  1. no not as yet, got new plugs going in today and i as going to give the afm a clean in the weekend. I think ive been runnign on bad plugs for a while
  2. These plugs come gapped at .032, is this in the acceptable range or should i re-gap down to .030?
  3. Cheers, got a set on the way through these guys at that price.
  4. Hi im planning a change of spark plugs this weekend and cant decide between the following. Car is stock V7 STi. I cant decide which of these to go with, NGK PFR7B, NGK BKR7E or BKR7EIX Ive read positive things about all these plugs. Can someone help me decide?
  5. Moved back to factory boost solenoid after bing on manual boost tap for a few weeks and car seems to be back to limp mode. Wondering if theres a learning period for ECU? Could someone check the first photo in the link below and confirm that the setup is correct, i am running the port that points down to the turbo/wastegate and the other to the AFM as shown in the picture. Restrictor pill is in the line from the turbo. http://www.cobbtuning.com/Technical-Articles-s/70674.htm Looking to purchase a new 3 port solenoid shortly.....
  6. I wont know until i get them out, will be my first plug change since owning the vehicle....should know this weekend....finding time....
  7. Thanks boon, i had a look at their website, not to sure on the code selections for the 35 series which seems to be the process of ordering one with them. Think i will just call them.....
  8. Im gonna pick up some new plugs, was looking at the ngk BKR7E's, can anyone suggest the gap these should run at for a v7? Is it .030?
  9. OK ill see about getting the tap out and back to stock solenoid before pming him, could be a few days, busy life....
  10. Appreciate this feedback guys, think i will ditch the tap and get the cobb 3-port solenoid followed by a tuneup. Would this be the correct piece? http://www.rallysportdirect.com/COBB-Tuning-712750-3-Port-Boost-Control-Solenoid&src=qcuit041
  11. Thanks for the help, the cam sensor fault may have been a saved fault from a previous scan when i was having issues with cam advance (filter basket dropped out of banjo bolt), however on clearing the fault from the memory, further scans showed zero faults. If we are discussing ECU reflash, we would also be assuming a move back to ECU controlled boost solenoid correct?
  12. I have been running this boost controller for a few weeks and im beginning to wonder about the affect its having on my boost performance (boost curve) in a negative sense. I have set it to around 16 psi and it seems to hit around this mark quite accurately especially through early gears 1st to 3rd. At times though with 2nd, the car can feel like its running out of juice in higher revs and 3rd gear has felt unconvincing also in higher rev range. When i step on the gas through these gears, theres always a nice intial pull but the acceleration fades away quicker than what ive been used to im sure. Sometimes i wonder if its all in my head and no matter how well this car performs, its never good enough lol. What experiences have you guys had with manual boost control? Negative impact on boost performance? (Hitting peak boost to quickly? such a thing?)
  13. Is someone with a V7 able to provide me with some images showing the exact where abouts of the 3 banjo bolts with these filters? I maybe able to guess, i know one is under the turbo? the other two are up around the heads? Photos would be a magnificent help Cheers.
  14. ok thanks mate, I will ask mechanic to clean it as a start....
  15. Please ignore this thread, problem solved.
  16. just found out from my mechanic that he has already removed the filter from the bolt on a previous service. Replacing sensor tomorrow....Im unsure about tackling the boost tap afterward now as the ecu could find another problem down the line and have no way of winding down boost, my risk ..... I could have regular scans to keep on top of things i guess...
  17. Im seeing guys tapping into this line for boost gauge, infact in that picture you can see the t-piece where its been done.
  18. Hi there, i havent gone ahead with it yet, did a scan and have found a fault with camshaft position sensor A. Could this affect boost or engine power? Its goin in to have this fixed tomorrow. For now i am holding off....
  19. Hi there, I have circled the hose im referring to in the attached picture. This hose in my sti however has been cut and blocked at the manifold. I plan to tap into it for a boost gauge shortly, but where does this hose normally lead to? I cant find any pictures that show where the other end goes. Sorry, learning....
  20. hey thanks for the reply, i actually have a suspicion that my solenoid is playing up which is why im looking to bypass it as a test, dont mind spending some money to find out. Boost levels are up and down and alot of the time the car feels sluggish....
  21. Hi, Im looking at installing the gfb atomic controller and have one question regarding the instructions that come with it. They say when the controller is wound completely clockwise (startng position for testing - lowest boost setting), the car should be running at lower or equal to the factory boost settings. Because im bypassing the ECU boost solenoid, would this actually mean that it would start off at the wastegates default psi which i believe is about 7-8 psi? Its just when i think of factory boost settings, i think of 18 psi which i believe is sti factory psi when running via the solenoid? Sorry easy answer for you pros, im still learning I have v7 sti. Will be installing new boost gauge at same time as controller.
