  1. May i ask how much the ej207 short block was from subaru?
  2. What about some SYMS racing headers? They are bolt on are they not? up pipe included too
  3. IMO the 19's and the offset would be your problem. I run 18x8's and they only just clear the shock and wheel guards i had to roll the rears. You could try heating the plastic up and pushing it back a bit. Otherwise get some spacers to push wheel out but then you will start to rub on the lip of the guards lol. Honestly, GC8's don't like big wheels, especially with standard suspension and guards
  4. It sort of does. I see where you are coming from though. I tried fitting a 600x300 originally but no way it was going to fit without it hanging lower than the bumper, that's why i ended up with a smaller cooler. I had thought about cutting the center of the bumper support to lift cooler up higher and just make some tabs to attach them somewhere but that means making the support weaker than it already is. Was just easy getting a smaller cooler...
  5. Yeah i had to. I managed to trim around the part where the spot light covers bolt on to, also that metal plate had to get cut into shape as well. It's not the prettiest sight under those covers but hey, as long as the covers were secure, everything had enough clearance and the job looked tidy, i was happy. I wouldn't be able to install spotlights as the piping would be in the way. Not that i would want to anyways.
  6. It's a little of center cause i had already drilled the holes to secure cooler and it was getting late. Will probably center it when i can be bothered/have some free time. There was atleast a 10mm-20mm gap between the bumper support and intercooler where i could have gone up a bit more. The bumper support has a sort of lip on it on both sides. If you snip it and fold it out flat, would give you more clearance as well. (little hard to explain and i dont have a pic)
  7. 600x240 is a good fit. That's what i've got on mine. The bottom of the bumper is basically flush with the intercooler. My mate had his fmic installed by subaru specialists manukau. He bought a redline kit which came with the 600x300 intercooler and he had the same problem as you with it sitting too low. Judging by the way it looks.... I'm going to assume they heated the bumper up and just bent it down a little lol. Looks kind of Tacky imo, but hey that's another option.
  8. Man you guys have cool pics. I want a flash camera lol. My car needs more lows
  9. Just thought i would recommend Autostance to anyone looking to get some fender work done. It was $30 a guard but the did a good job and were very knowledgeable about how to stance a car out lol. Matt was great to deal with and even talked me through what he could do to my GC8 when i decide to go lower
  10. Sorted it. Turned out to be one of the plugs off the loom. was not plugged up properly lol
  11. Ok guys, The STI is doing my head in. No spark on cylinder 1 and 2. Now all i did was install a FMIC. Did not touch anything else except remove battery and undo some fuel lines to fit piping in. After i put everything back together, it ran sweet, drove for about 20mins and hit some boost in third, car jerked a bit and then died. Started it again and it runs like ****. At first i though one of the pipes had popped off but i took the bumper back off and re did all the clamps, none were loose. I can get it to start but it only runs on two cylinders. Checked spark with a screwdriver to the coilpack and to the leaks. Definitely not sparking on 1 and 2. Had coilpack tested by an auto sparky and he gave the okay on it. Tried a coil pack from my mates v5 sti and still no spark. Any ideas guys? It's been over 2weeks and i'm really keen to get the car up and running again so i can drive it lol Thanks in advance
  12. Definitely the guards. Can see the marks on the tires and also where it is starting to cut into the tire
  13. Any recommendation for a good guard roller in the Auckland area? i've got 18x8 wheels on my gc8 atm and the rears basically rub every time i go over a bump. Fronts rub on full lock turns. I'm only on low springs as well. Just bought some coilovers to stiffen things up and wanting to go a little lower. Anybody on the forum good at rolling guards? or know someone that can do a good job? Will pay in cash or booze. Which ever you prefer. Cheers
  14. Decided to rent for another year or so. Just sat down with the MRS and worked out a spending/saving plan. Going to try live on a budget. I'm bad with saving. Generally just buy what ever when ever i want lol. I'm Based in Auckland. More specifically, East Auckland. The market has sky rocketed in East Auckland. The apartment i'm renting atm was considered to be expensive last year. Just had a look on trademe and everything else has caught up. Ideally i would like to purchase around my area as it's a nice place to live but it's honestly ridiculous atm. Old 3 bedroom houses are being auctioned and going for the 800k mark.
  15. They saved money going through a mortgage broker? Really??!! From my understanding, If you go through a mortgage broker it's a lot more expensive due to broker fees and also in the end when you do get approved the interest rate is through the roof. I suppose I should go see one and see where i stand. Can any recommend a decent one that does not charge an arm and a leg? Kiwi Foz i assume your talking about property investment as opposed to buying your first house. That is another option I should consider.

  17. Management position in sales. Get a decent base plus commission. Been working full time since 17 and this is the best job so far.
  18. Wow, houses out of Auckland are much more affordable. Tauranga is a beautiful place and wouldn't mind living there but moving out of Auckland just isn't an option. I'm currently on between $70-90k a year which isn't much but i guess it's not too bad considering i'm 22. Hoping that will be enough to secure a loan otherwise will have to wait till my wife goes back to work. Not being able to buy any toys will definitely be a downer for me as well but hey, short term loss for long term gain right? lol
  19. Cheers everyone for the replies, they were very helpful. Yeah i definitely will be staying Auckland due to family and my new job. My new income is basically the only reason i might have a chance to purchase a house. I have a wife and newborn and in all honesty we are comfortable renting. Currently in an apartment and been here for just over a year. We were thinking about moving out of the apartment and into a 3 bedroom house just so it's easier with baby and for a bit more space. The reason i want to purchase is because i would rather pay off my own mortgage than the landlords. My wife is currently not working due to baby only being 6 weeks but she will go back to work probably after 3 months. I want to try get a loan approved based on just my income so that when she goes back to work, it will make life easier. Less than 500k for a house in ponsonby.. haha dreaming mate. Last week a very old wooden 3 bedroom house around the corner from my parents place in botany auctioned for $837k, the reserve was $650k that's just insane. sales like that make it seem impossible atm.
  20. So as title states, wanting to discuss property. More along the lines of first time buyers and at a young age. This forum seems to be regularly visited by mature people so maybe i will get some decent feedback on the topic. In this economy, it seems basically impossible unless you have wealthy parents to back you or your making 200k plus a year. 400k house will require a 80k deposit. How are you suppose to save 80k and if you manage to, you will be hard pressed to find a decent house for 400k. They seem to be more along the lines of 650+ for a 3 bedroom. Well in east Auckland anyways. Maybe i'm looking at it the wrong way.. Has anyone on this forum recently purchased their first home? If so, How old are you? Did your age affect anything at all while trying to obtain your loan Which bank did you go through? Roughly what sort of income are you on? Cheers guys
  21. He sounds good. Thanks everyone for your input. Tune wont be any time soon due to only getting the car a couple of days ago. Trying to modify this one slowly so i don't end up selling it after 6 months like most of my others.
  22. Hey all, Recently got back into the Subaru game after driving around in a FC RX7 for 6 months. Couldn't help myself and bought another GC8 Now I've been looking for ways to get this car tuned. In all honesty i don't want to be spending big bucks on a standalone. Came across Raijin performance which surprisingly have the tools to remap the factory GC8 ECU at a competitive price. I think it totals just over 1k. I don't have any major mods. Currently just Intake,TBE and a boost controller (the factory solenoid spiked quite bad) also have a 255l fuel pump on it's way to me. Most likely will add a FMIC and possible a bigger sized VF series turbo in the near future. Has anyone had their Car tuned by Raijin Performance? any thing good or bad to say about them? I've had a search on the forum but didn't really find much. Cheers
  23. yeah so glad it wasn\'t a major issue. now to get it running properly so i can actually go for a drive in it. It\'s been sitting longer than actually running in my ownership lol again, thanks to subirex for getting it going and everyone else that chimed in to help. Cheers guys
  24. runners on sti mani are larger than wrx to allow more air flow (well atleast larger than the one i pulled from the car). ran with 3 greys and 1 yellow lol. Theoretically car should run with either yellows or greys and it does. Subirex managed to get it started in 5 mins lollolol Hes the man. little things like leads going to wrong cylinders cause someone told me the wrong order of the cylinders lol. still not running properly just yet though. Managed to get it started which was the main thing. Have to fix a air leak. seems to be coming from the intake gasket on drivers side. Sooooo back to square one with removing mani again haha.
