  1. Thanks for all the input guys I know pretty much exactly what I should be doing now Has anyone used the fusion bass tubes like this one? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Car-stereos/Subwoofers/10-or-smaller/auction-302465397.htm I like the idea of the whole "plug and play" thing and would mean I could run a smaller two channel amp under the seat which would almost work out cheaper, and for a wagon I rekon the bass would be easily heard from the back am I right? Anyone tried these at all?
  2. Good point but I guess ya cross that road when you come to it really and at the end of the day mines an EJ20R so to sum it up theres a hell of slim chance its going to still be running in another 100,000kms
  3. Gay? perhaps but not everyone wants to spend half the value of their car on a cambelt replacement and not every engine needs the full cambelt job done, when they cracked mine open the seals and bearings were still like new, personally I'd rather go to a registered Subaru workshop with full factory warranty backing and follow up than someone in his back garage hence the higher price (no offence mate I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the work you do)
  4. Armstrong Subaru have had a special going on for a wee while now where you can get basic cambelt change which includes the cambelt, tensioner and labour for $465inc gst, they also inspect everything else while in there, or you can go the whole hog and get the full monty which is Thermostat, Cambelt Thermostat Gasket Oil Pump O’Ring Water Pump Crank Seal Water Pump Gasket x4 Cam Seals Toothed Idler Bearing 5L Engine Coolant x2 Smooth Idler Bearings 1 Piece Auto Tensioner (1996 on) and labour all for $1350 using genuine parts. I had mine done there not long ago and have had no problems at all.
  5. minta! Its off to roscos i shal go, do you have to rangi up the plastic covers that sit on top of the strut or did you guys just leave them off?

from experience i wouldnt never use one of those trident brand thermostats, my mate cooked his bmw after fiting one, got one from bmw and good as afterwards, i fitted three one after the other to a mates civic and it would cook every time, got one from honda and not a prob since. My opinion - trident is junk!
  7. Riteo then I might just take it to the auto electricians up the rd because it doesnt sound normal then
  8. Have found a 1200watt Fusion one on TradeMe - whats fusion like? Have never really heard alot about it?
  9. Hmmm good point but I read that its better to run different amps as you can tune it better but wouldnt have a clue!
  10. I dont know where you're getting it at that price for but I payed $31.99 pr litre at Ripco, gutted lol
  11. Okey dokey this might sound dum but lately Ive noticed when changing down through the gears in my Legacy the headlights brighten and dim down quite noticeably when the revs change, I think its getting worse too, is this normal at all or is it pointing towards something electrical on its way out? Battery's only around 1 year old
  12. I've heard that they can melt the plastic lense cover, anyone found that?
  13. Ok so I've done a bit of looking around and this is what I've come up with, Pioneer DEH 5250sd Head unit Pioneer Gm3300T two channel 300w amp putting out 60w RMS per channel for the front speakers Pioneer Gm5300T two channel 760w amp bridged to make 380w RMS to power the sub At this stage its looking like a pre-boxed Pioneer 1200w 12" sub, vented inclosure ect If you guys want to let me know what you think that would be great! Also running all these things will that definately not harm the battery and draw any power from the engine? Cheers!!!!
  14. Hi peoples, Just wondering if anyone has fitted a rear strut brace to a BG wagon before? Does it actually make alot of difference? If so pics would be awesome
  15. I now agree with anyone putting in a vote for castrol Syntrax, I was running multitrax but made the swap to Syntrax today and there's definatley a huge difference!!! Shifting is much smoother both cold and hot and I reckon it seems queiter also - but hey cant be too sure on that lol
  16. First off thanks guys, I dont want to sound too dopey but yeah I dont have a huge knowledge on audio gear so any help is great, first off my headunit is something quite old I think - it still has mini disc slots lol! In reply to "Scoobydoo" the main thing that I dont like about it currently is the lack of volume and "punch" if you can get my drift? What I had wanted to do is newer headunit, some kind of sub and amp combo for the boot and perhaps amp the front components but keep the current speakers. The biggest drama I have is not knowing how to mate speaker/amp and sub/amp to get the best out of them. Also if I'm running two amps will that be too much for the battery to put up with? Has anyone tried that dynamat stuff?
  17. Wasnt too sure where to put this one but I was wanting to know if wheels off a forrester will fit onto a BG Legacy - I know size and stud pattern will be ok but I think the offset is miles differnet?
  18. Okay so I'm on the mission to upgrade my BG Legacy wagons sounds, I currently have Pioneer components (Kevlar ones apparently - they're yellow) in the front, Pioneer 6inch speakers in the rear doors - same type as the front ones and alpine tweeters in the rear boot pillars oh and an alpine double din headunit. The problem is I really have noooo idea where to start! I've never done the whole "big sounds" kinda thing and I live in Ashburton so there's nobody within a 100km radius that knows what they're talking about re ICE. What I want is something that sounds really nice and clear with plenty of volume and not overpowering bass, I would like to keep the Pioneer speakers at this stage, and get a headunit with a usb thingy in the front and would like to stay with pioneer, just thought I'd try my luck on here - there might be someone floating round that has kitted out there Legacy and had a good result?

could you tel me where you got the syntrax from as i had a hel of a mision trying to find someone to supply it, ended up with multitrax because it was too much of a hassle
  20. Yeah well $300 is the cheaper option, I was qouted $510 each shock brand new ex japan with at least a two week wait, I can see why so many guys put adjustables in them
  21. Well I had Armstrong Subaru do it in Christchurch but they send them up to Auckland to get done, I know that SuspensionTech do them but not 100% sure if thats who they use
  22. Hello again peoples, allrighty a while back I had my Billy's rebuilt, I've gotten no more than 20,000kms out of them and one has started to knock again, I dont really mean knock I mean bang bang bang, it's like some little munchkin is hiding in the rear gaurd smacking the crap out of the strut! Have had her up on the ramps twice to look for any buggered bushes ect but cant find anything at all, and it sounds very strut orientated. I can almost guarantee that the company that rebuilds them wont have a bar of fixing it free of charge but does anyone think that 20km's of use from essentially a brand new strut before being worn out again is a bit beyond the joke? It's a real pain as it's $300 each to repair plus labor and being without a car for over a week.
  23. Check out Whitelines website, they have alignment specs that works really well aparantly, I wanted to run -1 on my Leggy at the front but the guys who done the work on it said it'l bugger my tyres real quick, but not too sure really.
  24. I run HKS springs in my Legacy and have fitted a set to a BH Legacy also, can honestly say both mine and the BH are the best handling Legacy's I've been in, rather firm though. Might be worth a look
  25. Well that answers a few questions thanks fella's, have you tried contacting a Subby dealership and asking them what the go is with them - whether or not they can be translated into English?
