  1. I referred to this thread first: http://www.clubsub.org.nz/forum/index.php/topic,24132.msg336280.html#msg336280 I am not sure if this band expander has he similar female end on my McIntosh system: http://www.sella.co.nz/motoring/car-stereos/wiring-kits/d3tkrp/ The male end looks the same but the female end is pictured at an angle so I can't confirm if it's rectangular or not. It says there, "2005 on," but the plugs look very similar. Do you guys think it will fit?
  2. Which band expander have you placed on yours? I find that the Nissan 2007+ band expander looks so much like the male-female connectors described above. What do you guys think?
  3. Do you have a suggested place on where I can send it to be fixed?
  4. The maintenance history/notes of these Japanese imports must also be checked and researched. They may look mint from the outside but in some cases, a lot are hidden. We study and research the history of the cars that we import from Japan. It's a must do on any second hand car. Sad to say brother, the Subaru that you have bought might have had 90,000 "racing" kms. When you got it, it might have been a ticking timebomb already. We really shouldn't comment on the reliability of cars if we bought them second hand.
  5. Thread revival... I think I would also go the datadot route. The police said it was really reliable for looking at a stolen car. The system works well even with older Subarus.
  6. That is true. Any car would need a specific maintenance schedule that should be followed. It applies even with the recent cars made by the "Big T." Many people buy cars without even thinking about fuel consumption and/or maintenance the do a lot of whining about how those cars are made. In my opinion, maintenance is the key to the survival of ANY car. Cars nowadays have more parts, so they are more complicated and by principle, need much stricter maintenance schedules. Potential buyers should consider the cost of adhering to these schedules before buying cars.
  7. That's a nice find! I might have to do some research on this and install it myself.
  8. Once the "E" light is lit ON constantly, the reserve has to have 10 liters of petrol still. I think it is a regulation for manufacturers in the region to leave such an allowance. So the remaining kms depend on your car's fuel consumption. Keep in mind that the fuel pump has to pump harder near empty and the fuel consumption should go up.
  9. By the way both are going to be automatic/tiptronic. My mom has been tired driving a manual BG5.
  10. We are currently looking at 2 different Legacy B4s one is EJ20T and the other is an EJ25. In terms of reliability and maintenance, and based on your experiences, which do you guys prefer?
  11. I am not a fan of skidding/burnouts but I did drift years ago while I was outside of NZ. I do grip when I do fast corners with a RWD. I did that to annoy FWD cars on corners. When we owned a Subaru, the definition of "cornering speed' changed dramatically.
