  1. Very nice looking car mate, makes me think twice of even thinking of selling my car haha. Need to organise a meet for the RAs not sure how many are on here?
  2. Cheers for the offer, decided im going to save for a Link now, do it once do it right and all that [quote name='Zach said: man best of luck with your ride man, i dont see many early gc8\'s (v1-2) on the road that arnt trashed. It\'s so neat when you see a flushed one. dont forget to lower it just a little bitty bit. Cheers mate, the plan is to keep it as original as possible, but make it go as good as it can in the same time if that makes sense haha
  3. According to engine builder shimming the valve springs is to allow for more boost, they were going to put new ones in but were able to get the pressure they wanted by shimming the standard ones. I assume its to stop valve float with higher boost levels Had a quick look at boost controllers, for the price of them i think i might just save my pennies and wait for a second hand plug in g4 to come up, there was one on here a month or two ago i should of got but needed the money for the engine
  4. Not sure how i could fix it with out a new ecu and injectors? If it keeps boosting at 17psi sometimes more when its cold its going to cause it to lean off even more, so i assume the reason why boost drops off is because the ecu is protecting the motor? Or is that not how it works? If i was to get an ebc would this mean i could control the boost level more to stop it dropping off and set it to the standard 16psi so it wont over boost?
  5. Bit of an update for this thread. Heres where i am at now: Factory rebuild complete, block already had forged pistons in it and they measure up good so re used them. ARP Rod bolts and new head bolts. All new gaskets through out. Valve springs have been shimmed to allow for more boooost. (was told 25-26psi by builder) Head cleaned up and checked. Factory TD05 rebuilt by Fred Hicks who said it has the biggest intake or exhaust wheel you can get in one, cant remember which one though. Full exhaust. 250t headers heat wraped. Put it on the dyno after run in, made 193kw with boost issues, which i assume is because its flowing alot more now because of the exhaust? Ecu and injectors couldnt handle it. What should be the next step? Ultimately would love a Link g4 and it clearly needs new injectors (still running factory gray ones which were cleaned and flow tested before being re installed) Front mount intercooler? Ive bought some flexi hose to make up a cold air intake from the bumper.
  6. Whats peoples thoughts on these? Yes second hand but seem cheap enough. Has anyone ran some the same? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=693278990
  7. Already have 24mm i think rear ultra racing sway bar, so would you say 22mm for the front still?
  8. Yes i had BC golds in my old car and i thought they were far to firm for on the road
  9. Looking at upgrading my suspension as my rear shocks are starting to get a bit knocky. Would you choose second hand cusco/tein ect adjustables or save a bit more and buy new BC golds? Probably cant realy afford new cusco/teins ect. For Bushes whiteline of nolathane? I have read a couple of people seem to rate the whiteline stuff over the nolathane brand. Front sway bar, how thick would you go? Probably should put my current setup of front and rear cusco strut braces, cusco front K brace and ultra racing rear sway bar. Standard sti ra springs and shocks from what i can tell. Its currently running 55 profile tyres as well on the 16s which probably isnt helping anything much, not sure why some one would put them on?? I find it tends to jump around a bit around the twistys, body roll isnt bad, i dont want a slamed/no suspension ride, i want something that works, soaks up the bumps and handles well.
  10. Assuming this would be the same scenario for v7 struts to v2 gc8? I was reading some where that fitting latter model struts v7+ can stuff up the camber ect on a gc8 due to the v7+ having a wider track?
  11. http://www.ppgearbox.com.au/page.asp?productid=82 Straight cut synchro i think would be the go, best of both worlds? The car is going to be used for fun, sealed hill climbs, club days ect, but still driving to work the odd day
  12. Just on my dream list of things i want to do, but has anyone used them? I see they do a set for the 5speed so 1st-4th.
  13. This is the look i love as well. The fitment they have though is amazing. They run 18s dont they?
