  1. Have you guys had issues with this sensor before? Anyone know what causes them to fail??

I've had 2 stuff out on me in 2 years on my V7 Sti. Just happened again today. Same symptoms as the last 2 times. Car sounds like its running on 3 cylinders, back fires, no power.

The last second hand sensor i bought lasted me a year before it crapped out today.

Will find another second hand one for cheap to use in the meantime while i order a brand new one from overseas. Seems to be about $120 cheaper then buying here!!

The new speed cameras use K-under (Ku) - if you have a very good broadband detector you may get a weak K or Ka alert from them depending on a few factors.

Mobile patrol is Ka centred on 34.7ghz off the top of my head.

I have everything except Laser and Ka turned off. And if you get a laser alert you're usually as good as cooked, unless you got super lucky and picked up a reflection.

Fortunately you don't get a lot of Laser in NZ, I think it's basically cos the cops are too lazy to run it unless they've got one guy hiding in a bush running the gun and a queue of cars/motorbikes down the road to stop drivers... which is not allowed under a General Instruction (covert speed enforcement unless specifically targeting something)

    Yep that's right.

I have the top of the range whistler, not as good as V1 but still does the trick for me.

It has picked up a weak K alert when driving past the new speed cameras and definitely picks up KA 34.7 from the patrol cars.

I've also turned everything but KA and Laser off on mine.

  3. Took my car to Raijin a few months ago to get my V7 Ra tuned. Al know his stuff and takes his time to get the tune right and makes sure everything is all good before sending you on your way. I think i ended up spending about 4 hours with him. Really nice guy too and would recommend him to anyone wanting to get a tune done.

Wicked! A Telmann freezer; don\'t see them very often :P

Don\'t see them "working" very often. ;D

Hahaha....yeah scored it for free off my partners grandma, mint condition and looks new. Think shes had it for over 30 or 40 years

  5. My mates wife has a 2005 S4 wagon, was mint for about a couple of years but has had constant issues with it the last 9 months or so, parts are expensive, they cant wait to get rid of it.

And another mate has a 2001 S4 wagon, V6 twin turbo. Bought it off an old guy and has a full service history with Continentals cars, he\'s had for about a year or so and has had to replace a whole lot of sensors cause it was running like crap, has started playing up again and now turbos are leaking oil every where.

Ok was driving along then all of a sudden there was a sudden loss of power (not much but noticeable) parked up and the car was shaking its ass like Miley cyrus humming like it was a Veedub beetle which lead me to believe I could be running on 3 cylinders or misfiring.

Anyone had this problem before? as it happened suddenly I\'m assuming something may have come loose maybe wiring on an injector or coil plug wiring maybe the spark plugs could be farked (highly unlikely 10k old bosch platinum iridium spark plugs) not sure if it threw a code or not might have to get Pappu to check

I had the same thing happen to me 2 weeks ago but no CEL came on. dont know if yours would be the same fault but I needed to try as sort asap as its my only mode of transport, so went and got a scan tool plugged in and it came up with Cam position sensor. I pulled the front one out, cleaned it, disconnected battery and reset ecu and car has been running mint since. have ordered another sensor as a precaution so i can replace it, should arrive this week.

  7. Hi guys

I randomly met a previous owner of my car while pumping gas yesterday and he gave me a bit of hisory on it which was interesting.

He mentioned that the turbo has had work done on it. I asked him what it was and he said that the turbo is a Spec C turbo. I said to him that on the outside of the housing it still says VF30, he said yeah thats right but internally its all Spec C as he had it done, so its pretty much a VF34.

Now my question is, is there any obvious way to find out if this is correct?? or would you have to pull it apart??
