Pretty sure OP's car is an XT. Yep JDM XT, will do some investigating.. If I had a leak surely I'd have other symptoms?

Wow really? I've got a SG5 forester XT and I only get 0.7 - 0.8 bar (10 - 11 psi)Wonder if my gauge is mis reading or I have an issue..

Hi, literally joined the forum tonight.
I bought myself a 2001 Impreza STi Wagon not too long ago and i'm scared i'm going to blow my engine soon.
I was just wondering if anyone had any recommendations for someone who could have a look at my coolant system for me, as I have no idea what i'm doing

Fraser from M45 automotive put it on his hoist and diagnosed the LH rear wheel bearing in a matter of seconds

We have a press frame that our enerpacs bolt into, have a 20 ton and a 50 ton enerpac cylinder, so that's not an issue. But I don't want to get stuck of something goes wrong and then have an out of action car.. Might take the safe route and get a hub haha

What is best to do is really up to you,
If you replace the bearing then you have the piece of mind knowing its brandnew, The downside of this is you have to go without your car while the repair is carried out, Last time i priced a bearing kit for r160 rear was around 110 from bnt, In some cases the bearing moves on the carrier so then you need another hub anyway as the bearing is no longer press fit.
Its a gamble with another secondhand replacement as it could be bent and you wouldn't know till its fitted to the car.. usually the shocks are hard to fit when the hubs bent.. unless the shocks are bent but when they are its usually fairly noticeable)
I've got a hydraulic press at work so was thinking of doing it myself, Is it a mission?

Is it better to change the hub rather than just the bearing? I got quoted &75 for a bearing kit.
The diff is an R160 as far as I'm aware (factory STi v5, not an RA)

So I'v noticed this sound from the back of my car, sounds like a humming/buzzing/low flying propellor plane kind of noise.
It's most noticeable when driving on smooth asphalt, as there is less road noise to drown it out and is prominent on over run or when slowing coming up to a stop.
It doesn't seem to change when turning, etc and is noticebale once above 20 km/h
Wheel bearing? Diff? Tyres?
I've looked at the tyres and they seem fine, am gonna swap front for rear to see if it changes, but in the mean time, can you look at the video I took and give me you opinion?

I just priced genuine seals, washers, spark plug seals and half moon plugs and it's about $260 all up for both sides

My car has a HKS Hi Power (not silent hi power) cat back exhaust.
It's overly loud, you can't hear the passenger talking when sitting on 100 km/h
I just looked down inside with a torch and it looks 'empty' inside the muffler
Has anyone got one on their car that can have a look and see if there is any baffling? I would have thought there would be something in there, even some of that thin sheet thats full of holes or the like.
I'm wondering if someone has ripped it out to make it louder
Is there anyway I can quieten it down a bit without using a bung type silencer?

where did you get the sticker from? im going to need one for my v6 since ive replaced the factory damaged one with one off an HX D:

That's for this particular variant, it depends what colour your car is, as some have the 'Subaru Impreza' and STi logo in white to show up on the darker colour cars.

I need to do the rocker cover gaskets on my V5 STi, does anyone know if these heads in the V5/V6 EJ207 have the halfmoon bungs?
I've only ever done gaskets on a V4 (ej20K) and that had the half moons that I also replaced.
Just wondering before I start getting prices for parts..
If someone knows the genuine part numbers, that would also be useful..

Had a bumper painted and got it fitted as my old one was stuffed..
Also got some goodies for the car today..
Got a wrinkle in the sticker when I was putting it on so that pissed me off! oh well, can only tell close up haha.

Neither of my v4 STIs had them and all 3 of my mates v3s HAVE had them...
I've had both a V3 & a V4 with them. And a google search of 'GC8 rear aero mud guards' shows them on V5/V6 as well as this mint V5 in Japan that I posted earlier http://www.todoroki-trading.com/stoc...ersionV-5.html
So i'm gonna go with the theory they are an option

Forester XT performance upgrade options?

I just put V7 STi struts & springs in my SG5 XT, huge difference, in both looks and handling, Though it is a tad stiff now (well for Christchurch roads anyway) I put V7 wrx seats in mine too, makes it feel a bit more sporty. My next plan is WRX or STi sway bars, and STi intercooler.
