  1. If its head gasket then you'll (besides over heating) experience one or two or both symptoms.

1/ Water contamination in you oil (you may need to drain the sump to see) this will result in mayonnaise looking oil.

2/ Oil contamination in your coolant, although this is less likely.

When bleeding the air out try facing your car up a hill. This is a method that works for Gen1 Legacy's not sure about others.

Haha! Go the Legacys! (ol' school rules btw)

    I've owned 4 legacys now

My first was a 89 or 91 STI Turbo Version Sedan, although everyone on rexnet said there was no such thing

(had sti decals up the doors which definately wern't aftermarket and came with different wheels that were lightweight alloy, td04 turbo and some other things like slightly lower and harder springs etc)

Then a Turbo Wagon which probably got the biggest thrashing out of all the cars i've owned (other than my s13 LOL) (hey I was young)

    Then 91 RS Non facelift

    Now a 89 GT Facelift :P

I love the subi powah :-*

For starters don't listen to anybody on "REXnet" when it comes to 1st Generation Legacys ::)

There are STI tuned Gen1 Legacys, i could go on...

FYI Your RS is a series 1 (non facelft) and Zarnahs is a series 2 (facelift)

  3. 0.9 bar is stock as above. Put anything higher on there an you'll stress out all the little coolant hoses that are a real prick to change.

But another one but i don't think you do if it's tight to put on but it goes on then that's fine.

No such thing as STI 4 pot calipers they're just painted red.

They'll bolt on but you'll need 294mm rotors.

huh? I thought the Subaru 4 pots came off a STi ver 3-4 (plus others) A standard version 3 or 4 had 2 pots, yes?.. would that not make the 4 pots an STI brake caliper maybe not STi made.. (technical issue maybe) but an Sti brake caliper? no.... .....

Black 4 pots were found on V4 WRX and mechanically are the same as the Red ones aformentioned so they are not an "STI" caliper but i see what you are trying to say. They made their first appearance on an STI.

Cant remember the exact year, however some std WRX's had them fitted as standard fitment from about ver 3... (might have to google/wiki the year and version it started from).

The fourpots are also the same as the Nissan skyline fourpots and as found on Mazda's (and among others I believe the Toyota Prado has the same calipers as well??)

Indeed, they are made by a company called Sumitomo
