Subject of much debate.
If you want a high-quality intercooler for about that power level, you can get the HKS GDB kit I mentioned above from Redline on Trademe right now for the ridiculously low price of $645 or something. Due to small core volume though probably not good for much more than ~275wkw
You could fit a WAIC. After all, The cooler the air the higher the Hp, Duration of required high Hp is the real consideration. This must also be calculated against heat transfer efficiency and recovery period duration as well obviously.
20- 30 seconds of WOT and sustained 270+ Kw will sure as get you Mooovin!!(In any gear!)

Here is some info on this subject. http://clubsub.org.nz/forum/showthread.php?41560-Catch-Can-Return-Line

Just came across this and thought of this thread https://www.japanparts.com/parts/detail/8671
WOW! That makes a well designed WAIC look incredibly cheap to buy/install and far more functional too!
Best way to intercool? ...Water!
Let another discussion begin! Lol.

Oem breather system or evacuated catch can system is the only way to ensure condensation at low levels in the crankcase. Or stop burning hydrocarbon based fuels. LOL.
Crankcase pressure must be below atmospheric pressure to maintain low moisture levels. Its the only way!

Yes there is a "collar" under the rectangular cover a 10 mm fitted bolt (don't drop it inside the box!) locates the selection lever to the rod. Must be removed to allow housing to come away.
Damn site easier to remove the whole gearbox to do this though. Good luck doing it underneath the vehicle.

Isle of man tackled by a top driver in just an ordinary abfab car! Awesome. As usual http://www.stuff.co.nz/motoring/videos/10126559/Subaru-WRX-smashes-Isle-of-Man-record

Im running p2 block/heads and what I'm sure is a p1 exhaust mani. The mani seems too short it takes a bit of leverage to get it on and it stretches the bellow to make it fit. Is there a difference in the deck height that causes that?
No its a miss match of the front crossover pipe and the up pipe. Early up and recent(late 90's) crossover.
Oh oops not up pipe and cross over issue.
Deck height differenes would/should not cause this.
However "stretching" a wee bit to make the crossover pipe fit is not a problem.
Treat it as a pull up cold clearance.

well it was .
just spoke to neighbours . they had tools taken and both cars broken into this week .
my chainsaw was stolen out of work ute this week .
the legacy wasnt even worth stealing in my opinion . like u couldnt strip it for parts and its hardly worth joy riding in
stock as half worn out 94 gt auto with 260 on the clock
when did someone decide this was acceptable in this country . the arabs sure as bother dont put up with it
Definitely some lowlifes around. Had my 91 with 420,000 on the clock broken into twice in last 6 months. No battery first attempt. Interior alarm scared them off second attempt.
Two ignition barrels a one window destroyed.
Did you get it back lachlan?

Possible corrosion issue with injectors. Or:- are you sure cam sensor plug and no2 injector leads are not transposed?
-
ok so now have the pedal retracting fine just picked one from work (repco) and made it fit lol genuine spring is about 20$ from the dealer
but the car is kinda shuddering when going into gears most of the time not all of the time tho so im thinking i may have to do the clutch even tho its supposed to be done before i brought it but who really knows lol
just dont know what sort of clutch i should buy should i genuine or go aftermarket
clutch shudder, Equals over extending pressure plate or it now has preload.

Ah Ha... Now I see!!...Your fuel pressure should increase as boost comes on not decrease.
So its either a broken vac line to the fuel reg or a faulty fuel reg.
/quote]
edit: Nope doesn\'t decrease if engine speed and load are increasing, they dip down to 38 or 39 for a sec when there is no throttle input
Cheers for the input anyway.. I wish it was something as simple as that buddy..
Does the fuel pressure increase with boost coming on at all? It should do.. I understand the decrease under throttle off.
Must say that these TT units can be a pain in the rectum to sort out at times though.
There are some here who know them exceptionally well. Im surprised that one of them has not chimed in with a "how too" as yet.
-
Mmm.. Maybe, sort of already eliminated that. Fuel pump runs at 42psi approx and went for run with guage and it never went below 39psi.. Flow rate part of the gauge not working thanks to someone losing the little metal ball and just chucking a wee ball bearing in.
Swapped in another FF a while ago and no change.
Symptoms happen at basically 5-10% (read can also not happen at that throttle. Its intermittant and the symptoms can come at various times, as has been said before seems to improve with heat, but this is not always true lol) throttle so its not a WOT starvation issue, far more complex issue of either wiring or the twin turbo system

Partially blocked fuel filter...OR fuel pump failing. (Not allowing required flow for WOT). :
-
Split plastic turbo outlet pipe. i.e:- between turbo and intercooler.( where you have noticed the oil)
No CEL for this one!
-
Fuel pump.! Pressure is? You have already noticed reduced flow. Could be baffle around filter on pump inside the fuel tank has come loose. This causes the fuel pick up pipe to bend and reduce the fuel pressure/flow.
Pretty sure ive said fuel pump already.... So have others.

Everything MSNZ affiliated car clubs have to offer. Motorkana, Autokana, Autocross,Track sprints,Hillclimbs (gravel & tar),Rallysprints,Rallies.
And you only have to be a member of one club to be allowed to attend any other clubs MSNZ sanctioned event. Great fun!

Electrical issue. Check all plugs plugged in correctly. Actually "clipped" together.
Engine codes? other than #11 No codes? try, Failing fuel pump?. Check the pressure whilst cranking.

TT heads flow better than STI ..in standard un modified port configuration....Who would have thought? lol.
Easy as to do the shim under mod and swap the sti or some decent cams into as well.

Flow bench tested with evidence or hearsay?
have a careful read here. "fuji" knows all there is to know about flow. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=903873&highlight=head+flow
Also here. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1728481&highlight=head+flow

what condition is the clutch in? how is selecting reverse?
/quote]
Selecting every other gear perfectly. Just not 1st. Maybe selector fork. How would I check that? Pull off shifter boot and have a look there?
Clutch is mint
Gearbox out job this one. then split the box. all will be revealed.

Biggest plate size you can get. Kevlar faced. Then have it setup with at least 4000 lb of clamp. Works for my 250Kw.

Wheel bearing. Or the sensor.

How would liquid waste make its way from the crankcase to the turbine blades?
Intrigued to know.
(Unless you mean compressor wheel?)
MY error. Yes compressor turbine wheel specifically.(Inlet)((Where the air enters the turbo))
Ya dont want debris Either liquid or solid going in there! AT ALL.
Standard PCV is also a restriction by design. Not specifically a spring loaded non return valve.
-
Mmmm. to comment or not? Mmmm.

you know you can contribute to a discussion with your ideas or opinions, just leave out the bullshit
pointless either way. or increased points.
Ive done this pcv stuff.Measured crankcase pressures etc. The crap created in the crankcase should be removed. Gas and fluid.
Pcv fitted to make sure liquid waste does not end up hitting the turbine blades (Turbo cars)
here is some reading on how to:- http://www.clubsub.org.nz/forum/index.php/topic,42008.msg534608.html#msg534608
There ya go! A sensible comment. At minus 11. Now lets see what transpires.
