too many cars for white knuckle stuff so the long cirucit would have helped space cars out a bit.

RaceChrono is a great app.
the free version is very easy to use.

will take more than just rolling the car to cool the brakes.
usually a full cool down lap and a circuit of the carpark.
as for late and hard braking to conserve the brakes... no instructor ever advised that !
