  1. Hi all i did a bit of a search and couldnt find a solid answer, maybe i was searching using the wrong wording, But i was wondering if GF8 strut assembly will fit in a GC8 without changing top hats etc? Cheers
  2. Would it be posible to get some made Lol ;D
  3. Hi all, im wondering if im able to put Ver 5-6 Rails onto my Ver 3 STi intake manifold (even with slight mods if needed?) so i can run some uncapped Injectors. Cheers Josh
  4. Hey club subers, gotta noobish question. Upon upgrading my WRX Ver.3 rear end to r180 i came across an issue with my brakes.. They don't fit. The r180 hubs I have fit single pot calipers so I'm guessing it's out of a v3-4 sti ra?? Now the question.. Does anyone know if RA's use a different rotor to an Non RA sti? I need to buy the right ones!
  5. What's the possibility that ver7 wrx 4 pots bolt up to a GC8, straight bolt on I mean. Cheers
  6. Just one lil thing from my experience with rwd'n mine, I had to use an old shaft from a gearbox to align all the gears in the center diff while it was being welded, the first center diff i got done without this and it wouldn't fit back into the gearbox.
  7. I'm just curious at a turbo I brought but have only seen a crappy low res pic of so could not read the turbo type, but I could see that it had 5 fins, it was deffinatly a IHI VF turbo, the dude said it was off a 1996 STI, im thinking he has a ver 3 jdm wrx with a VF22 and that's what Im buying.. Just a theory
  8. Hi all, Ive been searching around trying to find which of the VF turbos in the gc8 wrxs and sti's have 5 fins, I know the VF22 does. Does anyone know?
  9. I went from grip to drift... aint going back... Suby handles better RWD anyway aha.. Maybe i just like drifting though. I also gotta R32 with a Rb25neo +T with 250kw also that loves ripping it.. drive the skyline more though as my WRX isnt road legal
  10. You don't happen to know how that is wired up, I have brought that exact same unit, except the text on mine is yellow... ;D
  11. This is Quoted from the MRT site: Answers on Mufflers There are several choices for the exhaust on a Subaru Replacement of the complete system from the actual engine back. Replacement of the system from the turbo back, most common. Replacement of the rear muffler only. REPLACEMENT OF THE WHOLE SYSTEM!!!! Most people think that all 3 inch systems are the same. They're not! Sure the pipe diameter may be similar but that's where it stops. Weather its mandrel bent, press bent or a combination of the two this is just the start of an impact on the final performance you will get. Mandrel bent is, as the pipe bends around a corner its diameter stays constant, press bent or any other reduces in diameter from the way the machine bends the tube. Obviously a constant diameter bend is better for flow and constant velocity through the whole system. The BIG benefit is in the noise, (more aurally enjoyable but not loud!), HP and throttle response. Therefore choice of brand should consider: Ease of removal for future clutch and car repairs. Ease of fit to the standard factory mounts. If its made on the car or on a jig for future replacement parts, and consistent proven design. Design, E.G. does it include flexible joints to stop cracks and is it clamp joints or flange joints?. is it proven? Dyno reports, brand etc..
  12. yea, it will be louder. Mine sounded pu5sy with a stock downpipe, Then with the 3 inch down pipe, it sounded like a purring tiger..
  13. Sorry, was just my opinion ???. Ive had a 3 inch made at a reputable shop on my old WRX, Let me just say that the quality from HKS is far above. and for the price ($360 got me a Full Cat back system off trademe) there isnt much point in getting a full system made at a shop.. MY OPINION! (flame me if u feel the need)
  14. I think the Sound has to do with the Muffler tip at the end, Reason being, My mate has a V3 STi Ra, and he has a HKS Hyper Dragger Exhaust (3inch Mandrel Bent cat-back system) and i have the HKS Silent Hi-power (Also 3 inch cat back exhaust) and mine is way more quiet than his... when i installed mine with the Stock downpipe (cat Converter etc) it didnt sound loud at all, i was quite dissappointed, i wanted the Wank factor (Loud Exhaust). But i installed a 3 inch down pipe and that made it sound just perfect. HKS exhausts I highly recomend, Dont get some crappy made exhaust with different size sections and what not, buy a bolt on system Purposly designed for it.
  15. HKS Silent Hi-Power, FTW, 3inch mandrel bent, Full Stainless Cat back system is purpose designed to give power improvement , Looks nice (angled) and is Just legal for sound.... Note pic is of a HKS Hi Power, But they Virtually look the same except the Silent Hi Power has its name engraved on the tip. Is more quiet than it looks.
  16. Sorry your right, Im living in a fantasy world (420/cut). :
  17. Set it up like a Drift car (lol i hear flaming) , so like i have mine on 32psi front, 38psi on the rear. (Inducing oversteer, reducing understeer), Wanting the front to be a bit more flatter to grab more surface, But to low psi and sidewall will flex..(unstable). Having lower psi in the rear than the front will more than likely induce understeer as the front will break traction before the rear.
  18. How you all doing, fellow subaru lovers...... Anyway.. The other day, I purchased these Cheap lil addons for my RWD WRX build... a AFC -12 (Air Flow Calibrator) and a D1 Spec VSD 3 Ignition System. They were cheap off trademe, so i decided to give them a try. Now I have no idea if these will work on my 96 Ver 3 WRX.. First off, The AFC-12 The guy I brought it off said he took it off his WRX Airflow Meter but forgot how it was wired up (typical), There is a Black, Red, Yellow and Blue wire, Guessing they are Ground, Constant power and ACC power... and the blue im not sure of, But im also not certain about the other wires also.. Ive Searched the world wide web on this *AFC-12* , but came back with nill results so no wiring diagrams...... Help would be Greatly appreciated.. Next is the D1-Spec VSD3 Ignition Booster System, Which claims to raise the iginition spark voltage from 12V - 16V. Now... wiring is also the problem with this one also... It came with installation instructions, but are to vague for me.... So im lost... The thing that gets me is how i wire it to Each coil? Now....lol a noob question, but is that coil pack on my Version 3 engine on top of the Intake Plenium? anyway here is a picture of the Wiring Diagram that came with the VSD3 Now this wiring Diagram shows a setup for a 4 Cylinder... Can someone just tell me where on my Ver3 ignition system i have to wire up the yellow wire and the white wire... Thanks
  19. In a GC8, putting the battery into the boot was lets say.... easier than breathing. All i did was disconnect the power lead that runs from the battery to the starter motor. Replaced it with a 0 gauge cable that I will be running to the boot, I ran mine down the passengers side. I took the front and rear seats and carpet out to do this as i wanted a tidy install (was also installing sounds at the same time). On the passengers side I removed the carpet back revealing the ECU and kick panel, Above that kick panel to the right is a bung hole where the drip from the AC goes out of the car onto the ground, now since im not using AC anymore that drip pipe doesnt work, meaning i have a perfectly good sized bung hole that will perfectly fit my 0 gauge cable. I connected the 0 Gauge Cable to the Started motor, Feed it through the bung hole (perfect fit and also seals nicely with the rubber bung that is there), And ran it down the passengers side sill, Now i like stuff to be tidy, so when i ran it along the side, I laid it under the Plastic covers protecting the Fuel lines.... if only i took pics... damnit....... this might help...
  20. funkytown: Its just a version 2 block, it has a Ver. 3 STi Intake Manifold and matching loom for that year (3-4). It has stock boost control which I setup the same to my mates Ver 3 STi RA that has stock boost control. The ECU i personally took out of a Ver 3 STi. The car boost's fine for 7psi but it just won't go up... Ive also replaced all lines to make sure there wasn't any restrictor pil. nzkaosnz: Posibly, I have a spare boost control from a Ver. 3 STi that i guess i should try. Ive tried a "Boost Tap" but that didnt seem to raise it either... :-X
  21. Howsit~! alright, What i have here is a Cheap Project WRX i picked up not long ago. Now before i say whats next, no1 flame me ok, dont get me wrong, WRX's are wicked cars, AWD is awesome.... But to boring... So im making it RWD, of course i could have brought a Skyline or s13,14 , But i like WRX's, The sound and the look. Now ive gotta problem with the engine, The WRX was $1300, so i expected half of it to not work or be broken. its a 1996 Ver 3 JDM WRX in black (sedan) which "said" 86,000kms on the clock, Ive confirmed it on carjam, but upon further inspection of engine i found that it had been replaced with a Ver 1-2 engine. What could be causing my car not to run over 7psi? Ive got a V3 STi ECU, Injectors, and AFM installed.... many times have i checked the Boost lines to only find them all still connected (no leaks). Im running with a TD05h turbo, 3 inch down pipe and HKS Silent Hi-power Cat back Exhaust system.... Could it be that the engine i have now is poked, Though, it isnt blowing any smoke... Car runs mint on 7psi... Im confused and stuck...
  22. Yes, i hooked it up to the factory boost controller, when i got the car it wasn't all setup, But it was there, so i copied the way my friends V3 STi Type RA's factory boost controller was setup. I even checked the numbers on the solenoids and they were the same. Ive also changed the line that had the restricter pill in it to one without... Maybe i might have to use a MBC.. though id prefer not to at this stage.
  23. Hi all, i have just brought a 1996 V3 WRX as a project car. It wasnt going when i brought it but have since replaced or got the parts needed to get it going again. I put a V3 STi manifold, V5-6 STi intercooler/bov, 440cc Injectors, Orange Airflow meter, V3 STi ECU, TD05H 16g and HKS Silent High power Catback exhaust. Now my problem is, is that it is only boosting 0.5 (7psi) bar of boost, but arnt STi's ment to run 14psi?. Im sure i have the boost lines all connected it up right. If someone could shed some light.. Would be much appreciated.
