  1. Do a quick search, however the basic process

    remove the garnish

    drain water

clean properly, then clean the balck trim strip and the garnish and the body with nailpolish remover

use windscreen sealant and run a bead of this along both ends of the black trim strip

    put it back together

it will not leak again if done right

Cost him $229 per tire fitted including free puncture repairs and some sort of tire breakdown insurance although I am not sure what that covers etc.

Did he buy it from TTSL?

If so TCP is the "Road Hazard Warranty" - this covers the tyres for road hazards such as rocks. curbs, stupidity (to a degree) etc, it will even cover road tyres used "ofroad" within reason. Some stuff it does not cover, but the list is short...

in this case DO NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY, he is as much in the wrong as you are.

do you have insurance ( full would be better but any is better than none)

tell your insurance company what happened and let them sort it out.

this is one of those cases that police should of been involved if for no other reason than a 3rd persons perspective.

    Exactly

Oh and running an orange light is technically against traffic regualtions/acts, as it states to the effect that you are to stop and give way to traffic already in the intersection waiting to turn tight. This applies even if the person stopping at a orange light has some muppet run up their a rse or could run up their a rse due to "safe follwoing distances".

Therefor: if you are waiting in the middle intersection waiting to turn right (as driver instructors teach you to do), they should giveway to you. However this does not give you the right (as the car turning right accross traffic on a yellow) to turn accross oncoming traffic. - I find the finger and a very loud blast on the horn as they speed throught he intersection does get the message accross.

Ofcourse if they speed up or are speeding throught the intersection to make the light then the ball game changes significantly depending on the speed they entered the intersection... Here a case cxan be made that due to their negligence and speeding you expect them to travel at the sign posted speed mot at the excessive speed they were traveling at...

Inreality both parties would get a fine and depending on evidence etc both could be done for a few things under the act I would imagine

And I dont really want to spend over 160 a tyre if I was to give a figure

    /quote]

Tyres are one thing you don\'t want to cheap about. They are the only thing attached to the road, and play a huge role in your and passenger safety. Cheap tyres will not grip the road as well on corners, and also slide under emergency braking.

Agreed Less than $160 per tyre is rather poos

  5. Bridestone MY03 - entry level performance tyre

    RE002 - premium performance tyre

Firestone TZ700 - premium touring tyre

    Direzza DZ101

    Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec

    SP Sport FastResponse (Asymmetric)

    SP Sport Maxx

    Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3

    Eagle NCT 5

    Efficient Grip

Some things like Supercat, Neuton\'s etc should fill your boots as well if budget is a concern, avoid cheap and nasty at all costs.

What town do you live in? If CHCH flick me a pm for pricing availability options

  6. Team

The beast has an issue with soft spongy brakes.

THe fluid has always been kept full. DOT 4 used. Had a minor leak as some muppet left the front left bleed nipple slightly undone, however I digress.

SHould I try a bleed and see how it goes or is there other causes/remedies?

  7. Usually related to the tyre, tyre wear or balancing of the tyre.

Sometimes when it is realted to the tyre this is due to type of tyre (el cheapo vs el exspensive), how tyre is worn and what impacts is has been subjected to (i.e. potholes and the like). the tyre shops balancer last calibration date...

Mention has been made of toe causing this shaking/shuddering - this is very unlikly however can be a cause if the toe is out on an extreme angle (i.e. degrees rather than minutes if measured in degrees not inches). Usually this is due to damaged/broken components. As I said VERY VERY unlikely.

Only seen it once and on a Landy Disco used mainly off road...
