1. Sorry can't offer any input on Phoenix Tyres, seems strange that a place that i assume is a tyre shop is doing it? May be fine though, although i don't know anyone that's managed to have one done for $100 before, i'm sure they're usually much more than that. Car looks in good condition from the pics, nice and tidy inside etc. Hope it all works out well!
2. Cheers, you've replicated my thoughts on most of those. I quite liked the RX8, especially how sporty it was sitting inside it, but found it lacking in power. Very smooth powerband, but never quite "went" like it felt like it should. Never ended up driving a 350z, hopefully i don't like them.. Made my decision, and ended up with something that's got plenty of things about it i wouldn't like, but for the price/condition/kms/features it was too hard to turn down. $5-8k cheaper than everything else i was looking at, still fun to drive and sounds good when you put your foot down. Took pictures last night to post up, but just arranged my new mags and they'll be on it tomorrow afternoon, so will wait till i have those photos now..
3. Should be sweet, gimme a text tomorrow [quote name='stira said: I think we should just say it is and call him a hairdresser for not telling us. Hahaha, frick that. They look damn outdated now, definitely hairdressers cars! Think i'm digging my own grave here cos it's nothing special but now it seems like a big deal.. oh well, getting some laughs from making you wait. Photos tomorrow without new mags, then will be some hopefully within a week or so with them on (once i decide what to get!)
4. Haha, well i haven't seen an 02 BMW with 50km on the clock for that money, would be stoked if i had though I was gonna wait and say what it was when i could post pics.. Sure thing, when suits you?
5. New car has been purchased, will throw up photos soon. Cant believe what i ended up with. Looked at a mint condition V8, found it plasticky and cheap inside, and just didn't have the performance of my old V10 so couldn't justify spending the cash. Then tried a 2004 STI Forester in Hamilton, and that was the top of my list for a while, so so close to buying it. Even though it had done 80,000km, it felt like new, everything was tight inside and had great handling and performance.. felt better than the V8 for sure. Only problem was it looked like a fridge on wheels! Then drove around Tauranga and found mostly nothing before coming across what i ended up with at pretty much the last dealer i went to. Did drive a 2006 V8 Holden which was fun, but felt wallowy and shithouse interior as well. Some clues.. 2.8L, rear wheel drive, price when new ?$85,000, bought for 15,000 with only 50,000km on the clock, 0-100 7sec. Currently pricing up some mags with all the money i saved. Ended up with this as what is probably going to be an interim car since i couldn't afford anything that i really wanted, but happy with this for now.
6. That's actually the WRC spoiler.. fricken ugly in my opinion! Rest of the kit i like, just not that spoiler: That white spec C looks pretty well kitted out, but out of my price range. As for the red one, has been on my watchlist, but being fussy i'd want something with less km on it. Also it's had some decent mods, but currently looking at a low km non-spec c unfiddled with (apart from exhaust) for same price
7. Cheers, that's on my watchlist already. Found one similar that's done about half the km's but is a bit more expensive..
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Cars/Subaru/auction-242692976.htm Listing has expired.. Actually going to see a car in Auck when i land on 24th, all things going well that could be the one
8. Yeah but i've got nothing on your seven years, been here (and the rest of Europe) for the past 3 months. Summer was very dissappointing, so looking forward to coming home later this month! Bring on summer at the Mount
9. Well, he's got an offer of $23k already which is what i would've offered, and that may go through in the next couple of days. Joys of being out of the country.. In the meantime, found a 2004 STI with only 12,000km, grade 5 on jap auctions with a start price of $16k. Might try for that.. Anybody got opinions on these Evo's? Can all be here and on the road for less than $25k: Evo VIII MR Black Evo VIII (high km's) Red Evo VIII (modded)
10. This guy is nuts. Somethings not right with that car either, it's been on there for ages, and he refuses to show pics of the engine bay?! I asked why, he responded asking for my email address which i gave him, and then got nothing. Was never going to pay the 24k, let alone now being 28!! Things don't increase in price by over 15% in one day... idiot.
11. As with the Impreza's, i much prefer the model before the latest. Shame, because just when it looked like they were making nicer and nicer cars, they pulled these mingers (too much time in the UK affecting me!) out of their hat
12. They've told me they can't import GC8's anymore which is a shame, i thought they just had to be less than 10years old. Anyway, back to the Legacy's..
13. Personally i think it's probably ok for the dealership to do it, but what i asked for was a service "equivalent" to what it would get at a subaru workshop. You'd want details of what they were going to do anyway. But obviously, best scenario would be if they got a subaru workshop to do the service for them... that being pretty expensive normally, i think it'd be hard to find a dealer who would accept that. The BP5 is the wagon version of the same year as the BL5. They do that with all the models, for example the models before were BE for sedan and BH for wagon. I'm tempted now to put an offer in on this (which i think i linked to earlier in the thread, but the auction was withdrawn): 2003 STI
14. Tell me if i'm wrong, but this seems to fit the bill... other than being a loud brash colour Changing the wheels to something more understated might help? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Cars/Subaru/Legacy/auction-235614289.htm
15. STI Forester i tried to bargain but they weren't negotiable AT ALL on price and wouldn't agree to get a 100,000km service done since they already carry out a standard service and it's "only" done 94,000km. End of discussion! Currently getting emails from carwebs with examples and prices. Still relatively keen on the 350z and also the BP5 legacy. Also was talking to a dealer about an Evo 8 but it's sold now. But also the older model legacy i linked to at the very bottom of my first post is now still available, and if i'm going to be sensible and save money (for now), then that's still a potential. At the moment i'm settling for less than i want no matter which way i go, so could be sensible to settle for something much cheaper, meaning that it won't take as long to get enough money to trade-up again. I really don't know, very indecisive, and being out of the country is making it hard. But back in 2 weeks, so then we'll see.. Still have 20+cars on my watchlist
16. And if you find someone who does, post it up 8)
17. Cheers for the offer, sounds mint but out of my price range. The longer I'm here in Europe, the cheaper my budget gets
18. Haha, funny sh*t. I want the little one!
19. Cheers, yeah MAF is to do with biosecurity in NZ. I've already been in touch with carwebs, will see what they come back with
20. So, not wanting to derail Grifter's thread, thought i'd start up again in here. Someone linked to www.tradecarview.com, and there are tonnes of cars on there, ranging from very expensive to what seems very cheap. So shipping costs would be about another $2k, but does anybody know what you pay when it arrives? Import duty, compliance etc.. what sort of dollars are those?
21. Too true : Yeah i noticed the colour too. There was a wagon version for sale on TradeMe not that long ago for around $30k
22. I'm partial to the '03 onwards as well (BP/BL). Used to like the older shapes, but for some reason have "grown" out of them. That tradecarview site is a lot of fun to look through. Think i know how i'm gonna be spending my day now Already found a WRC edition 2000 Type R (0295/1000) that looks in mint condition... whole new world of possibilities! If i see a nice BP/BL in your price range in my searches, i'll let you know (Edit: Sorry this isn't on topic, but there's a bunch of the ltd edition Type R's on there, price range from $10k to over $20K)
23. Is that an STI badge on the back... i know that means nothing, but would be a mean car if it really was a 2006 Legacy STI
24. Stoked! Used to be annoying having to switch back to regular TV to watch Top Gear
25. Yeah I did realise that about the Spec C, obviously that purchase would be swaying towards performance, and same with the 350z (which seems to have zero practicality!) [quote name='stira said: Thers plenty of those around. I wouldnt rush in to it. Why not go for something a bit rarer? Fair enough, but just because it's common doesn't mean it isn't a good buy. Would like something rare, but not going to pass up a good condition, well-priced common car if I find one
