  1. I own a 2010 Legacy 2.5GT with the 5 speed auto and its been fine, not sure what the DA20 DIT with CVT would be like. We have a 2017 Outback with CVT and its all good I know subaru had issues with its first generation CVT

On another note also having a hard time getting the seatbelt chime to shut up.  Done the IGN on and 20 times buckle/unbuckle, more than 20 times, turn IGN off again after, turn car on after completing but nothing seems to stick.  Drives me mad reversing trailers, getting out at the letterbox etc.  Advice on that most appreciated.

It will still do the beep for about 6 beeps then should stop. Make sure you put the belt in all the way and dont go to fast. Seems most fail cos they do it too fast for the computer to think its latched

  3. So I skipped the 4th gen legacy so can't compare to that sorry but have now done almost 40,000km on my 2010 LGT with the 5 speed auto.

Mine came on STI springs so sits a bit lower than the rest, but otherwise they are pretty heavy and like to go straight. With some bracing and some good tires they will go around corners ok but I felt my 2000 LGT was lighter and easier to drive the twisty roads.

As for fuel consumption, Open road I get 9L/100km round town i get 12l/100km.

I have had no issues on with the car so far apart from normal wear and tear. need to replace some mounts due to being worn in the diff cradle.

It is a much larger car inside compared with any version Legacy before, thats why we went with it as we could fit the car seats with the kids without the front seats being all the way forward and uncomfortable.

Take some for a test drive there is the 2010-2012 which is 2.5 turbo and then after that they used 2.0 DIT

  4. Yeah the shape is a bit more hard edged than normal legacy shapes have been.

As for parts I have used and run on mine:

BOV: Have had GFB respons on mine. Was nice to be able to make noise or none at all. I added it though to stop the factory uint from leaking they are know to be very bad a leaking especially it boost starts to go above 13/14 psi is leaks away and the turbo has to work its ass off to try and keep levels where they should be. (so can be a good mod if your one is leaking, However downside to this is.... If you have a exhaust that now flows better along with this and possibly an intake you will get boost spikes and boost cut without a tune.)

Exhaust: I went for HKS Premium ES system after talking to @sobanoodle, He had tried others and found them to sound bad or drone like crazy. This one gives you a nice sound with out stupid drone inside. This is my BR9 with before and after of the exhaust

Intake: Have used HKS intake system from turbo to intercooler and filter to turbo. If the car is NZ new the turbo to intercooler wont fit from what i understand.

Brakes: @sobanoodle did alot of work on this suggest you have a look at his posts about these.

Big changes in handling come from Bracing and sway bar upgrades in this chassis, I have cusco rear and front bracing as well as Whiteline sway bar that has really changed how this car handles around corners now. Its a heavy car but sits much flatter and has more control in the steering inputs.

Mine came with STi lowering springs from factory, however there are lowering spring options you can get or of course go full coilover and be able to dial it to what ever you like.

If you do the exhaust and even an intake take and get it tuned, I had planned on SAS doing mine here but work has got rid of me so need to hold that off. If you up north hit up Possum Borne Motorsport they can sort you out with all the tune and parts.

Any more Q feel free to PM

  5. Hi,

Sweet to see another person go for the last Legacy Wagon they ever made.

Is it the 2.5Gt or the 2.0DIT version that you have ended up with?

Depending on which one i can give you an idea on mods and may be able to supply some of the parts if it is the 2.5gt version.

Not partsouq one, partsouq one was due Friday but delay in China for last 4 days.

I have one delayed an extra week in Hong Kong from Partsouq, still worth the wait after the price i was given from Subaru NZ. seems to be world is still falling apart outside our borders

  7. We had a non turbo SH and i owned a turbo SF5 that i did alot of work on to use on the track.

The SH5 is a boat, even more so at high speeds and old tired suspension. Get some decent tires lowering springs can help a bit but best would be coilicers or even is shocks tired and worn new shocks. Def do the rear sway bar. ITS SO TINY! front not too bad. The non turbo SH im not sure about the turbo ones have pretty weak rear difs too

  8. Changed out the recirc valve for a GFB one after noticing the boost fluctuating when set at high and full throttle. Apparently an evo one fits perfectly as well and they are made to hold more boost so can do that for cheaper if you can find one second hand.

Looks like it was definitely the source of the problem as it now holds boost solid all the way through the rev range.

Prob now is I hit boost cut in 3rd gear. Kind of expected with the intake and exhaust done. Guessing that was masked as the old one was leaking the boost.

So time to take it off to SAS and get the tune done and CAT removed.
