Was just wondering what happeneds to the way your car drives if you got a gearbox that is a different gear ratio to that wich is ideal to your engine? Does it just lose power or not drive good. Mostly how noticable is it? Cheers guys

lol nah i got standard setup now. Im just really unfortunate aye lol i drive it 'normal' boost to pass cars n shit but giving the way i drive i got the short end of the stick going through 2 boxes and an engine . . . well engine was my fault tryna beat my mates silvia on 18psi Def going to sell it after i get it running sweet though man . . get a 2002 + under 80,000 lol Thanks for the help though guys!

Hey everone. . Sorry for repeating topic if it has already been discussed. I have a v3 wrx wagon, replaced a gearbox. . then a engine. . now need another gearbox. Just wondering if any other subaru gearbox will be able to work in my wrx. I read that a GTB box will fit and work fine but justy want to double check before i purchase. Thanks alot! Im not sure what the turbo is, cant see. Im not verry mechanically minded, may be an up-pipe leak? Not sure what that is aye. I have a boost tap set to 10psi atm. when the boost kicks in and im flat foot, sometimes it hesitates on acceleration. If the turbo what 2 big. what would be the next steps to insure that my car would accomodate that turbo nicely, and reduce lag? what are the basic steps 2 reduce lag for a starters?

Gidday, Got a v4 single turbo sti engine in my WRX wagon. Top mount intercooler, Possibly a bigger turbo, has a pod filter. Stock apart from that. To me it seems like the boost take forever to kick in from launch. It doesnt start pulling until 4500 revs. Is this normal??? What can i do to lower the boost lag. Any help will be sweet. Ta, DJ

Well after aftermarket parts fail work (gave it a go . . didnt work), think you would try genuine parts? Mechanic didnt. . . Then lost all my oil again. . . Had to take it 2 him for the 3rd time. . Told him to use genuine parts. 3 Months on no problems. . . Dont mind paying for genuine parts. What i dont want to do is have 2 take my car back to a mechanic 3 bloody times. . Time = Money

Well hasnt been using oil since we used the genuine parts. mechanic trying to be cheap, wont go back there.

Lol well cant afford a v8 so i'll just put the scoop on so i can see it when im driving and i will feel cool hahaha

Ok, talked to the mechanic, camseal was aftermarket going to get him to use genuine. also the leak is only coming from the cam seal so i have been told. Cheers

Ohh ok, i'll have to double check with him. I was told he specialised in subaru but im not sure, but yea they are genuine parts.

Hey, Just wondering if anyone has had this problem before and knows some possible causes. A while back the car started leaking oil. I took it to a mechanic the main problem was the cam seal leaking. He fixed it and was all good for about 100km's then smoke comming off the exhaust manifold The bloody thing has done it again. I took it back and he came to the conclusion that he needed to glue the seal in (mechanic mate of his told him that was why is crapped out) i mean im no mechanic but it seems a bit odd to glue it in, i maybe wrong. Sure thing, 100km approx later . . same thing. Im hoping someone has had the same problem and can tell me how the resolved it, because i really feel i need to tell this mechanic how to do his job or i'll never have my car for more than 2 days.
