  1. ill get a proper invoice with all the work done etc and warranty details too
  2. yeah i think he said 6 months parts and labour? but i will have to double check
  3. body 210,000 engine 170,000. cambelt was done 10,000 ago along with water pump and fuel pump
  4. its a guy who lives locally, mechanic quoted me around 3k so i took the offer of 1200 from this guy. noticed him first on nz subaru enthusiasts page on facebook. i went to see him and he had a few cars there here was working on and his workshop area looked pretty decent and he showed me all the genuine subaru parts he would be using. ill ask him to email me the pix and ill update this thread with them later on this was the quote:
  5. nah getting it done in 2 weekends, so car will be out of action for the time in between as well. yes its quite badly gone, loses coolant everyday, overheats quickly, smoke out exhaust, bubbles in coolant as soon as car is turned on, the occasional ploom of smoke from right side of engine (comes out hood scoop, wheel area and bonnet gap). been blown for approx 3/4 weeks, but wasnt so bad back then.
  6. after the heads have been replaced, will my fuel consumption go down a bit? ive heard that head gasket failure can also increase the amount of fuel you use? i managed to get a good price ($1200) to get it done (i cant do it myself, 1. wouldnt know how. 2. no space to remove an engine atm) anyone else ever have gaskets replaced? if so, what did you notice right away, other than not overheating haha Update: gasket had cracked under pressure.
  7. ahh yip that\'s my first one, i found some 3mm LED bulbs at jaycar and the guys said they would work fine etc as they were low voltage LED\'s? these are the ones i bought: http://www.jaycar.co.nz/productView.asp?ID=ZD0130&w=3mm+LED&form=KEYWORD am i also right in saying that the lights would be in parallel? so if one was not working, the others should still work? not like the old days of \'if one bulb is out, they all go out\'?
  8. i just replaced the dim green covered bulbs in my A/C - fan - heater control unit (HVAC?) but none of the lights work, i have reversed the bulbs thinking it was the polarity +/- that was the issue. but nothing, and the bulbs work when connected to a battery. are they not getting enough power or too much power? kinda stumped on this one... all wire connections are the same btw.
  9. that is true. i think I might know where this is... but google maps wont go there, so not sure. Based on that I think you have the right place damn too late haha i dont think i should have said anything, oops!
  10. that is true. i think I might know where this is... but google maps wont go there, so not sure.
  11. awesome thanks one thing though, it says 2000 legacy. assuming thats the 3rd gen legacy and mine is 2nd? same size?
  12. so ill give you the details first. 1997 subaru legacy gtb wagon. im trying to replace the bulbs in the air con control? as a few have blown and i would like to match them with my blue dash lights. i have pulled the unit out and taken the bulbs out of the holder... but i have this problem. i have NO idea what size the bulbs are and i wouldnt have a clue where to get them? any help is good help thanks steve
  13. so from that i have configured this: one turbo, one problem. two turbos, two problems. quite an advanced theorem but my best guess is single conversion now?
  14. major pros and cons? wouldnt it be nice to have two equal turbos running at the same time? creating some crazy back to the future shizzle found this online: less exhaust gas available to each turbo, a smaller turbo must be used to maintain quick response, and the cost for this response, is limited high end power delivery and boost potential. so maybe single is the only way... hmmmm ??? ??? ???
  15. what year is your bg joker? would be cool if you had some parts laying around i could take off your hands mines a bg5 1997 gt
  16. before i start, yes, i have used the search function. But i have only really found very mixed opinions, vf25/27 or vf32/33 i am after an all round power increase, but mainly high end for the secondary, obviously!! any info is good info, but im currently leaning towards vf25 primary and vf27 secondary. Also, best place in auckland for turbo swaps? Im thinking highbrook automotive? Thanks Guys For Any Input edit: i currently have vf18/19
  17. my 1997 legacy does this too... same thing? about said \'key fob\'?
  18. not necessarily. i looked at a few opportunities, this was actually very easy and a lot of fun. another thing would be when the traffic lights stop for pedestrians watch the timer? you can get a solid 20 seconds if you time it right? but if you think its a bit impossible to get then i can change it for you? [quote name='Aurai said: Nice one! What time were you there at to get no traffic in the shot?! crazy hours of the morning...
  19. old(the church on ponsonby road): new: first one was this one, now changed to one below. http://s1099.photobucket.com/user/steve11810/media/IMG_24791.jpg.html http://i1099.photobucket.com/albums/g392/steve11810/IMG_24691.jpg EDIT: same place, better photo...?
  20. i bought 4 cans from repco at 30 each. did all 4 rims with enough left over for touch ups. i did about 6 coats, light base coat then lay it on a tad thicker. i think 10 minutes between coats was fine.
