Hi I have a 1994 BG5 Legacy im converting to single turbo and I was wondering if it would be a smart idea to buy another Legacy or a different car, as in one project and a normal Legacy (thinking of a GTB) Im thinking its better to have two cars for parts and panels rather than two different models Cheers for any advice

Hey, Ive asked about this problem a little while back, But since then I have had a Mechanic replace the Loom and have only just got back into fixing this car again, Last week the car had 3 Codes, AFM, Knock, Boost Control, I replaced the AFM (again) and have lost that code (Phew), I replaced the knock sensor with a New Unit, But im still getting the Goddam code! It doesnt flash before I start the car, only a few seconds into running it on Diagnostics mode, then the idle drops to a steady rumble at 600rpm and the Code 22 comes on.... And if you try drive hard it doesnt want to, Any help really appreciated, not sending it back to the mechanic after $1600 for a new loom, really wanna fix this and flick it
  7. Hey I have a 1994 Legacy GT Bilstein RFRB in 5 speed Manual, it doesnt have ABS, Traction Control or Airbags, is this normal? Long story short, the Mechanics had my car for almost a Month now to replace some of the Engine to Car wiring loom and he still hasnt found a replacement loom ??? :\'( He says hes never ever seen one without the additions mentioned above, and the wreckers around NZ are having trouble too... Sounds strange anway

  9. Had it running well for 2 days with no CEL or issues, then last night the loom melted and almost burnt out when I went to start it after a drive... Get it reloomed to WRX and single turb it?
  10. ratshit alright ill give that a go then... it was doing the cut at the start before I even thought of bridging the boost controller, Bought another secondary BOV, the original one was so bad, if you blew on the BOV it would leak air out the vacuum nipple on the top haha got worse with the more pressure, also found the Restrictor Pill for the primary turbo on a wreck which was awesome, is there meant to be a 2nd restrictor pill somewhere??

Found the Whizzzz noise is that second BOV thing, Unplugged the Valve part and left the 2 Vacuum lines ontop on it, Now it never fails to produce boost which is awesome to have now, but with the boost controller turned up, it boosts to 9psi then drops back to 0psi and back up to 9 - 0 - 9 - 0 which is really buzzy, and you can feel the boost coming on and off and hear the wastegate in the exhaust opening and closing, this goes away when it gets to twin turbo mode and then it hits its normal boost/fuel/spark cut at 10psi, but at the moment its running 6psi and holding that till twin turbo and 6psi through twin till next gear
  12. uh oh maybe I f***ed the ECU? lol I bought a stock boost controller and plugged it in where it was missing and im still getting CEL 44 22 23 24 12 66 in that sequence I also put a pod filter onto the AFM, when the car doesnt want to build boost it makes a Wiiiizzzzzzzzz noise out the intake... strange as and sounds like im playing an arcade game
  13. Yeah those codes are AFM Knock and ICV, the 12 is Starter Switch? Found replacements on TM around $50 each (AFM Knock and ICV) I have already replaced the AFM so whats to say the replacement wasnt faulty...
  14. Hmmm only thing I touched that was electrical was putting a jumper across the boost controllers plug to see if it would make code 44 go away, it went away when I started the car but with a little revs it throws the 22 23 24 66 and sometimes 12 Kinda wanna sell it already sadly

  16. The BOV was leaking really bad, have plumbed it up now so its not working, cars running way better now and actually idles properly, Has anyone got an aftermarket BOV with the hose adapter?
  17. I reckon its something to do with the Vac Lines... Ive seen a few pics now of other cars lines and mine look like they are going willy nilly anywhere lol... Would be nice if someone on here is in Gisborne and can park next to mine to compare origin and destination of these Vac Lines? Will try that trick when I got spare time next, and the TB - Intercooler Hose is an aftermarket Silicon one, seems very sturdy

Yeah GL finding one (ZeroSports) I checked out my Post turb connections this morning, found the TB - Intercooler - TB Side Hose clamp was broken, would keep turning "tight" but not tighten the clamp, so replaced that and its running alot nicer now, havent run into the no boost problem yet, just that part where it spools both turbs but they are both spooled by 4krpmish but thats fun im happy with that, Just the no adjustable boost left to go now, and the ungodly amount of fuel it uses, Full tank of 96 downed in 3 days

Yeah definitely going to stop spending money on it now as I thought it would have been fixed by now, The old owner gave me a list of parts it apparently needed to get it going well, but thats been a f*** around lol If I unplug the wastegate and let it free boost it makes a whole lot of groans and noises then free boosts to 9 - 10psi and hits a fuel/boost/spark cut of some sort, With everything hooked up and its running its 5psi, You can hear the wastegate open on the secondary turbo, kinda get a real loud exhaust tone at about 4500rpm so im sure its not the wastegate, Going to check now for the intercooler flap thing, Sometimes after a quick boost, it wont build boost again regardless of RPM or gear, have to give it some time then it will boost again, drives fine when it cant build boost just slow as a whale, On another note, in diagnostic mode with all the solenoids clicking and relays ticking and stuff, none of them move, I read you should see the wastegates working and that huge brass thing should be moving in and out, none of that happens
  20. Hmmm weird that a BOV its holding constant 5pound even with a Boost controller it wont rise even a tad? I bought another AFM last week and put that on last night but nope nothing exciting happened...

Its running 5psi and I thought it was quick when i bought it without a gauge Have a gauge installed now though, Yeah sometimes I can hear the BOV hissing and no boost climbing, Drives fine off boost Edit: So frustrating... Going to unplug the BOV and see if I can up the boost, I am right in hooking the MBC up to the primary wastegate right? it doesnt need a line also going to the secondary gate?

Yeah I got the EJ20H its a 1994 Legacy, So sweet the chip should be all good, Im having problems with this boost controller though, no matter where I adjust it, Fully Closed or Fully Open its still boosting 5psi? I think the boost controller is okay, If I blow down one port and turn the dial it starts to limit the air coming out the other end
  23. Whoops that will be why I am boost cutting at 9-10ish I thought it was 14psi stock Can you get chips for the ECU, for the EJ20H?
  24. Thanks man! Got a manual boost controller now too so have it set to 8psi Edit: Whats stock boost?
  25. : Of course, then in that case, the Stock boost controller is nowhere to be seen lol Is there something I can do with the wires for the Boost Controller to clear my CEL?
