  1. Hey guys and girls Have pored over the forum and the web for info on the best way to remove my intake manifold for cleaning/painting. At first sight it is a mish with all the hoses and parts connected to it and also blocking access to bolts etc. But no doubt it is doable. I would like to know how you did it, as well as any general precautions I should take? Engine in question is an early EJ20G, one with no coil pack thingy on top. In order I would probably go with: Air intake Breather hoses on top Throttle body Throttle cable Coolant lines to reservoir That's all I can think of now. I've never done this on a flat four or on any other type of engine lol.
  2. Finally getting my arse around to painting my S401 grille. And the Hella Supertone Red bits (bit obnoxious as red imo). Just trying to find a paint finish that isn't Shadow Chrome (2 stage), but similar. In a spray can too. Image pulled from a Japanese website. Kinda shows the finish I'm after is like a dark/black like chrome finish. Also gonna do my fog light surrounds. The plastidip looks good while new, but S*** 6 months later. So thinking Black bumper paint - makes it look like black plastic, like on some base model 90s Japanese cars (satin finish black), or a Matte Black. Or maybe spray in ute bed liner. I'm all ears, as I haven't seen another S401 to make comparisons about this stuff. There's a paint shop just opposite my local Repco, so I can always shoot in there Saturday morning if there isn't anything at Repco/Supercheap.
  3. Hey guys! I'm thinking of doing a full respray for my GC8. It has the usual pin dents from 20 years of use. No major dents or damages. Any recommended painters out there? Looking for good quality ones. Could be a shop or an experienced individual. Would be good to know a rough price as well. I'm located in North Shore, Auckland. But might be interested in places outside of the shore. Please let me know. Cheers!
