As for the smoke on start up, mine does that on the odd occasion, i also have forged pistons im curious as to what that is. I'v heard of others to do the same as well, it doesn't really bother me.

+1 notice mine doing that too, was a little concerned. Is it a forged piston thing?

Yeah mate, it's a real sleeper. I haven't seen it for a few months, but he is quite anal over it. Regularily serviced and was still in good condition when I last saw it. I was very suprised when I first met him and had a looksy. Just looked like ur standard v3 sti, nothing too special then he mentioned about the 2.2. He rebuilt the engine as Im pretty sure he hit the good ol BEB issue.

I can pm u his number if u wanna talk to him more about it? And I can take pics etc and give it a drive if u are really keen?

With my car sold I have been in touch with him about the car but me being in Auckland still continues to be an issue, Might try and take you up on that offer WRXER to go have a look at it and take some photo's as it looks like my cousin who lives down there is going to be out of the country for the next couple of weeks.

the guy was passionate about how crap this car was. Although a guess he was pretty sure the car had done over 200,000 kms. "its shudders like an old truck, the gearbox feels like its going to fall out of the car every time i changed gear and it was fu*ken slow for a turbo car"!

Im a little racked off tho, it was decribed to me time and time again (by the owner) as 'like new' condition when clearly its not, this dude is a freakin goose - avoid

Gold!!! Great to hear that mate! Backs up everything we have all been saying. Good Work!

I sent him an email as an 'interest buyer'

here is his reply - and his cell number lol

    Hi mate,

    .........

The plate number is FCA216 if you go onto www.carjam.co.nz and type it in and pay $11 it will bring up all the information about the car. You will notice on there that the wof has just expired but I will be taking it to get a new wof probably on monday after my university exam.

I see that you live rather far away. Are you considering shipping the car or flying up to get it? If you want to fly up I could probably sort out meeting you at the airport or something. Anyway let me know what you think and we'll go from here. Let me know when you can book in a vtnz check.

I will try and track down the mechanics details from trademe that came to look at it.

Keep me posted and let me know what you think. I am open to cash offers and will sell this car to the first best cash offer hopefully before the auction closes.

    Talk soon, Jed

    021382005

He better not be in any of my classes/doing same degree as me as I have an exam then too.

Ill look out for the car at Uni, will give him a good talking to if I do see him hahaha

When the Safety Car decided to be stupid in todays V8 Race!!!

    That was some scary ****!!!!

Loved the comments Kelly made after

Rick Kelly was more vocal and said he tried to trigger the safety car into action.

“It was an absolutely dangerous situation and we were quite lucky that someone’s fuel tank didn’t end up under the bonnet with what happened,” Kelly said.

“I mean I parked alongside and gave it a few revs and they just sat there and nothing happened.”

“I wouldn’t like to be parked on the road when cars are coming up the straight doing 250.”

When asked what measures could be taken to prevent a similar occurance in future Kelly responded: “You’d probably give the safety car and drive through wouldn’t you?

I've got a good phrase for it, actually...rather than praise (sorry, couldn't resist). I don't follow the Metal Licker sell-out theory - make money out of the general public minions by showing them lots of smoke and mirrors, and generic attack. Not fooled by it, if you will.

    Haha yea fair enough.

To be honest I will be very surprised if he is able to compete with the Loeb and other top drivers in WRC. Its just a shame Subaru didnt manage to get a budget together to run a car for him.

Mind you this new Toyota/subaru coupe thing that everyone is talking about looks promiceing for a Subaru WRC comeback in years to come

You're bang on, that's exactly what happened at work. Lots of OOH AAH at hitting exploding things and dummies. Not necessarily at his ability to aim the car as precisely as he does.

Which makes him less of a driver and more of a salesman.

Yup thats right. Ken Block is doing what everyone in Motorsport wants/wishes they could do.

Thats bringing Motorsport to the general public.

People who never new anything are now dead keen to follow the sport

I guarantee crowd numbers at American rally events have increased since the release of these videos.

I have nothing but phrase for this man. Plus he is a bloody good business man (DC Shoes)

yeah man. we are all gutted. it was a nice sylvia. only had it for 6 weeks. 11grand jst disappeared. apparently the thieves had been having a look at the sylvia at nights for a couple of weeks. once the alarm went on and mate ran out saw a guy jumping in his car and speeding away. he did'nt get the number plate. now he wish he had.

all you guys be careful. I park my subie and block it with 2 other cars lol. a bit extreme but worth it

    Or just get insurance...

That brings me to my dilema and why I wanted your opinions. The '01-'02 STI wagon is 195kw and the '05 WRX is 169kw - not much difference - but then comes the 6 speed gearbox, harder tune, great looking, e.t.c. And I wonder is it worth giving up 3-4 years of newness fo the same coin? Perhaps it is?

Where did you get this figure from? The NZ New ones are definitely 206kw and seeing they are the same car's then the Jap import ones should be too. You may be confused with the Aus market models

I have the subaru nz brochure that someone on here posted up last time on my computer somewhere
