Hey Guys thanks heaps for all the replies.

To elaborate a bit more the job would be something in realestate so mostly driving around clients. It would be my daily in and around town so mostly shortish trips of between 5-20 mins. IF I bought the GTI I would absolutely be buying it from a dealer and getting a rock solid warranty on it too. I should have also mentioned that I am about 6,6 or 199cm tall so the hatches really suit me better as they have lots more headroom in them. TBH the car I have enjoyed driving the most ( by a considerable margin) is the forester. Its the much newer 2012 model so doesnt look like such a boyracer model as the original (no offence but they do sorta have that rep these days). Also I know that with a simple ecu reflash I can gain a good 20-30hp and probably pick up some fuel economy too. I really enjoy the GTI too and was talking with an owner today who told me he easily sees fuel economy in the 8ltr per 100kms range during normal around town driving. Quite impressive imho.

not tried a 2012 forester xt manual but the auto was ok.

only 4 speed but still better than a wanky cvt.

    8L/100km around town in a gti ?

    nana driver !

    xD

  2. i'd forget about rotating, like shuffling the deckchairs on the titanic. xD

although with asymmetrical tyres like the ps4 you can swap from side to side.

stick to the stock staggered setup or budget for 9in front wheels too ?

    245/40-19 is a funky size ?

toyo t1r's are positively stone age tyres, even the re003 is better.

pilot sport 4 is the flavour of the moment.

the ps4s is substantially more expensive.

some cheaper/less expensive tyres to explore - toyo t1 sport, hankook ventus s1 evo, yoko advan v105

  3. mobil 98 may be cheaper because it is an ethanol blend ?

    from the mobil nz website...

"At selected service stations in wider Wellington region, Extra Unleaded and Synergy 1000 may contain up to 3% ethanol and Supreme+ and Synergy 8000 will contain up to 10% ethanol. May not be suitable for all vehicle engines, check with the manufacturer before use."

    Hi all,

I have had some quotes and the tyre shop has recommended for the track & street to provide good grip & wear I should go for the RE003's or Nitto Invo?

They both are the same price for a set also, there is some good feedback in here for the re003 however has anyone had experience with the Nito tyres?

the only road nitto worth investigating is the nt05, unfortunately it's size range is not subaru friendly.

tremendous dry grip, average in the wet.

the invo is more style statement than great tyre - for the sema crowd.

    re003 or invo ?

none - michelin pilot sport 4 is competitively priced now.

  5. the old sq5 diesel is a rocket !

    jucs will be petrol.

thanks to dieselgate new ones are petrol.

or go nuts and pickup a merc ml63 amg, looked at some nz new ones for under $30k

the evoque is still very stylish.

not bad to drive but the porsche macan rewrote the small-medium suv handling rules.
