  1. Hey mate, glad you got this sorted, might check mine cause Ive just found some oil in the big connector by the driver side is there any harm in removing the filter? Did you have any oil in your loom connector at all from this ? thanks
  2. definately after 50 weight, I saw some 40 weights at repco and supercheap, but thought it might be a bit thin to run on the track, anybody run 40 weights on the track at all ?
  3. are they fully synthetic or semi synthetic ? was really after fully synthetic, was wanting a slightly thicker oil thats all, as it will be seeing the track once every 6 months, and I thought stepping up to a 50 weight was a smart thing to do, but it seems impossible to find a fully synthetic 50 weight. I did see penrite 10w50 semi synthetic on the shelf tho
  4. where can I find some ? been to repco and supercheap, both dont have 15w50, nor 10w50 fully synthetic, got some 10w60 castrol edge in the end, but just concerned it may be too thick ? anybody know where I can get some 15w50 or 10w50 ? thanks
  5. yeah I think its due to the re01r having such wide and solid shoulders compared to tyres with softer side walls, not that Im complaining about that ;D
  6. yeah, ive used them before on my civic type R and loved them to bits over any other tires ive used. It only rubs when I get decent lock and roll, if Im taking corners at about 80~100 I dont get as much lock and wont rub, but 40~50 kms hard cornering will make it rub. and I definately notice the longer ratio. takes longer to rev up, not overly fussed with it at the moment, as the cars used primarily on the road, its only in the top rev range that I notice it. hopefully these stand up to some grief Ill be giving them at hamptons
  7. just put them on, they rub when I turn hard on a slow medium corner. around faster corners it should be fine, had the same issues in my last cars, will find out soon enough. I think the 40 profile is more suited for them tbh. They look good tho, and the tyres are re01r bridgestones. Best the money can buy imo before re11s. They are 2nd hand, but heaps of tread on them
  8. oh so you run 225/45 profile ? should be sweet then, thanks for that man
  9. Hey all, Im upgrading from factory size of 205/50/16, to a 225/45/17 and it looks like theres approximately 3.5% difference in tyre circumference, Is this a big of a deal ? basically putting V7 wheel/tyres on to a V5 STi. Anybody running this combo ?
  10. Oh sweet, I've been doing regular trackdays coming from a honda ITR so not really new to track driving, had baffled all my honda Type Rs running Semi slicks, But just a bit concerned with taking the STi being turbo and all. Sweet, I'll be taking it pretty easy as it will be first time getting out there in this STi, some semis, brakes and cooling mods to come very soon. already got an alloy radiator sitting to be installed this weekend
  11. damn I see, would running a heavier oil such as 15w-50 on the track help with oil starvation at all ? Im running 10-30 atm I think, and also our cars dont come with any factory oil cooler of some sort?
  12. Hey all, Ill be taking my car to the track for its first time in a few weeks time, can some one tell me if I have a factory baffled sump? is a proper baffled sump necessary just running on road tyres ? and do our Cars have factory fitted oil coolers at all ? The car is a 1999 Version 5 STi BTW, Thanks
