It's also a comparison between a 4G63 and EJ257.
And the 2.5 still won't make the numbers.

Put it this way; If the engine has been maintained and in good condition, you can run 14 psi all day every day.

Thats the million dollar question as with any engine i guess.
What sort of condition is it in?
At 500kms on original engine (particularly on a jap turbo 4 banger) you would have to expect it to be in s*** order!
I may be proven wrong but im of the mind its best to play it conservatively until proven otherwise.
That is up to him ascertain. It won't be the original engine.

Just keep an eye on oil usage and leaks, particularly build up in the inlet plumbing. As well as coolant levels.

14 psi is well within OE setup tolerances. I would recommend doing this with a stock 4 plug ECU upgrade.

I would first assess what needs to be done maintenance wise.
No point raising the output of an engine if it's on it's way out. Or perhaps that would be a good reason depending on how you look at it.
Not sure what you mean by an "STI alloy unit" (alternator?)
Override switch or wire to full has been done before in regards to the WAIC. No gains to be had except a slight increase in static throttle response.
After you have done basic breathing modifications you can look into a chip.
Suspension, brakes and rubber equal a faster car overall though.

They bolt straight on. You will need the rotors as well as they are larger than your OE ones.
If you are running a OE type 15" wheel then they will not fit.

I've got brembos and I recon the most important thing is pads/rotors/fluid unless you're building something pretty hardout.
Having said that, Brembos look awesome.
Just to compare: the BMW M3 had 1-pots as standard and that car's a beast!
A brake setup that was widely criticized when bench marked on a track.

165kw@wheels is plenty, your GD is just not particularly light.

When you say stainless steel you mean braided?
Upgrading your lines is similar in feel and gain to a master cylinder bracket. Better Pedal modulation and response under hard braking.

Open deck 2.2 with forged Pistons and standard shot peened rods with uprated bolts.
Bolt your heads on and 20+psi.

i stand corrected but i think the rs-r or rs-ra possible had a vf12 maybe?? anyone know for sure? i think the rs had vf8 or 10
rs-r and rs-ra had coloured cam covers and rs-r had coloured intercooler covering (they abolished the colouring in 91 for the rs-ra's)
89 rs-r had std gbox 90-92 had close ratio
there are a few other things im sure
See above.
The VF12 was fitted to the Australian Liberty's, it is considered slightly larger than a VF8.
The VF8 is a JDM Legacy turbo and was fitted to BC5 and the VF10 for BF5's.
The rest of what you've mentioned is only ever fitted to the Type RA and also incorrect.

A mates looking at a couple of Rs'sss at the moment and was wondering what are the differences in a RS-R over a plain jane RS
Interesting you would say plain jane RS. The RS type R is exactly that.
Mechanically the RS type R runs the same motor and Transmission as the RS, and was only available as a Series 1.
It features a base grade trim without the RS electrics or body kit, which would give you a weight saving and less to remove if you desired to race it; which is how it was marketed.

Whats the details of the rebuild?
Did you access and replace all or some of the lifters?

Sorry, defiantely a bung VF23 thats putting the oil into the intercooler. This is due to the HKS valve not releasing anything.
Its got one tube going to the toip of the manifold, Im suspecting thats not right?
No noise at all from the HKS valve
Which vaccum point are you using?
The vacuum nozzle on the SSQ requires a step down in vacuum hose diameter.
Cheap ones can seize.. sure it's genuine?

I concur with Turtle.

Are there any reviews versus the type r or 22b ?
I have an old issue of something I can't remember, with a comparison of sorts between the UK Impreza, RB5, P1, V5 Type R and 22B.
They Judged the P1 the best drive. The 22B too unforgiving and the Type R was the quickest. Acceleration wise. I'll try and dig it out. General reception was very good.

Give it a good spray with CRC and do the same but tap it with a hammer.
Make sure there's tension on the pulley from the belt.

Tuning has become a popularized word for mapping an ECU on a dynometer.
You could say any modification done with the desire for an effect or change can be considered tuning. Qualification to do so aside.
In 1989RS case his next logical step would be a to fit a chip upgrade.

Think about it, it is a part of the car that is under pressure.
Get the spacer pressed in.

Don't go hard.
Keep your ears open as you have some expert advice at hand.
