  1. When you dis-engauge the clutch you are taking the engine load off the GB, if you are still getting rough changes then you need oil change or you have problems in box.

You blip your throttle to match engine rpm with the drivetrain so when you drop clutch after gear downshift you dont get "load shock" of the drivetrain/engine trying to all synchronize to the same speed (weakest point breaks first - Compression skids, popped input shafts etc etc)

Motorbikes use a slipper clutch to help take this load shock away...

Many years ago I use to have ignition module which could create a "misfire" so you could flat shift on upshifts.

    Woah!

Highest i\'ve seen (other than commercial trucks that have done over a million km\'s) was a landcruiser that was coming up to the 700 mark

Drove my landcruiser from 60,000 km to 460,000 km in just on 25 years :) pretty much knew that truck inside out and upside down :) still have it not sure what I am going to do with it to be honest :)

now have a hilux which I am adding K\'s to at an exorbitant rate,

I think with that kinda use you\'ve had your moneys worth out of it so you may as well keep it

Seen a few taxi\'s which are on their second trip around clock. There also was a RS legacy in Rotorua which was in the 700\'s but was very tidy.

What I know is going to my 315mm 4 pot fronts over stock 277mm 2 pots I dont get fade where I used to get it a fair bit driving hard. If you stomp them they literally try to throw you from the car when the pads are hot.

    /quote]

Car will NOT stop quicker with bigger brakes..........Bigger brakes just reduce fade.

Well somethings different as when the pads are up to temp they bite really really well. Wouldnt know if it stops quicker or not but the initial bite is a hell of a lot different.

Because there is more pad area and less "acceptable" therefore noticeable initial pad "warming" fade. Re my first post when i posted this topic. Better compound, construction and wider tires will stop you quicker.

Bigger Rotors create more leverage, so there would be more stopping force given the same enegry input.

Think of differece of effort using a 300mm strong arm vs. a 1000mm strong to undo the same bolt.

Heres a dumb question. Ive recently fitted a facelift bonnet on the gc8. The vents have missing covers. Left side is aimed directly to the battery.

Would it short if I was driving in the rain and water got through and into the connection between the + and - of the battery

Not alot. 12-14Vdc isnt strong enough to track across and cause any problems.
