  1. The leak that led to me starting this topic stopped soon after. ;D So I suspect the leak started as a result of the car being serviced ... maybe there was a spill or the oil filter wasn't on tight. Either way we're all good
  2. Bought a good stereo, would be nice to reduce the road roar from loose chip bit more so I can fully appreciate it. Anyone done sound deadening and got any tips suggestions for GD Impreza? Cheers and HNY
  3. Went to Kaspa transmissions The clunk was because I was dropping it from Neutral to Drive and then gassing it. The transmission needs about 2 seconds before it's ready to go. They reckon it's better just to leave it in Drive anyways. Thanks for your help guys
  4. No problems . That'll be alot faster than the Legacy! These special editions are kinda coll if you want something a bit different http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Cars/Subaru/Type/auction-251896688.htm
  5. No noticable loss of drive No vibrations while driving No revs shooting up Happens almost everytime I take off from a standing start any harder than gently Usually wearing my caped crusader costume, otherwise Petter Solbergs race overalls and going vroom vroom
  6. Any garage or someone specialised?
  7. Sounds like i shouldn't buy anything from you guys! What would cause this to happen prematurely, cars only done 47000kms?
  8. Help please. First 4WD. Is an Auto GD Impreza When I'm taking off from the lights anything above gently, I'm getting what feels/sounds like a slipping before engagement sensation from the rear drivetrain. Anyone else had this problem and know how to fix? Cheers Sort of a delayed continuation of http://www.clubsub.org.nz/forum/index.php/topic,6815.msg92199.html#msg92199
  9. Another 2c Big difference between an STI and a WRX I would think... the WRX is a mass market performance car, the STI is a street legal race car. The road is not a race track. Could get a WRX and a race kart/dirt bike/quad bike/jet ski with the difference to an STI. But if you have your heart set on an STI, you should go for it. Could buy an older one to see if you like it then change up to a newer WRX/STI depending what you decide. This one looks well maintained, don't know about prices http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Cars/Subaru/WRX/auction-240876246.htm
  10. My 2c 2.5L turbo WRX (EJ255) which was available from late 2005 I think You wanted smaller and lighter after all?
  11. Only on acceleration. Anyone have any pictures/diagrams of where I should be looking on the car?
  12. I'm not giving it heaps just a bit of a squeeze on takeoff. Diff bushes ay. How long do they normally last with around town driving?
  13. Car is low mileage but previous owner had a bad habit of driving into curbs with the rear wheels. Have fixed the wheel alignment but maybe something broke in the back?
  14. Possibly the diff. Doesn't feel like an engine/gearbox issue
  15. When starting off from the lights etc, sometimes the drivetrain makes a clunk, especially if I'm giving it more gas. Doesn't happen when I take off gently. Anyone know what this could be and if I need to fix it? ??? Cheers
  16. Steering is fine now I have the wheels aligned, will leave the camber as is. Am curious about the effects of the larger negitive toe T.Rev had on the rear compared to your setup which is more negative on the front
  17. 10 points to Koom! Heavy steering was largely down to messed up wheel alignment. Toe was FL -0.9mm FR -0.3mm RL 3.1mm RR -5.3mm Toe now FL 0mm FR -0.3mm RL 0.3mm RR 0.5mm thanks to JP tyres for fixing Perhaps this messed up alignment was adding to road noise too.
  18. Just looking at strut braces for my non turbo GD impreza and was wondering if they'll actually fit as the bonnet on the non turbo is lower than turbo bonnet with it's scoop. Anyone know? Turbo with brace showing space for brace http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/40/106716440_full.jpg
  19. I lift a huge weight every time I go for a slash ;D Previous car with lighter steering had a strut brace, which seemed to make it more responsive to steering input. Unspring weight has been solved with smaller/narrower rims Desperately needs a wheel alignment so will reassess after that. Any Wheel aligner recommendations in the Glenfield area
  20. Speedo is calibrated for 205/50R16. I'm running a larger circumference wheel at the moment. So apart from reducing the contact patch how else can I lighten the steering?
  21. What about the size of the wheel, that must have some effect on caster. 205/50R16 is 1920 circumference, 215/45R17 is 1964 circumference, 225/40R18 is 2001 circumference So up to 81 mm difference in circumference there
