  1. According to what I have just read on the net, you lose roughly 40% of the power from the fly-wheel to wheels in an Automatic AWD. If this is correct, my car would be making roughly 220KW at the fly-wheel now. Anyone know what the factory output of a Jap new 2005 Legacy GT Auto is?
  2. 144.7KW to 158.3KW ATW. It doesn't sound like a huge increase in power but the overall driving experience has improved considerably. Anyone know how to calculate KW ATW to Flywheel?
  3. My car runs great now, for what it is, a standard 2L turbo with an Automatic transmission. I now have more power throughout the rev range, and it doesn't feel like the turbo runs out of puff anymore, it keeps pulling! I dont think the catless front pipe was worth changing as I didn't notice any change in performance, however it cant have hurt when coupled with the tune, but for the money, just go straight for the tune. I haven't been through a tank yet so cant comment on fuel efficiency, however it is expected to help with efficiency. I regret not having previously-owned higher performance cars tuned..
  4. Decided on Torque because they use a dyno, have a good reputation, and location. Plus they gave me a loan car for the day. PBMS was just too much of a mission for me. And a remap at NZPT wasn't really worth it when you can get a custom tune for not much more. I was lucky enough to pay the old price... They now charge $1200!
  5. Just picked up car from Torque Performance. Drove it home in Auckland Easter weekend traffic so didn't get to give it a 'proper' workout but I am stoked with it so far! Feels like it has a pair now! haha. Will take it out for a decent thrashing tonight and give another update.
  6. Having my car tuned at Torque Performance this week. Car is 05 Legacy GT, standard apart from high-flow filter and SubTech downpipe. Will update with results.
  7. Im changing the front pipe for performance, not sound. Would have spent the money on a pair of shiny stainless mufflers otherwise..
  8. What legacys/turbos have you both got? Could it be different turbos responding differently to the front pipe mod?
  9. My car is standard apart from an HKS foam panel filter, and (soon to be installed) Subtech front pipe. I am hoping I will be content with the increase in performance from the front pipe, and not require the additional performance from a tune but will have to wait and see.. Anyone used NZ Performance Tuning?
  10. Will have my SubTech front pipe installed prior to tune also.
  11. I have contacted a few tuners regarding prices and service and have narrowed it down to two options: Possum Bourne Motorsport $800 plus GST and they require the car for 2 days for a full dyno AND road tune, and NZ Performance Tuning $895 inlc GST for 2x 30 minute sessions where no dyno is used. NZ performance tuning told me they use proven and safe files and therefore dont need to use a dyno. NZPT would be far more convenient for me, but I am worried the end result wont compete with the dyno and road tune of PBMS. Thoughts anyone?
  12. The noise wont bother me, as long as it is accompanied by an equal increase in performance.
  13. I picked up my pipe today from SubTech.. and hope for a better result..
  14. Thanks for the help! Have sent out some inquiries. Hoping someone will do me a deal on a front pipe and reflash! haha.
  15. Also, where to get a good bolt-on front pipe. Cheers!
  16. Can anyone recommend where to get ECU flashed in Auckland?
  17. I was after a bit more grunt throughout the rev range, would bigger injectors be of any benefit to me? or GTB ECU (if they are different)? I put a full rage exhaust system and intake on my WRX RA and the only difference I noticed was noise. Hence why Im not gonna bother doing that again, especially as this car is an Automatic. Maybe just a down pipe and leave the rest of the exhaust standard?
  18. Apart from the usual exhaust and intake (which I dont want to do to an Automatic..) what are my (safe) options to get a little more out of my stock standard car. Any advice would be appreciated.
  19. Hi guys, Im wanting to lower my 05 Legacy GT wagon (BP5) by 30-35mm. Any recommendations? Has anyone used Cobra "low" springs, how much they lowered the car by, and how was the handling with them installed? Cheers, Mike
