Holy carp Subaru Upper Cylinder Cleaner is amazing. Going to do a can every oil change from now on.
Sprayed half a can in the manifold. Waited 5 minutes then started it, then held idle high and sprayed in the rest of can while running. Big thick clouds of grey/white and black smoke. Then stopped engine as the can ran out. Waited another 5-10 minutes then started again and went for a drive.
Blew out even more crap under boost. Came home and did half of the second can into my TMIC, the last half into manifold again. Went for another drive.
Idle is much smoother now, not rocking the car at all. Engine sounds much smoother/crisper. And no more smoking at all. ;D
Got some new Rear Toe In Adjusting Bolts too, I cut one of mine changing Bushes.
Did you spray it on the intake manifold itself? Or one of the vac hoses?
Am pretty sure if one sprays it at the throttle body itwill be evenly distributed towards all cylinders rather than just a vac hose?

Just a thought
2-3 months ago, i did not warm up the car properly. About 5 min drive just to raise coolant temp to normal then check atf level
Now what i did was drive 15 mins to warm EVeRYTHING up. Then check atf
Currently i drained 1.5 liters and i think i got it to full hot mark properly...
Does this matter? Driving it for only 5 mins as opposed to 15mins? I was thinking it was showing overfilled because fluid really had the time to warm up as opposed to driving it for 5 mins
-
Cheers for the advice. Already drained almost a liter off it and still overfilled a bit. But very surprised tranny already feels thight and happy.
-
Yes, forgot to mention, and in park

Ok, so 2-3 months ago i did a drain and fill for my legacy (4x drain/fill)
At that time, i had the atf level dead on the hot full mark
Now i\'ve just checked my atf level and its way way up the hot full mark
I\'ve drained at least half a liter of atf, drove it to warm it up again, then checked on the fluid level, still way over filled. Although, when i drained some atf, tranny felt a lot lighter, a lot smoother shifts...
Is there any explanation for this?
Procedure i used to check atf level is,
Drive for 15 mins to warm things up
Park on level surface
Shift through all positions slowly
Wipe off dip stick
Insert dip stick

Just been to sublab... And they charged me $80 bucks for the at filter. That is not cheap at all....
I also asked what atf they use for 4eat... The guy at reception said they use castrol tq95 for 4eat... Any thoughts?
-
Any thoughts on the castrol transmax multivehicle? Full synthetic?
-
-
How manu flush and fill cycles did you do for a complete flush?
-
Would you guys suggest castrol transmax e?? Or stick to oem?
-
Hey there,
Would anyone know where to get genuine subaru atf and tranny filter for cheap?
For a 4eat bp5? Preferrably in auckland. Called up sublab and they\'re charging me $24 a liter.

Mine got an extension lead which can go all the way up to the existing sat nav.
-
Apparently, a bp5 2.0 did not have these. Can\'t fit my car. Hitting the exhaust. Anyone keen on this before i return it? Bought it for $80

Yeah that\'s what i was thinking. Probably the car yard i bought it from probably gave it too much atf... Man, everything is mismatched but the car drives good. Mismatched oil filter and Some mismatched colours on panels. And totally missing splash guard below the engine
-
Am checking it cold. Like, first thing in the morning before i start the car on a flat surface.... And the reading i get is way up. Way way up...
-
Thanks for the quick replies... Will probably use the z436 ones. Got one today from repco free from a 4L magnatec... But will probably go genuine subaru filter next time. Anybody has an idea on my over filled tranny? Am pretty sure am doing it right on the readings...

Subaru keyless entry remote RESOLVED!
in Electrical
Posted
As per title, am planning to get a duplicate key and keyless remote for my 05 legacy
Problem is i can\'t find anybody who sells and cuts those triangular jdm keys. Does anyone have a work around on this?
Planning to get a key fob from the US but bot sure if it will work for jdm cars.
Btw, my car doesnt have an immobiliser, just a keyless entry.
