Picked up a Genome axle back from rex-leggy
Fitted up no probs at all and looks 100 times better than the frankenstine muffler I had

my thread http://www.clubsub.org.nz/forum/index.php/topic,32969.0.html
I was having all sorts of issues with my V7, surging, power dropping off, and the same boost issue as you are having (turned out to be the AFM after all) but I was also advised to change the knock sensor. So if you\'ve already done the AFM (I assume it was for a new or known good one?) then it\'s worth a shot.
Better still, find someone who has a laptop set up with RomRaider software and a tactrix cable. They can then datalog your car and diagnose a fault much quicker and without wasting time replacing parts

Try knock sensor

WIKI EJ15 2004
yea dunno
maybe that thing plugged it next to the throttle body?
That\'s what I thought initially too, but as Marky said, it\'s a temp sensor.
Am I right in saying that fuel injected cars must have an AFM?
This is the problem with the n/a Subaru\'s, there isn\'t a wealth of knowledge online about them.

Was going to clean the AFM on my gf\'s impreza but i can\'t find the AFM! Well at least not one that looks anything like or is in the same place as my car..
What am I missing here.. Haha
-
I replaced the AFM, your symptoms sound similar to mine, high gears, under load (hills, etc) seriously, find a mate with the same AFM and swap it out, go boost up a hill and see what happens. I was using 98 fuel as well but it was still setting due to ecu not seeing correct air flow
-
I had the same thing on my v7. I\'d get target boost then it would go to 0.5 bar and stay like that until ecu reset. Turned out to be AFM. Incorrect reading causing incorrect fueling, leading to mass det, causing ecu to cut boost. I didn\'t have any codes either..

Yeah I went to fill up at BP Riccarton yesterday, hopped out of car and went to grab the nozzle and it was yellow!!
Looks like we will all have to start running 95. I had to use 95 for 2 weeks when I was down in central otago, and to be honest I didn\'t notice a difference, although I\'m sure the ECU was adjusting the knock correction (IAM? Blair will correct me haha) to suit.

Little bit heavier
4 pots as opposed to brembo\'s
erm... that\'s about it??
Narrower track (steel control arms, well on mine anyway)
Spring rates are different
Doesn\'t have the pumped front guards like the sedan
Front bumper is different (vents around the spotlight covers are different) as well as being narrower
Wheels are different offset (more or less gold B4 wheels) slightly different styling to the sedan wheels
Engine and drivetrain are the same

Something like prodrive did here?

although it\'s kinda between a top mount and a front mount haha

Ok so odd ball question, I\'ve always wondered why some cars have plates with 4 or 5 characters, that aren\'t personalized plates.
For example I used to have a TJ659
And my girlfriends car also has only 5 characters.
Anyone know why?

I\'m looking at some wheels on trademe but they are on the north shore in Auckland and I\'m in christchurch.. Does anyone know how much it costs to send wheels and which company is cheapest?
Cheers
Ben

Haha after all the hesitation issues I had I can vouch for air flow meter!

Uniweld on Main south rd charged by $60 to weld an exhaust onto my old WRX

How much for the Profec?

As title states,
Have been quoted $300 from Armstrong Subaru, however I found this one on trademe, http://www.trademe.co.nz/537854894
Does anyone know if these are legit? Armstrongs are saying its probably parallel imported with a genuine sticker??

Blair (Chappell943) came over today and we did some logging, I\'m not 100% on the in\'s and outs of it all but Blair really knows his stuff! Turns out it was the MAF sensor (hopefully Blair see\'s this post and can give the particulars) basically faulty MAF sensor causing incorrect load readings which caused excessive ignition timing and a leaner fuel mixture, we think this was causing the ecu to cut boost on and off, causing the surge but we plugged his MAF into my car and it made a night and day difference in both how the car drove and the figures showing up on the laptop.
So now the hunt is on for a new MAF sensor!
