1. Heh, I rate the hell out of my old man's ASX. Assume you didn't have the 2.3L common rail turbo diesel? More torque than a WRX, it hauls arse off the line. Gobs of power for a small vehicle.

Nah some kind of fwd 2L non turbo petrol version . It handled off road areas very badly (bouncy as hell) , had bugger all torque , a steering wheel you could drive with your pinky (way too much assistance), overly assorted brakes, nothing happens for ages after flooring the accelerator pedal and not that great boot space for a big vehicle (my hatch has more!).. just an all around bad car lol. Actually rented the i30 but this was the ‘free upgrade’ because that was not available when we arrived . Oh also was lead to believe for ages the fuel economy was amazing because it was on half bar until 500km, then suddenly when to E at 550km lol. Bit overly critical here but that thing was just an awful experience unable and I’m really glad to be back in my car

2. The thing is though, they're very much 'same same'. The difference is, one has a heavy as all heck pressure plate, and one doesn't and they may have different friction materials but I doubt they've got more. If anything you may find more wear from the heavy duty.

Also, with heavy clutches like the aforementioned also introduce other wear on the vehicle a lot of people don't realise. For example more load and wear on the thrust bearings, potentially causing early failure. Flex in the firewall (metal fatigue), because you're fighting to push down a clutch. Also obviously more pressure on the clutch master and slave cylinders, obvious reasons

Theres more to consider as you'll probably realise now than just what sort of power the clutch can hold. Well intended I have no doubt but a learning point no less. Someone on here schooled me about it a long time ago lol.

I just saw something about masters and slaves, can you explain it again plz?

3. Aaaaand the RA has now been tuned properly for e85. And only E85 haha

Giving the vf36 a leaning on and pushing 1.5Bar of boost through the poor old EJ205, and she loves it! Good lord this thing goes far better than it did before.

Bit of a kick in the guts considering the last engine cost me about 7k + some after it nuked and this ol 205 was nothing but $500 including a new water pump and cam belt kit!! None the less I’m bloody happy biggrin.png

I wasn't going to post, as it seems the S-GT gets a lot of hate on this forum. But meh.

Purchased myself a little 07 S-GT 3 weeks ago. Had a v7 WRX a few years ago, but decided I needed a bigger car as I had plans to have a family... yeah, so, that didn't happen. Decided I was sick of having boring mum car so flicked it and got the S-GT.

Unfortunately funds didn't allow for me to buy the STI, maybe next time!

Open to suggestions for changes etc :) as i say, i've only had it 3 weeks.

nice dude, what hate? haha lot of impreza love in here. was close to getting sgt myself some time ago but i was spoiled by the tight STI 6 speed there was no looking back after that. change wise i dunno,  doing bunch of random things on mine myself, currently in the cheap ebay mods phase cos im the self crowned ricer of the forum right now.

5. Couple more items turned up today on the courier.

Brand new Damd D-shaped wheel from cyruslow

And a some OBD2 readers, hoping at least one plays nice with the EMTron so I can get some digital gauges back on the tablet. If they don't work then I'll be going to a Windows based setup instead. Been eying up a Latte Panda Alpha/Delta but they're rather expensive for what it'll end up doing.

Holy crap, super jealous of that wheel!!! Is that something which cyruslow supplies here in Nz or was a one off?

6. Could well be a ground, issue. Would probably pay to chuck one of those aftermarket grounding kits on. When you eventually relocate the battery and direct feed the fuel pump you’ll resolve that end too

In terms of root issue however, if getting good stable feed at pins (measure resistance too, as you would when checking for solid grounds when installing an amp for example) but link reporting much less then either software bug or some power distribution issue. Either way you ain’t got fuel speed controller so just direct feed that sucker with fuse/relay , chuck in a #racecar like pump prime / kill switch too

Doesn’t link have some diagnostic / testing mode for the injector controls? I recall seeing something like that when playing around with mine

8. hmmm seeing as they have a grb section, does that mean they can guarantee it in the right offsets to clear your brakes and such? i think that was the main concern right?

that last BBS one looks really cool, the first one looks cool too but at same time it's almost identical to the newer subarus stock wheel

Right. I can go into details now. In short, im not covered for this as i wasn't the one driving and being under 25 anyone else under the age of 25 isn't covered. It hurts but i understand where the insurance company is coming from. At current im $510 down for glasses that went flying and tomorrow i have to get the car out of the tow yard which will set me back another $1378.

The girl who was driving has agreed to pay for the car and all the damages but has told me that i wont get the money for months or she will have to pay me weekly. Her next offer which im yet to take is to take her car ( A manual, turbo MR2) as payment for my car and im trying to get her to pay for the towing as well, which again will be a weekly instalment thing so im not impressed as im the one out of pocket. but we are lucky that i managed to get out relatively unharmed and her with a small cut on the shoulder and a concussion.

As to what happened in order to cause the damage, she wasnt paying attention and as we came around the bend she noticed we were going into the other lane and yanked the steering wheel to the left and smacked the brakes. All 4 wheels locked up and we understeered into a bank which sent the car airborne and we rolled a few times. Im surprised that neither the ABS or the airbags worked.

As for those wanting to help, just do me the favour of checking your insurance is up to date and allows other drivers, and keep yourselves safe. This has been a very eye opening experience for me and i dont want more people getting into this sort of trouble like i did.

Oh, and if anyone sees a facelift, manual twin turbo legacy for sale thats relatively cheap, let me know. it would be such a waste of my ST kit if i bought something else.

thats hectic as again glad you're safe, that you're still in love with lookin for same kinda car and that you can be so positive about it sharing your experiences / learnings! the under 25 one is a massive one along with restricted license drivers or 'inexperienced' drivers who haven't had their full for atleast 2 years, meaning either they're not covered or if covered, have to pay something crazy like $2k in excess usually.

i'm a little surprised she had that reaction considering she's an mr2 driver, usually that car teaches people way more caution through harsh punishments

What the actual f are those?!?!?!

some fake plastidip. i got sent a box by seller before when i ordered 4 cans of yellow, they didnt want it back so yeah, putting them to 'good' use now lol. i sprayed bunch of fluro yellow, fluro green, some blue plastidips, then topped off with gold. i knew they wouldn't be seen much so the goal was just for the lols + provide some contrast when they do happen to be seen. it peels off fine.. but dont peel it off please :P

11. ^ take all with a grain of salt though . i like the way they look and price point, but wouldn't get them myself, as prioritize strong light wheels myself. if you're just wanting the wheels for looks/stance then it's probably more than good enough.. they aint gonna fall apart or chip/crack just from normal driving and would indeed look pretty sweet on your ride provided they're the right offset and all.
