  1. Yeah feeling really crap man. Dunno if someone followed me home or what, but they were pros. Bypassed my alarm & steering lock. I knew I should've gotten a GPS tracker.
  2. My car was stolen at 3am this morning. Number plate HNF339 pakuranga area. Red wrx with the V6 STi wing gold OZ super turismos. If anyone's spotted please call local authorities.
  3. Thanks Adam, il have to try that on Tuesday at the workshop.
  4. I have an Overheating issue Started last week & I noticed my gauge climbing so I switched off the motor & let it cool off. Later that night I topped up water & couldn't get the car to overheat again to diagnose it!!! So run for a week & no problems, then yesterday it overheated & I started checking, the top radiator pipe was hot & the bottom was cold. Strange so I assumed thermostat. Got a new thermostat fitted today genuine Subaru part, took it for a spin & started overheating!! Did a pressure test & found one of the radiator hoses was leaking so I fixed that. Finally built up enough courage to TK test & thankfully it's not head gasket failure. So now all that's left is water pump or radiator blockage. Water pump was replaced by previous owner so I'm thinking it should be ok. I also tried to burp the system for air lock, but not sure I did it properly, I left the radiator cap off & left it to idle with heater on & fan off, topped up water for about 20minutes & then took it for a spin, overheated. I'ts really strange how the bottom radiator pipe is still so cold. Clearly the thermostat ain't opening. Now I'm wondering if there's any other suggestions, before I remove the radiator to get looked?
  5. Just an update, turns out my boost gauge was the fault, the vacuum pipe connected to the boost sensor for the gauge got folded under the dash. Must've been when I was stripping the dash to fit my new radio =P Which explains the low boost readings LoL Thanks for the help guys.
  6. Thanks for the reply I'll try the starting fluid, don't have an air compressor or baked beans LoL I'm getting a new Boost gauge to see if it has the same problem. By the way, Would the T-piece on the boost gauge cause a leak? Cos when I hook up the new boost gauge I'm not gonna replace the vacuum pipe, just the sender unit & gauge.
  7. So I noticed my boost gauge today only reaches 2 or 3 pounds of boost, and sometimes stayed in the negative & wouldn't even reach zero, but I'm sure it used to get to 7psi. How would I be able to detect a boost leak? Is there someone in Auckland here that can have a look at my car for me? Or is there a way to check this myself? My car is a stock JDM WRX. The car however feels fantastic, no rough idling, no smoke, & because it has so much power I honestly can't tell if it's lost any. I'm just concerned, because I don't want any damage to occur to the turbo at a later stage.
  8. Hey thanks, I'll see what happens. I'm not that confident with hacking & modifying parts to fit so I'll keep your offer on hold.
  9. Wow, not sure if it's just the cooler air, but my car feels so much more responsive after fixing the bent fins!!! I highly recommend it guys!! As for STi tmic I'd rather keep my stock one since only the Y pipe makes the difference. But I figured the design of the V7 air splitter was more effective, but if it don't fit then oh well, just the spray nozzles will do.
  10. So I did this today: [video=youtube_share;9YA6hnxIL1k] Had quite a few bent fins, so this was a good fix. Next thing on the list will be a silicon Y pipe & intercooler water spray. I'm meeting a guy on Monday that's wrecking a bug eye STi, so I'll be getting the spray nozzles & some goodies off that, question is, should I buy the air splitter as well? It looks like a better design than the gc8 stock one, but will it fit my smaller intercooler? Sorry I stole this pic of trademe, if it belongs to anyone of you, P.M me I'll buy it.
  11. Yeah I saw that when I bought the car, I was snooping around my engine bay. So I did a bit of research on google & I found out that the 1997 JDM WRX actually comes with those goodies standard. My rev gauge redlines at 7500rpm vs normal wrx redline at 7000rpm. So stock power of 280ps hence why I'm happy with the power.
  12. Thanks for your replies & opinions, Just wanna keep tabs on what's going on under the hood. So I guess I'll just be getting a boost gauge for now to keep an eye out for leaks or spikes. Gonna re-map & up the boost at a later stage =) but until then I'm pretty happy with the power it's making stock, so I'm focusing on visual mods for now.
  13. So I wanna get some gauges for my WRX, but not sure which ones are most important? I will obviously get a boost gauge but which other 2 would you guys suggest? The engine is stock, so maybe just 2 gauges in the A pillar will do... I'm thinking oil temp gauge
  14. I guess impreza drivers like to live dangerously....
  15. Hey, quick question, it's my first scooby with the pre-facelift dash, I was running low on petrol & the reserve light never came on. Was wondering if it actually had one? by reserve warning light I mean the yellow gas tank logo that lights up.
  16. Thanks, so it seems the y pipe makes more of a difference than the intercooler itself. Can i just buy the silicone pipe?
  17. Hi can anyone please tell me if theres a difference between the ver 6 STi intercooler & my 1997 JDM WRX intercooler? Besides it being silver & mine black, is it thicker, more efficient etc?

  19. All sorted Had to remove the kick panels & there was a tiny gap where I squeezed my fingers through & pushed the cable back into place. All working good again.
  20. Hey guys, took apart my dash today to swop out the cluster bulbs for a red LED swap, but discovered that my speedo cable is pretty short, there's no slack at all to put it back into the cluster 😁 So I figured it would be easier to disconnect it from the transmission, but then I read on other forums that it's more difficult to put back!! Is this true? If so how do I reach the back? The cluster seems to be closed off with a plastic surround so it doesn't look like I can reach it if I removed the bottom part of the dash, or am I wrong? Any suggestions please.... The car is a 1997 impreza WRX manual sedan. I have the pre facelift dash.
