i've heard that you can glaze your syncros?

    /quote]

Yep, there is a method to deglaze which would decrease the crunching you find with worn synchros

Deffinitly sounds like glazed syncros, very easy to fix

I posted about this on the old forums,

However I will not type up how to do as the proceedure done incorrectly can do damage and i aint taking that resonsibility

Anyone Keen can PM me and I will give you my ph# to call and I will explain verbally how to ..

In fact your the very fella who deglazed mine. Definant improvement.

im fairly sure the sensor is just a water level sensor? Mine was also broken and just threw a light so i unplugged it. The sensor unscrews from the body of the ic after you pop the black rubber cover off

Denso low water sensor, found on 89-91 models this would mean you have a silver cooler right?

  3. You should put it back on, seen temp probe readout with and with out an it seems worthwhile i can post it up if you would like.

In saying that my previous Legacy RSR didn't have one but i had thermo wrapped the down pipe and didn't have any problems.

no brass or kevlar clutches wear quickly due to the fact that the pressure plate is so heavy you have to slip them to avoid bunnyhopping the car ;D a standard sti clutch is still quite expencive tho so you could get a 25% urated one from repco. i got one for a customer on my cash card for 379.00 compared to subarus 700.00

Last time i looked on Trademe you can get an Exedy STI 2300mm Clutch kit for $580

  5. Interesting read in MOTOR a couple of issues back, Stock STI vs MRT engine upgrade vs Whiteline suspension upgrade kit.

Obviously the stock STI was out gunned by both upgrades and the two upgrades were tenths of a second apart with the MRT upgrade ahead.

Latest comparison with Focus RS and Mini JCW is not good news for the STI.

    :P

    http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/carreviews/grouptests/234197/new_focus_rs_vs_rivals.html#

The RS presents much more predigree a than an STI, and despite being FWD is more interesting and arguably better looking.

I mean what happened? how can they have such great previous models throughout the platform range and then release something thats been hamstrung? but then i've never been an Impreza fan..

  6. Unless you dyno it before or after, i couldnt say.

When you remove the standard pipe and compare the two its a much larger internal diameter so there must be a gain.

When i put mine on it seemed to boost a bit earlier.

I've got a friend who has one for sale, its blue if that suits? i'll PM him to see if he still has it.

Both Ford and VW have produced some absolute Dogs of cars over the years and and still do in some markets.......

Loren, go drive the current model STi, if you still think Subaru aren't up to your lofty expectations, buy another manufacturers car that suits.

    Cheers

Mate you need to relax, you'll find most people on here are loyal to subaru, and many of us feel that the new STI is a little soft (it is) we aren't the only ones many publications have had extensive road and track use of a current STI and have the same issues.
