  1. Aww I can't embed it....oh well Now there isn't much i wouldn't do to get one of these in my garage
  2. About 60l a week of ultimate, if it goes I'll have to go back to mobil. Tried the Gul stuff but the car gets about 40km a tank less than BP. And subies aren't supposed to use ethanol due to fuel line breakdown etc.
  3. Two things, don't wanna be the geeky engineer but IC's only really work as heatsinks. hard driving puts heat into the IC then when your cruising between sprints it cools down. They don't really cool the air as you drive because the flow rate is too high to do much. Soooo painting, powdercoating etc would be ok, just don't get the powder coat too thick or it'll act as insulation. And the second, if I was ever running a front mount IC I'd take the scoop off the bonnet for extra stealth
  4. Good to know, I'll start saving now then lol. Cos one day my box will shit itself-tis a subie after all!
  5. Just did a quick google 195kw-260bhp at 1500kg isn't too slow http://www.rsportscars.com/subaru/2005-jdm-subaru-forester-sti/
  6. So would a good move be to track down a 2nd hand g/box then rebuild properly with new synchros and shifting forks then swap out with mine, providing that if I got an impreza box that I keep my Forester diffs and final drives. I'm not worried about pressing/drifting bearing etc, just not keen on spending ages getting correct tolerances and backlash on the diffs as it takes forever with loads of assembly/disassembly.
  7. I thought the new STi's were around 320bhp-I remember seeing a fifth gear test. Found it
  8. apart from getting the box out is there much work involved in replacing synchros? Do you have to play with tolerances, backlash and all the other gear type mess, or is it a straight swap?
  9. Car: Foz sf5 Suspension: WRX v9 standard, looking for some wagon springs as the back's too low Mags: Factory JDM Forester wheels diamater:16 Wheels width:6.5 Offset:40something Tyres spec:225/55/16 did you have to roll the gaurds?: nope
  10. I mentioned it because the t/tb is an aussie/NZ edition and thought they may have just toned it down to meet emission standards. It's probably got all the same parts as an s/tb but needs a different ecu or remap? All this is pure speculation, I don't have a clue, just guess someone else might.
  11. get the gearbox and diffs out of a rolled foz? lol only kidding. I wonder if the ecu out of a JDM forester would make a difference?
  12. very tidy, I like the IC mount without cutting up the bumper. Good work. Did you think about mounting the intake inside the wing for cold air? Or why did you choose against it?
  13. it's like darwin approved lift-off oversteer. Not good at all. Helps the media and their politician toys in the 'war against boy racers'. What with the banned ChCh cruise in the same week
  14. I'm happy about that, now just gotta save up and keep a sharp eye on trademe. Are the pistons and gaskets etc ok with the increase in boost?
  15. well done, shit happens, now it's time to rebuild and get some meets happening.
  16. could be done...I'm a little busy now but come winter when I'm a little more housebound then sure. You get all your vandalism fixed?
  17. And just last week i replaced the missing plastic undertray with an aluminium one of my own creation. $50, a couple of hours, a jigsaw, some blocks of wood and a big hammer later this is what I've got Now this wasn't for any offroad shinanigans other than some simple gravel protection but after reading this article ( Browser Warning )and thinking about the reason for the oem guard it makes sense. The temp gauge on the dash has now dropped by two marks when cruising. Some of you may have noticed the snorkus lying on my garage floor, but I'm undecided about it's removal. It's only for CIA that it's out as I don't like the tiny pipe in the engine bay, If it was like a legacy with a scoop under the bonnet it would be ok. I'm fashioning a deflector and some baffles under the wing to create positive air pressure but limit any water spray ingress.
  18. Then my leaky oil pump was causing drippy issues on the cambelt and exhaust, and what with the holidays coming up I had to get it fixed.
  19. Thought I'd start my own gallery of the things that I get upto when I'm bored or have too much time on my hands. Firstly the Foz when I got it, but with new tyres thrown on Then dropped with WRX struts/springs New Bendix ultimate pads alround and a quick respray of the brakes an STI 22mm sway bar in the back-Hands down the best money spent improvement ever!
