I have taken my control box out and had a look at the circuit board and it seems slightly different and this is the only part I have left to do for my alarm to be fully working.

Is it possible to tell me how you found what contacts to solder to or maybe I can post a pic of mine so you can see whats different so I can finish this mission off as this is driving me up the wall and so far this is the most informative thread I have found on the net anywhere.

    Any help would be awesome.

on the circuit board side (all the electrical componetry side) there will be/should be what looks like a square black component soldered on to the circuit board, this is the relay. The pins from this black square (relay) are what require the earth signal to trigger the lock/unlock.. very tentively use a test light to find what pins (should be 4 pins intotal at a guess) have 12v.. if no voltage on other pins, they are more than likely the lock/unlock, tentitively touch an earth on to them to see if the click and operate the doors.. if you are lucky your test light will do his when you probe them for power or not.

Failing that, take the box into a reputable car alarm installer and they will show you in 3 seconds flat :)

    prolly look like this:

  2. hey,

looking at doing a catch can setup on my leggy, my research shows that dual catch cans using non filtered type is the go, as shown below in pic:

am i on the right the right track here?

i beleive venting a catach can to atmostphere takes away the vacuume in the crank case, of which is there to extract the gases/blow by etc

  3. well i took out the sender today and swaped with the other leggy i have, that seemed to fix it (fitted my walbro)

the subaru tanks are weird really, they have two sections divided by the room made to fit drive shaft tunnel (see pic below)

so my theory is when you put say 30L in.. go for a drive around a tight right had corner the bulk of the fuel goes to the passenger side section and the gauge goes down to quarter... then go round a tight right hand corner and the fuel gos back in to the drivers side (where sender unit is) and the fuel guage goes back to half.

THis must only be when you have a certain amount of fuel in it, any one else found this?

Note: there is a pick up on the passenger side of the tank drive by a system where-by the return line fuel creates a vacuume and sucks up the fuel.

  4. Hi, i have always had issues with my fuel guage in my BG5a leggy

i am sure it must be a common fault with these cars, i did a wee search found nothing obvious..

b 4 i dive into this.. whats normally the problem? is it the sender in the tank or gauge itself?

    is there a known fix?

    cheers

I posted engine number above if it helps

Yea wikipedia says 1.6 is sohc so a 1.8 sohc may be the next option as the Ecu may just run it

    I think lol....

fuk it, not allowed the car now (the BF with the 1.8 ) the missus said FARK OFF to getting another subaru on the property

so unless u can get down to timaru to get engine out, i cant help you sorry

its in storage, the actual owners dont want a thing to do with it.. i am aloud to grab whatever i want but have to arrange for it to be dumped

are water banjos the same as oil banjos?

i.e. i dont have the turbo oil feed banjo bolt that goes on the head side feed, can i use a one that is normally a water banjo (that goes on the head side)

(yes i have the right size banjo for the oil feed at the turbo end)

    /quote]

no :o Bango bolt for turbochargers are oil restrictive and carefully sized to each turbocharger bearing setup and application. ;)

The one into the block wont fit either. As in oil/water or water/oil swap out

its the banjo at the turbo the determines the restriction, i have the right one for that (turbo end)

the ones at the head end are all there abouts the same and have the gause/filter in them

  8. i have seen quite a few of these with RS badges, dont think they have been simply slapped on

i used to think RS was 5 speed too until i worked at integrity cars in chch in the mid 90\'s and saw that some GTs were also 5 speed
