Biggest things that will actually improve performance is new plugs, air filter and fluids.Hi guys, I just bought my first subaru A 2007 Impreza 15S newly imported
I don't know the first thing about car mods and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for the cheapest things I can do to improve performance?
I've done some research and it seems like getting a cool air intake will help and is pretty cheap?
Any suggestions/information would be appreciated!

Any pics?Hi everyone so I've just bought a 2006 Legacy Sedan the guy I bought it off said it was pretty rare as the interior was the prototype for sti or something around those lines apparently theres only 10 of these in New Zealand as well only done 76,000km I'm wondering where I could find a body kit for it or if its possible an Impreza body kit is interchangeable.

I understand your position, you feel like the car is now tainted in some way and it's taken away your general likeness for the car and feel like you won't enjoy it as much as you would have had you known the actual truth.Back on topic, now im really not sure what to do. Have some people saying i should go to the tribunal and others not.
what i want to know is i paid 6500 for this car with 144,000km on it, other than a cracked dash and some scratches the car is in good nick. Even if the cambelt isn't what they say think it was an ok deal?
contemplating just selling it on
Been there done that. But if it's a good car then drive it and enjoy it. Spend some $$ if you want getting the cambelt done, but I bet it doesn't need doing. Sure belts can perish with age but most of the time they are good for 10+ years
Unless you can prove they knowingly misadvertised the car then you will be wasting time at the tribunal. Things like pre purchase inspection etc comes into this here. It's all about buyer doing their due diligence.- 3

Added a little rear spoiler. Probably won't stay but looks ok I guess.

Mine really only makes an audible noise over 40kms, then it's quieter at 100 and is most noticeable at 80
-
Hmmm cheers for that mate, yeah it makes noise all the time and I've noticed it's louder in the mornings too. Can't say I've noticed a difference when turning to be honest I should check that out, we don't have much corners here lol

So had this into another shop, this time they told me they could not locate any noise in the gearbox or diff. He said he thinks it is still a wheel bearing issue or brake rotor. He didn't want to pull hub off in case it was rooted and I was stuck.
So it's still not completely diagnosed and noise has gotten quieter if anything. -
Next time your near here hit me up.
I'd come if it lined up with my various trips to Blenheim each year

I'd be keen for a meet up though if we did manage to get a few members together.
Yeah thought that might be the case!

Just checked fluid, I did ask them to confirm fluid levels. I've been super busy at work so just haven't had a chance to do S***, and low and behold it's on L, not even close to the middle or near full....
-
Shop said they think it's a bearing in the gearbox. Couldn't tell me at all where or what it would be and said they just heard where it came from. Not convinced to be honest
-
Been taken into the workshop to have it looked at, drove with the guy and he said it sounded like brakes for a second but because it's 100% wheel speed dependent he's thinking it's front diff. Will see once hey out on hoist and use stethoscope. Conflicting advice from Subaru specialists who couldn't look at it till next week though
-
Just chatted with subaru specialists here and they said it's 100% either the brake pad is gone or the bearing so that's good
-
Is that a big job if it's the hub?
squeaking probably the bearing... but if it's very bad then the hub could be shagged... and boon said even the axle stub.
-
It's 100% left front wheel, so can only be a bearing then? Have ordered regardless
-
I'm fairly certain that's what it is, have ordered a set through a guy I know and he's going to do both sides for me.For what it's worth, on my V7 the bearing was so shagged that it destroyed the stub bit and it still had no play.
-
Great looking car!
-
Mine is a heavy whine sound, but it definitely does have some tumbling tooOne of my rears is noisy too. Rumbles and increases with speed but it has no play what so ever. And its 100% not diff or gearbox noise as they have been changed and the noise still remains. Seems common on these cars to be noisy and not actually move though.
-
I don't have a 32mm socket lol, noise has quitened down alot. I took it out and hit the brakes hard a few times and seemed to do something I'm wondering if the pad is sticking against the rotor at the back?
-
Nope doesn't change with braking. Undo the actual 32mm hub nut?Does it go away when you are on the brakes?
Undo the hub nuts and see how loose the bearings are then.
-
Uhhg is it brakes? I feel so conflicted on what it is.
-
The wheel was very solid when I tried moving it both ways. Just the usual movement in the wheels no play that I could feel. But doesn't rule it out noise is 100% coming from upfront, I'm way more leaning towards being bearings again because it's only around the wheels I can hear the noise. I'm going to have it looked at and see what they say. Have hubs and bearings lined up if it is themIf the bearing is squeaking it's usually because it's seized completely and the outer shell is rotating in the hub.
No rumbling because the bearing is not actually moving at all. It will wreck the hub pretty quick when it gets
to that stage. You should be able to move the wheel though... if not by hand, then with a crow bar under the tire.
Or it could be the brake pads.
-
Pretty sure it's not rpm related but more so to speed. There is no noise when idling which I assume would be the case if it was altenator?Dumb question maybe but it's not RPM-linked is it? I got some horrible whiney grindy noises when the bearing in my alternator belt idler failed.
