  1. I must have spent 8 hours on my car so far...

    -Washed

    -Removed tar spots using WD40

-Removed paint from other cars doors etc using a cutting compound

-Reduced surface scratches using cutting compound

    -Washed

-"Cut and Waxed" with Meguires Wax and Polish (one product) which I think is a mild abrasive that fortunately removed the smudging the scratch cutting had caused. Was looking good after this :)

    -Waxed using Turtle wax

Will remove the Turtle wax tomorrow or Weds night

Then I need to sort the stone chips!

Yeah big job, hope I used proper technique!

  2. Speakers

So TS-A1683S is a good speaker?

If i do go for the tweeters would i run the rear speakers off the headunit and then use a two channel amp to power the fronts and tweeters?

    Headunit

Can you change between preset radio stations easily on those Pioneer headunits? Don't see the usual 1 - 6 buttons.

Is it really a sub, or just a 6x9 that is high-passed to only play frequencies lower than 100Hz(ish)

The best subs for space restriction are the flat piston types, Pioneer for example.

Personally I don't bother with rear speakers... why give passengers music? It's your car!

If you do your front stage right, then it will immerse your car in sound anyway.

It's only a small cabin, not like a house living room or movie theatre.

Where do you put Pioneer flat piston subs?

  4. Have decided the factory speakers are not ok!

Only reason I was considering keeping them was when I upgraded the headunit in my last car the whole stereo sounded better.

So looking at a Sony headunit as I have a rotary commander already.

That sets some kind of upper quality limit for speakers I guess.

Any speaker brand/model recommendations to get the best out of a Sony headunit?
