I don\'t see how you guys can spend 50k on a car and not chuck a 200$ gps unit in it ... just makes no sense to me

Yep pretty stupid move. It did have a 5 star alarm in it but the remote had gone flat and I had been too lazy to get it sorted before taking it out of lock up storage that day. Its back locked up and safe now. Lesson learnt, I wont be so lazy in the future and invest more in security.

  2. Waiting for Police to finish with the car so I can pick it up. Havent seen the car yet but hoping its just cosmetic damage. Sounds like its just frontal damage to panels, bonnet and intercooler. Will see once I get it back. Noticed fb accounts are live again, probably after car had been passed on. Likely the person who has ended up with the car will be prosecuted so hopefuly it all comes back to the people that stole it.

no help now, and i feel for your loss mate totally.. its s*** house.

but my race car is insured for coupla hundie fire and theft - with state.

Wow thats cheap. The cheapest quote I got for 3rd party fire and theft was $1300. Full cover was only $1700. Had full cover for the last 2 years as I used the car a lot on the road. Only decided not to renew the policy when it expired in June, didnt think it was worth the cost when I planned to use the car only for racing. Knew it was still a risk but had the typical \'she\'ll be right\' attitude. Silly mistake.

It was not insured, since policies did not cover races.

    policy covers my race car?

is a basic 3rd party style/fire theft or damage to and from an event or in my back yard

all be it in a completely different league

Considered this and decided against it as it was still really expensive and car spent most time in lock up. Needless to say I regret that stupid decision.

  5. Yeh Greg was driving round this morning. They smashed through the barrier to get out. Camera footage being reviewed and passed on to police but im not too confident itl pick anything up. Cameras only on entrance/exit, would hav got car exiting at speed, only view through rear windscreen. Only chance is catching them coming in to the car park before they stole it

    intake as in what,pod filter?

    be specific ;)

I fit a Gimmick Motorsports silicone pipe that runs under the intake manifold, a 65mm stainless MAF pipe and pod filter. Would have used the factory box and drop in panel filter but needed a pod filter as the factory box didnt fit with FMIC piping. Trimmed the factory air diversion mould to feed directly onto the pod filter.

  7. To get the best result out of any mod you do you will need your ECU reflashed to suit. If you can afford to get a reflash before and after then do that, at least it will give you a good idea of what gains you actualy made. I couldnt afford to do that so did the ECU reflash last, after exhaust and intake etc. Although I couldnt verify any actual power gains by comparing dyno runs, on the road I noticed a big difference and was glad I did the intake. At approx $300 its a pretty cheap mod

oh BTW the only gains i ever saw in using a external over an internal was the fact i could hold 20psi till redline - where as most people would taper down to around 16 odd psi

only reason i could achieve it was because the factory spring in the internal is 7psi - i ran a 1 bar spring with a hks evc upping the boost to 20 - the softer spring starts to "blow open" as the exhaust manifold pressure gets that high - with external with a hard spring it over came that

realistically theyre quite useless unless your having that problem (thats what i found anyway) - as the new VIRM states even a plumbed wastegate must be certed -

unless your after the "screamer auu"

bold statement i know but screaming them is wasting power

Same result I got, held boost at top end, better top end power.

Those sta pipes dont fit that well beware

Agreed, dont get the up pipe from STA parts, needs modifying to fit. I think the 'easiest' option would be to mount it off the headers before the up pipe. Make sure whoever does it is a quality welder tho, if they do a shit job the welds will crack from the weight of the gate when driving over bumps etc and you'll have leaks.

    Welcome!

3" exhaust + walbro fuel pump + ECU re-flash. Thats what i would start with.

    Where abouts are you based?

+ 1. If you wanted to do intake before the ECU reflash I would recommend the following. Cheap shipping.

Mint site!! Has anyone ever brought from them?

I almost did once, but they were very slack in getting back to me with answers to questions. Initially he was fine, replying within 24 hours (considering the time zones), but then just stopped altogether, so never went through with it.

But yes, that site is pretty cheap and has A LOT of stuff.

I got onto the link through one of your earlier posts Paul. Found the same, initial contact was good then more and more delayed. However once I decided what I wanted and asked for payment options they sent me a link where I could pay by credit card and parts arrived a week later. I'll be ordering more parts from them.

In regards to the mods for your v8, a full TBE will make a huge difference, and I would recommend a full intake. I noticed a big difference with the intake on my v8. I did fuel pump also and FMIC, made 240kw with reflash. I suspect you could make similar power with the standard TMIC. You will notice a big difference over standard, only issue is how long that will keep you entertained for haha. The next step of engine mods from there depends on how thick your wallet is:-/
