Message Dave at BrakeTech, he will look after you: https://www.facebook.com/Braketech
I heard Bendix Ultimates are EOL for 4 pots
Welcome back - loved seeing your GC8 rip up Manfield
Legend that will do nicely. I'm not married to the Ultimates so happy to have someone who knows what there talking about recommend for me.
Gosh I miss Manfeild... I was chatting to my WOF guy today and he reckons the 6-7 odd years hes now been doing my WOFs I have done less than 1500 KM combined on them. I didnt, but I do now and it made me a bit sad.
Wifey and I made a deal today I am going to spend a few bucks on the car over the next year so might see me around a bit although Manfeilds a hike now. Maybe if Flatnats is there next year I could trailer queen her down.

Been a while...
The Subi needs its first set of pads in about 10 years so it's fair to say I'm rusty and have questions.
1. Are Bendix Ultimates still the easy answer to "Whats a good street pad?" I have also heard they are super low dust right? /s
2. Anyone got a part number for 4 pot front pads of Ultimates or some other recomendation pad? 294 Mil rotor jobby from memory.
Keen to not spend the earth but want to stop well when I need too. Looking for the part number so I don't have someone look up my rego or VIN and send me home with the wrong pads.

I ran Gull 98 almost exclusively for a number of years and never had any issues. That was back when I brought the car and I have had it almost 10 years now. The chat about fuel lines etc was mainly better safe than sorry warranty backside covering by Subaru (and most car companys) I think.

Lol politics... Until we stop treating Political parties like sports teams we wont get very far.
Bottom line is if you want to play you have too pay, neither the Govt (of any denomination) nor oil company's have any interest in lower fuel prices. Much like many home grown NZ company's the gouge is on so they take it with both hands. You dont have to look far in NZ to see local company's who charge a ridiculous mark up in NZ simply because they can while exporting far cheaper. They gouge locally to subsidize internationally because they work to the mentality that they would rather have 1% extra profit than 10% extra customers in a local setting. A little OT there, sorry...
I must admit every time I fill up in the U.S. the petrol head in me gets a little tingle. Last Tuesday I took a Chevy Suburban from Quarter to full for about 60 USD... God bless America lol

If the WRX is legal and squared away I will be at the track. If not I will come for lunch, visit family and drop in for the track day.

Just waiting for my schedule to firm up but if im in NZ I will be there. Excited as always for MM!!

I have put in plenty of laps there with the 1/2 litre extra oil and had no issues even on Semi slicks. Does seem to claim the odd Subi but I always wondered about its reputation as a Subi killer tbh.
Enjoy your time, it will be a blast im sure.

Haha still better than 0 times I guess
I don't want to sound like a maintenance nazi either, what's important is to adjust the interval to your usage (and of course use good quality fluids).
Its really weird when I think about it because everything else is serviced and changed probably too regularly. Its just something I have overlooked now I think about it. And if I remember right its a prick of a job.

Used to race go carts. Did two track days in dad’s R35 GTR and his 911 Turbo S at Mansfield, wet and dry. Was keeping up with V8 Touring cars in the 911. The track makes cars feel so slow. Even with 580hp the 911 only clipped 220kmh down the Mansfield straight.
Also raced motorbikes, jetskis, jetboat and racing buggy’s.

220 seems a bit soft for that sort of HP. You sure you were doing it right?

I have this gear knob and not a fan at all.
Not a comfortable knob. Need a comfortable knob.
Lol I got used to it. But I must admit my hand is a bit sore after a day on the track with it, but then going back to stock doesnt feel right anymore.

I have similar to this but a genuine STI one...
It took a bit of getting used to as its not exactly smooth on its edges. There machined smooth but kind of have a hard edge on the top and around the sides but I dont think I would change it now.

Taupo or Manfield get my votes for track location. Taupo for its general location and Manfield for its track. With me missing Mega Meet and Flatnats due to family commitments I am in with bells on for the CS 21st.

first time here so bare with me. 😁
I recently purchased a v3 Impreza.the ej20 was rebuilt with a vf28 when I bought it.the car goes great, and fast.but,I'm looking at getting a t3/60-1..now my question is,would it be wise to get new forged internals for the ej20 or move up to an ej25? if so will a long block fit?or would I have to get a short block.would I have to relocate engine mounts? any advice would be appreciated just looking for realistic answers before I start building.
Your kind of all over the show a bit but here goes...
1. Jokers spot on
2. ej20-25 will all bolt right in to the bay but having the right bolt ons is key. Hence short block (Block without bolt ons) vs. Long block (block with manifolds, Heads etc.)
3. When putting a bigger turbo in consider three things that need to work in unison ECU, Injectors and AFM(If your not deleting it).
Bigger turbo means you will probably need bigger injectors to keep up, bigger injectors mean better (tunable or flashable) ecu to keep up. Remember X PSI on a VF28 is not necessarily equal to X PSI on a different turbo. A smaller turbo will flow less at X PSI a bigger one more at X PSI. The more air a turbo flows the more fuel the engine needs to keep its S*** in order. For example 18 PSI on a v5 with Yellow injectors and a VF22 = Fun times 18 PSI on a GTX3071 and yellow injectors on the same car will have issues pretty darn quick.
As soon as you start getting into the realms of retunable ECUs on earlier models forged internals is recommended IMO.
Bottom line, If its fast as it is and you dont have a big arse stack of cash burning a hole in your pocket just enjoy it and do something when it shits the bed. Not before. In the meantime stick about, ask questions and do some reading

I gotta be honest all the chat in here aside no ones ever going to convince me a remote tune is as good as a car on a dyno with someone who understands what there looking at tuning at.
I also obviously got a sick deal as I paid about the same as a stage 2 tune for my complete tune (Dyno), tidy up road tune and some minor works while on the dyno that was affecting the tune.
Shop around team.

-
I havent personally but I would suggest the extra outlay to take it to hands on tuner would probably be worth it for something as specialized as that? The ability for someone to be hands on and trouble shoot issues seems like a fairly key component to me.

Best time I had on a track was in a mates DC2... Thrashed the balls off it and felt like I was doing 6 billion miles an hour down the back straight (as he burned me in my WRX lol) but bugger me I had a smile on my face when I got out of the car.

I put it up on Jack stands, took the wheels off to rotate the tyres, started tittoing with the exhaust bracket I bent at Flatnats then forgot why the wheels were off and put them back on without rotating them and didnt realize until it was off the stands ... Probably the most love its going to see until December.
