  1. go to pick a part and see if there is a replacement engine for what you need, 300 bucks for a 4cyl fuel injected engine. obviously you would need to remove it, easy enough they have a crane you can use. they wont have much info on each vehicle it would be up to you to figure out exactly what you need. i recently got one from there for my car, the donor car had a frontal impact so i figured it was quite possibly running at the time of the accident. whipped the engine out and dropped the sump to check if there was any bearing material, nope put it back on and wheeled the engine out to my trailer. resealed sump when i was home put it in car crossed my fingers soo hard they almost broke. now i have a running car on the el-cheapo.
  2. My 1999 B4 just ticked over 450,000km on monday
  3. Hey Guys i was wondering if you have heard about the unforgotten Christmas cruise happening this sunday the 20th meeting up around 1230 and i think the map will be about 250kms going all over canterbury. im keen as to go and would like to meet some other club members along the trip
  4. hey speedy sub i checked the overflow hose and there was a split so i fixed that so no more airlocks, i also changed the rad cap as i noticed it wasnt allowing coolant to return to radiator. went for a drive yesterday up the port hills and it went fine, then drove up major aitken and ended up racing a vr4 it was going good for two mins then started creeping again. bugger i thought i had it sorted. bottom hose is hot when engine is overheating next up i have water pump and radiator to look at.
  5. drove the car today, the outside temp started at about 10 degrees car ran fine, as soon as i got into the sun the outside temperature went up to 16 then car slowly started warming up. on the way back to chch it was 11 and the car didnt heat up past normal once, even with a bit of a thrash. i will test it on the next hot day and see what happens, im hoping it has figured itself out. if not ill give the radiator and heater core a good wash out.
  6. Hey Guys i have a rev-d B4 and i have noticed around town cruising the car runs at normal temp, once i am on the open road at 100kph (cruising) the cars starts to warm up, i can control most of the over heating by cranking up the heater full heat and full fan, this is enough to pull the temp back down to normal, once i turn off heater it starts to climb again. checks so far the radiator fans work i have changed the thermostat with a genuine subaru one it is brand new coolant, the red organic stuff from ripco pretty sure there are no air locks left. i have been told to flush out heater core but i dont see how that will help as when i put the heater on max it cranks out the heat, so that tells me there should be no issues with that, pretty much i dont want to remove intercooler again to do this haha cbf cheers guys
  7. hmm did ya have to change any settings just connect to obd through bt, then go into torque and select the obd2 bt adaptor and should be away all fine right, i have a 99 be5 n/a,,a/t
  8. When your adaptor is plugged in does the red light in the adaptor stay on
  9. i purchased a bluetooth elm327 obd2 adaptor off trademe, my android device can see and i put the code 1234 in, shows obd2 as a paired device but then torque cant connect to it, could this because im using the free version of the app or could i have a faulty device,

  15. yeah not really keen to pay shipping thats why i posted in the chch page lol any one know how much it would be to send a exhaust set up from wellington/palmeston north to christchurch?

  17. Hey guys im after a new exhaust set up for my non turbo auto 1999 b4,,, with a tt manual conversion happening in the future, looking for turbo set up and na headers. let me know if you have anything lying around is the exhaust shape the same in a bh compared to a be??
  18. i know subies dont really light the right foot but this is abnormal, something is getting cut too much ie fuel
  19. hey guys i live in christchurch and i have a 1999 be5 non turbo automatic when i get in my car in the mornings, start it, put it in drive and accelerate, the engine looses 90% of its power, then i take my foot off and back on and i have acceleration but it still feels held back, after a minute it runs smooth. never holds me back when the car is warm. im not sure what sensor would do this. heard through the grapevine that coolant temp plays up similar to this. i put a scan tool on it when it was warm and it showed everything was working in the normal parameters. except a lazy 02 sensor which has been changed out for a good 2nd hand one. i have tried a good coolant temp sensor, no luck. also could it be oil pressure related? engine oil level good, clean oil, new filter trans level good, clean oil, new filter engine oil pressure light goes out pretty fast on start up dont know about trans pressure, if this was low would it cut fuel/air mix to the engine? bit stumped for now but hope you can help me out
  20. Hey guys i just purchased a 1999 non turbo auto b4, i just replaced the waterpump and cambelt. now its bubbling in the overflow bottle a bit too much so im thinking its got a blown head gasket or cracked head i have a 1994 bg7 legacy wagon manual sitting at home. with a smashed rear end and nothing wrong with the engine first question is can the engine be put in the b4 from the legacy wagon?? next question is can i put the manual gearbox into the b4 ? thanks for your wise words of wisdom
