I must have spent 8 hours on my car so far...
-Washed
-Removed tar spots using WD40
-Removed paint from other cars doors etc using a cutting compound
-Reduced surface scratches using cutting compound
-Washed
-"Cut and Waxed" with Meguires Wax and Polish (one product) which I think is a mild abrasive that fortunately removed the smudging the scratch cutting had caused. Was looking good after this
-Waxed using Turtle wax
Will remove the Turtle wax tomorrow or Weds night
Then I need to sort the stone chips!
Yeah big job, hope I used proper technique!

What about silver?
Is DIY silver nail polish the way to go VS professional paint chip repair?
-

They should look at doing something about that sometime

What models came with Subaru factory fitted front strut braces?
-
Any idea if GD takes the same brace as GF or even Legacy?
-
So what make/model should I buy and do I need an adjustable one?
-
EJ251
Oil leak after only 47000kms!
What's that about?
Only when the car is hot I think
-
Yeah latch was out of alignment.
Putting the Towbar on revealed an existing issue with the latch.
All sorted now thanks
-
I don't think the latch position is adjustable. Yeah gave it back to me like that now I can't use the car
-
Few different makes and models of strut brace out there.
Anybody know/have experience of the different effects different braces have on your cars handling?

Boot lid won't go down far enough to latch closed. Worked fine beforehand
Must have twisted the chassis somehow
-
Had one fitted today and now the boot won't close! Not happy!!! :'(

About $600 more than you need to pay

Looking at the Pioneer 4150SD now, as it can take SD cards. Are Pioneer speakers good too?
-
Speakers
So TS-A1683S is a good speaker?
If i do go for the tweeters would i run the rear speakers off the headunit and then use a two channel amp to power the fronts and tweeters?
Headunit
Can you change between preset radio stations easily on those Pioneer headunits? Don't see the usual 1 - 6 buttons.
-
Thanks tho what I mean is how does that help my cars handling

RM-X65
Was just looking at Sony headunits. Want one with rear USB input so I can route cable behind and sit phone/MP3 player on little shelf above headunit.
What about these speakers?
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/CarAudioVideo/Speakers/A-Series/Pioneer/TS-A1702C
I assume the little boxes send the high end to the tweeters and the rest of the sound to the main speakers
-
Is it really a sub, or just a 6x9 that is high-passed to only play frequencies lower than 100Hz(ish)
The best subs for space restriction are the flat piston types, Pioneer for example.
Personally I don't bother with rear speakers... why give passengers music? It's your car!
If you do your front stage right, then it will immerse your car in sound anyway.
It's only a small cabin, not like a house living room or movie theatre.
Where do you put Pioneer flat piston subs?
-
Any chance Sony remotes (and rotary commanders) are compatible with another brand then?
-
What does that do?
-
Have decided the factory speakers are not ok!
Only reason I was considering keeping them was when I upgraded the headunit in my last car the whole stereo sounded better.
So looking at a Sony headunit as I have a rotary commander already.
That sets some kind of upper quality limit for speakers I guess.
Any speaker brand/model recommendations to get the best out of a Sony headunit?
-
Any good subwoofer locations that won't take up too much space?
Underseat?
Mazda Atenzas have a Bose sub that sits inside the space saver!
