  1. Update. Engine was pulled and heads stripped off. Both head gaskets were gone. Machined the heads and the block. Apparently boost pressure was making its way through the head gasket in to cooling system but the radiator pressure was not enough to get in the the cylinders. Caught it in time.

  2. thanks. new radiator so not blocked. new rad cap. std pressure one. top and bottom hoses just as hot as one another. its leaking all around the seal of the cap. and the fans are kicking in. i contacted the seller who had no hesitation in paying fot the repair. he will pay parts and machining and ill do the labour. i am a mechanic and im sure it is head gasket but just wanted to ask here first. next question. where to get cheap arp head studs and what head gasket to use???

  3. Hi. I searched this but could not find anything. Sorry if it already exists.

I brought a v7 wrx on the weekend. It has had a full alloy radiator installed recently. I test drove it and checked it over and it all seemed fine. I drove it home 5 hr trip. Coolant temp fine all the way down. Checked the coolant level following day and was down a bit. Went for a short trip today and noticed the top hose was very hard and coolant was leaking from around the cap. I replaced the cap with a new one and this is still leaking. The top hose is rock hard. Does this seem to be a head gasket issue?

Lots of threads on here that covers rwd conversions already(use the search) and do you want to build the engine yourself or or get sumone to build it for you while you watch or just buy a pre-assembled reconditioned long block? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Car-parts-accessories/Subaru/Engines/auction-349481390.htm

yeh been searching, im a mechanic so can build it myself just thought someone on here might know some tricks, all so as comment above saying "buy a nissan" if i wanted a nissan i would, but why have something that 90% of drifters have, not that i want to drift my suby,

  5. hey just quick question, whats the best way to go about building a strong engine, i have a 99 wrx, i dont want to run big power just reliable and no knocking noises, im looking in to a rwd converstion and want something to handle the rev's,

    whats a good option,

Basically The double lines are on the bottom left and right cams, and the single notches are on the top left and right cam gears make sure all marks are lined up before you pull cam blet off, other wise the valves will not be in the Zero lift , and will strike each other and bend..

thanks unfortunatly the belt was pulled off whilly nilly, thats the problem i have, fixing someone elses mistake,
