Actually let me get back to you on this.. sorry

..i was half way through researching this drunk, got frustrated that the russian subaru fast server is down then got called to bed lol

anyway yeah it does seem to be a ~95 WRX RA with the electrics optioned, and some other sti bits slapped on

its just that something about it bugs me. i guess i just want to look at it in person

Yeah early EJ20G (this one a 1996) pulled from an original GC8 v2 STi RA, the one with TD05 and 5th injector from factory. No CDB though :( must have been just on the change over on the production line.

    ..

interesting. do your pistons look like this? do you have a chassis number from the car?

well sure, but when talking blindly about what a model should or shouldn\'t have, we have to talk about the default factory package. not just what was available if someone had extra cash?

i\'ll have a look later to back up the v5/v6 claim. right now my flat is data capped :(

Take your hand off it buddy and be a bigger man and admit your statement is \'\'Wrong\'\'! :P

\'\'Quote: only the V5/V6 STI RA V-Limited got helical front diffs. everything else pre bug-eye is open.\'\'

Like i said that is not true. end of

alright, i was wrong. not sure what i was supposed to be doing with my hand though

thats for cusco diffs though nick..

from memory the Subaru factory ones are sealed up.

Fwiw. hes brough the v2 sti ra one i sold to Roo :) and is asking about that diff specfically

confusing desu. didn\'t you have your r160 mech re-shimmed? how are they to do that if its sealed? i think you\'ll find the basic design of a mechanical clutch diff similar enough that the cusco info is a useful example. left/right differential torque through the spider/pinion gears rotates the cross-shaft. depending on the cam angle of the cross-shaft and the groove you end up with expanding pressure on the clutches. in my previous post you can clearly see the two different set of grooves for 1.5 and 2 way setup

on a side note the other diff is the a way of telling if its 1 way, 1.5 or 2 way easily?

    ..

you can see cross-shaft setup through holes in the diff casing, but no harm disassembling for fun

well thats cool. those two units are only 8 serial numbers apart.

also check the firmware sticker. they are the same number. i\'m going to suggest they are both running the same tune, one with the external eprom, and yours burnt into the processor memory.

also note the ecu with the firmware chip already had a sticker under the SA sticker. so i assume its a recycled new unit from JECS

maybe that was the cross-over point at the JECS factory? seems that on a limited production run for this model the JECS factory just worked with what they had
