  1. Does anyone know if the 4 spoke Momo steering wheel (the one with the airbag) from a '99 WRX will fit a '92 Legacy? The Legacy doesn't have an airbag and I don't intend to even try getting the airbag in the new wheel it work....if it fits.

57 bux an hour is cheap! think about the overheads of running a workshop and you will quickly run outa coin. i know for a fact that ingham sears mer cedesat the mount charge 170 plus gst per hr

Yikes! I won't be complaining from now on. Still, to have the equipment and the know-how to do it yourself would be nice....maybe one day I'll get there.

Clutch replacement isn't cheap when done through a garage. The cheapest quote I've had is $900, the clutch kit costs $580 which means if it takes them 5 hours to replace the clutch you are paying the mechanic close to $100 per hour for labour!

Wrong end of the calculator !!

    900 -580 =320

    320 / 5 = 64 per hour So about $57 per hour plus gst = VERY CHEAP

What about the $40 flywheel skim

    What about gearbox oil?

Think maybe your B*tching about being cut a good deal !!!

Also at that price it NOT a Subaru clutch either, so best of luck with anything aftermarket !

$57 per hour is still generous considering most "average Joes" earn about $21-$22 per hour. IF mechanics are earning $57 per hour then good on 'em. I just need to save some dough to get me some good axel stands, a jack and decent tools and I'll be able to then save myself $57 per hour, even if it does take longer to complete the job.

Water alone will corrode over time.

You should run coolant plus water.

Or if your really fussy (like me) then fill with demineralised water and Redline water wetter.

Thought so, it's just very hard to read japanese if you've never read japanese before (yes, my car is an import).

sounds like a plan if Andrew is up for it?? im sure well have a few takers lol

I'm waiting to hear back about a couple of quotes but if they are just as high as the last one then I'll take you guys up on that offer. I'm happy to give it a go but I just don't have the tools or equipment.

  8. I have a '92 Legacy and just fitted a BOV that vents to atmosphere. My issue is that now when I stop to give way to traffic or at a red light I notice the revs drop to the point the car almost stalls (a couple of times it has stalled) then pick up and the drop then pick up and then level out as per normal. Is this normal when fitting a vent to atmosphere BOV or is it the sign of a faulty airflow meter?
