from what i've been hearing...
the injectors on a standard WRX are blues... and they should be fine...
if you're maxing them out, you're prolly also stressing your block/internals too much..
/quote]
blues are 440cc
they will be sweet to run vf23/24/28 at 17psi with safe headroom bro
been there done that hence know
hmm maybe get a ebc while u gather parts
sweet as champ just what i wanted to hear!
Basically im going to get the intake ive seen on T/M i already have the mani and up pipe. im also (this weekend)ganna get the supplies to make my cold air box get the turbo with EBT and thinking between FM or STI TM duno which may be better... if any?
-
nice collection of parts there bro..
i wud say get a vf23/24/28 as they are good as well and perhaps easier to find than a vf30..altho sometimes u find lots and other times nothing..
we wudnt run past 17psi on ur stock wrx blosk as that seems to be the safe limit..
u cud push more vut im not sure how long the block will like it
hence why the 23/28/24 be a better option as they are better at the lower boost
in my old rex we were doing 18/19 with ebc and it didnt like it too much lol
went hard as nails tho
with the 13/28/24 what flange do they run? and are they a direct bolt on replacment? as im going to get a turbo soon and sorta follow suit with what you listed pappu.also will the standard wrx injectors max out runing those turbos on 17ish psi?

marc has a set of tomei (i think) unequal length headers.. give him a PM.
Bugger i red this a little to late i ended up going and having a look at the mani and buying it! from what i could see the quality was really good all the welds looked very profesional and the whole unit is s/s so no crappy rust around the flange welds.
im thinking also about getting the V7 intake pipe which is on trade me its the blue one thats around $170 are they any good they look like they dont have the massive kink like the factory pipe.
-
seems to have made it bit more smoother and little little bit more on the top but seriously, if u still running ur td04, i wud not recomend this mod simply as can see other places where mony is better spent
if i was u i wud look at getting a sti intercooler or at least removing the damm kink in the intercooler inlet pipe as that is such a buzz kill for the wrx
and also get a vf23/22/30/28 type turbo
(not sure if u have a turbo back system but that too be better)
water spray setup on the IC
retune
lol.. any of thoes things be a better mod than the extractors in terms for bang for buck
i have done the whole extractor thing and it really does not give much if the other stuff is not done hence why i say the other stuff is money better spent
but if u wana just do it for the sound then do go ahead just dont expect much gain at all from it in the current setup bro
just trying to help in terms of bang for buck thats all...
any of the above maybe possible in the $$ spent for the extractors and will be more effective on power straight away
good points there bro.
how im thinking of working it atm is im going to get XXX amount of parts ie turbo possibly Front mount intake etc sort of the main parts that will give me a base to start
then im ganna take a week off work and basically put them all on i just saw these pop up and thought well when im doing my other mods i owuldnt mind having the exhaust side sorted too.
What do you think.
-
It will fit yes sir it will
But If it's thin and crap quality then it will crack I know cos I had a crap set and it bloody cracked
BEst to get some sorta warranty on it form the supplier
4yr should do it
I havnt yet persoanlly looked at the quality but i sent him an email and he claims it comes with a 12 month warrenty as well as mentioned it is "high Quality" Stainless steel so i might go have a look at it on the weekend. and see how we go.
from experience pappu did you noticed the differnce in power/pick up with a s/s mani?
-
oh really? in what way?
if any of you guys have had any experience with these types of manifolds please tell it would be greatly
appreciated.
-
excellent in that case im going to ask him to list another
as when i asked him in his shop he said no it wouldn't only the older models but all the other guys selling there manifolds reckon there manifolds fit from 92-V7 so i thought this one shouldn't be any different,
cheers mate
-
hey guys can someone please let me know if this will fit a 2002 V7 wrx
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=368931422
other trademe sellers have mentioned to me that there manifolds will fit from 92 to Version 7
just wanting to know for sure

lets do another look see at the ecu and make sure its got no codes and the IAM is happy ya?
u must be pleased with the full boost and proper timing now ay bro ;D
i tell ya driving it when it was sluggish and missing and detonating etc such a breeze now but id be interested to see what the IAM is reading now fingures crossed itl be spot on...will sort it out with you at some stage bro.
cheers Pappu
-
**UPDATE**
hey Guys,
Yeah went to pappu's found no codes on the ecu coming up.
But pappu found that the IAM was sitting on 8 and went as low as 2 when giving it greif up hill, was knocking quite bad with detonation etc.
So i went home and flushed the gas tank did the fuel filter and sparkies filled with 98 and within 10 mins back to perfect.
so cant be 100% sure but it was one of three things old fuel filter, worn sparkies or bad batch of fuel.
-
hey guys got a 2002 v7 wrx non STI
Just wanting to know best place to go for fuel filter and spark plugs and if possible part numbers?
Thanks Guys.

ok so been having full on problems with my v7 wrx atm.
had a boost leak a few weeks back (i think) and replaced all hoses cleaned std solenoid checked for leaks on intercooler reset ecu by disconnecting battery etc
now im back to boosting 7PSI in all gears
went for a drive before and at one stage the car wanted to die seriously WTF.....
i duno what else to do
Any ideas on everything that would make the car run 7 psi...
thanks in advance guys
-
oh its only a rex.yeh the factory soleniods tend to have boost spike problems meaning itl pull past 14psi but once it peaks the boost wil drop back to whatever.since yours in a v7 that means you got a re tune able ecu or reflash.mayb get that done to set your boost to how you want it,
STI8U you gota tell me more about this?
so basically v7 solenoids = rubbish cool no probs lol
But whats with the ecu are the V7's the only model with them? what are they exsactly or what does this mean i can do?
sorry iv always been with turbo silvias never owned a sub before
-
yeah i never really looked at mine till i had a boost problem i notice in 3rd 4th im getting 14.5 or there abouts. but second just felt slower then normal.
so thought id check to see if mine is right or soemthings just weird
-
Hey guys few weeks ago was having boost problems now i seem to have fixed it (i think)
Just wanting to know in 1st, 2nd gear on a stock 2002 v7 wrx what should max boost be?
Ive read through alota google pages and it seems that 7-9 psi (dependent on weather)
is what it should be can anyone confirm.
as my car is runing 7.25 in those gears.
Or anyone got the same car with the same reading as me?
cheers for your help guys.
-
hmm yeah water is a big issue as it seems to find its way everywhere..
Maybe i will make a perspex cold air box and put it in the factory place atleast i know itl be dry,
In ways of dimensions i see alota people almost do a whole side pannel style cold air box. if i go for making a cold air box im wanting to make compact and sealed (except for my air intake hole) if its only X amount bigger then the poddy itself.Would that be a problem?
im new to making a custom box...
cheers
-
yeah i was going to make a cold air box (still might),
But then thought about the guard idea which seems easy with out making a box and having to move things etc.also the gaurd basically is the "cold air box" i just need to make some duct tunnels.
so im a little stumped in what way i should go..
would it say be colder in the guard as opposed to being in the engne bay even with a cold air box...
Im hoping to do it this weekend so thought id get everyones thoughts on what way to go.
Cheers Dan
-
Hey guys,
Seen this around quite a bit now people extending the intake pipe from the turbo and sending it into the guard?
Just mainly wanting to know does it have any negative performance with the pipe being slightly longer.
Iv noticed that having a pod filter in the standard spot gets wet when it rains/washign the car.
cheers in advance guys.

Need to plug in a diagnostic reader in the ecu port to get codes in v7
I can do that for u if u want
Did u check to see if u have a pill in the hose off the turbo nipple to the wastegate t piece
mate that would be excellent if you could....Atleast that will reveal anything that could be the culperate. What sorta day/time?
yeah i made sure the pill is on the turbo side b4 the T
just an anoying problem
-
ok time to update,
Replaced all turbo hoses used hose clips to secure to make sure nothing is going to leak went for a drive. and still hiting 10 psi in 4th gear before its starts dropping off.
So im thinking ill firstly check to see if theres any ecu faults (as it doesnt require me to buy/change anyhting.)
so in a v7 where is the ecu located?
And if for example it comes back with no wrong codes where the heck to next?
Also im located new lyn/blockhouse bay ways so maybe if this fails some1 might be able to have a look....
cheers for all your help so far guys/
-
sort out the new vac hoses (and check all others for that matter) then try it again
Dam near reckon that cud be yr ptoblem, you only need a pin hole leak in those vac hoses at the turbo for boost to be effected
NINJA: oh wait.. you free boosted it and it boosts fine ... still fix that sh1t first
should be able to buy all the vac hoses and T joiner etc from a performance shop (or the like) then make it up yourself
yeah when i originally checked over the hoses they all seemd squishy and soft but all the near the ends were like rock.
Im ganna go get all the hoses tomorrow
in the mean time what can i do in ways of getting another pill? seems mine is toast.
-
after checking all hoses & clamps etc this is how i would approach this boost problem, (may not suit some ppl)
if you are ultra ultra careful you can pull all vac hoses off & block them at the wastegate actuator at the turbo and free boost it, i would only do this as a one off test just to prove everything else is OK i.e. no boost leaks and the turbo + components are boosting/working well etc.
This method will let it boost extremely high if you let it and is very dangerous, for gods sake DO NOT hold it at boost for a long time and just do a couple of boosts to around 15 to 18 PSI just to make sure all is well in the turbo and boost department. Listen for boost leaks and noises etc.
If unsure how to do this, DONT DO IT
The next step after a free boost test.. i would wire in a LED light accross the factory boost noid then into the cabin then go for a drive and see if it is actually flashing, if it is that means the ECU is doing it job, if not take it further from there (report back here)
ahh i havnt had to do that test in a long time!!
ok so so turbo components are fine went straight past 10 no problem .
Havnt as of yet wired up the noid with a led because iv hit another brickwall.
In the process of removing the required turbo hoses i found that when taking them off they all pretty much broke and snapped and the pil was so brital that too snaped in half.
looks like the hot cold hot cold from the motor over the years has worked its magic.
Question where to from here?
i just rang winger and 70 bucks + 2wweks delivery id rather not.
cheers too Smurf ill look into that a little later
u rekon waste gate preassure so pill/noid? only thigns i can think of that regulate other then the ecu telling it what to do....
P.S i dont want to save fuel!!! hahaha
-
yeah i always run 98 octane, starts up exceptionally well no funny noises, drives smooth, has no trouble going through the rev range in all gears, no smoke. boost kicks in and gets to 10 and stays there through the rev range. but thats just it it doesnt go any higher...
yeah from memory it has always been 10 psi the only reason why iv only just asked now was because my mates v8 is hitting 14 so thought mine should be too.
motor is stone stock.
no engine warning lights nothing.
lol im compeltely stumped maybe a faulty solenoid?
how can i check if theres error codes on the ecu?
thanks for you help so far guys.
