  1. check on trademe for the electronic boost controller - the HDI ones are cheap-ish and do a dam good job . i personally wont tap the boost as dont really trust it to run to the edge.. depending on the car, you might as well spend a little bit more than a tap but at least u wont be blowing things up.. i know of a few VR4 and an evo4 that over boosted due to tap and the engine went bye bye
  2. some engineering shop in avondale..waste of time i must say.. best to get new gears cut on a metal rod then cut and weld option..
  3. HKS evc4 - holds boost strong and builds it nice and early if u on a lower budget - get a HDI one - itsgot the 2 dials low and high and connects to ur ecu bloody good as well i used that on my v3 sti and was pretty good!!
  4. ahh.. yes thats what is tru - last yeara mate did a 6 speed conversion to a B4 and used the r180 diff but had his axles modified to suit the hub if u use the 6speed rear diff, you will need the 6 speed hubs or modify your axles end to suit personally modding the axles is the weaker option as after some driving the axles broke lol
  5. u can use a 5 speed one but aperently it has fewer bolts (?) the flywheel has to be 6 speed tho (thats what i gathered : )

    exhaust

does it hit the steering rod knuckle?
  7. i was thinking about this for a while... everyone knows that the v7+ engines that come with AVCS wont be run by the older link/FC what about running non AVCS ones with that running in piggy back type mode.. wire it to all the needed wires and control fuel and spark using the link of FC.. letting factory ecu do the rest - eg dash etc.. any thoughts.. (this is a theory at this point so improvements needed to the plan before production)
  8. got them from miller at greenlane repco - (they were cheap as - he did a *clubsub discount i think).. not sure if i should put the price here - but best to ask him directly for a killer deal
  9. finally managed to catch up to the mechanic - and he gave thumbs up for the pads !! will update on their performance once test it out
  10. they do look the part in blue though.. lots around in blue but they may have been a more popular color choice in jap land ..who knows.....
  11. yes bro.. exactly what i meant - the increased setup of the v8c...should have typed more accurately... 8)
  12. tru tru.. maybe lets say v8 sti.. ah well it is a moot point all right.. 8) anyhoo... i think i have too much time on my hands...lol...hahaha
  13. v9 sti over the v8 sti - easily better suspension setup (like the v8 spec c) and more choice of availble wheels for the future possibly better body lit as well - slightly
  14. no way bro.. all the owners know that on the v8 sti - the roof scoop only came in the sti ra line of models so no question of that being a lesser model.. my thoughts were only related to that particular type r model where the wrx's were known for their roof scoops not sti.. so any roof scooped typr r would have been considered less than a non roof scoop typr r (talking about when the model was new back in sushi land..) hmmm hope that made more sense lol
  15. that would have been an expensive (dare i say silly option) - i mean the owners back in japan would have known easily the wrx and sti type r simply because of the scoop on the roof so for anyone to option a sti with wrx scoop could have been seen as having the lesser car ... lol.. just speculating.. its like buying a ummm (wel lets face it the new v11 sucks so wont use that example..)... err if the v8 lets say were the current model then it would be like - i will take the v8sti but put on the ghey spoiler in place of the big one and give a small scoop instead of the mean one.. ok - not an exact example but the point would be that the car would be "lesser" than what the thing really is.. anyhoo... thats what i was just thinking about the roof scoop option for thetype r shell... but yea, this car def has issues...

    bc5 Legacy Scoop

hahaha...tru tru.. but yea on the bc and gc shape - the v8 sometimes can look oddly too big... the v7sti one is possibly the best for that shape - and its for a fairly huge flow too.. the v8 scoops look better on the gd model cars - ps, the v10 looks soo small in front of a v8 scoop..
  17. dude, if u have not gotten any amps yet then i suggest jaycar response series - they are the best value for money in almost every catogary there is for amp comparison.. highly recomend their 1000w rms unit - its cheap and built like a cold war russien tank!! alpine, pioneer and the likes are good but the jaycar one has the same quality construction and outgrunts most amps for the $$ u pay.. u will not regret a jaycar amp - that is certain!!
  18. v6 sti setup for the kill... have tried various combo - tein and v7/8 sti wrx but find the v6 sti setup the best so far!!! tried and tested personally...
  19. on corollas - bah to them - although the new fielder wagons do look nice to have as a good family car - for the money i would hightly prefer a mazda3 - wayy better in most departments - or the ford focus.... anyway, the heatshield/weather shield thing - im planning to take it off - assuming it allows more cooling of breaks on the track... but then i think - will it allow things like stones etc to mnaybe enter on some bad-issh roads - lol - pot holes and the lot
  20. basically from what i know - only the wrx came with the roof scoop all sti never did the ltd versions etc etc may have but they were wrx ltd or something along the lines any sti shell never had option of roof vent - period thats what i had gathered from interweb trawlings
  21. so it seems subaru have the same calipers on the v7 yet they went to the 16mm bolts...strange.. the only thig i can think of is maybe since mine are the sti wagon spec - something to do with that - otherwise no idea,,
  22. its 2 * 16 mm bolts - just found out this morning is 14 mm on the GC shape models 4 pot breaks? also - what are the general thoughts on removing the break shield thing that is mounted behind the rotor - the round metal plate the size of the rotor. i have been told its a break hseild to keep the rotors warmed up evenly - is it really that necessary to have - does removing it cause less heat in the rotors on the track? thanks
  23. ....better stay away from this then... thanks for the input everyone...
  24. hmmm when wud that be? we also may be heading that way to see it ...
  25. id be fitting a standard sti clutch or maybe a 25% upgrade in pressure plate... you wont need much more with 190kw. ive seen 260 kw wrx with standard clutch but it all depends on your wallet.... to get an uprated pressue plate - do they "retune" a new unit or is it something that has to be ordered separately.. what are the costs involved with uprating the pressure plate?
