theres been one floating around paraparaumu for the last few years, always been keen to have a look at it closer, but never had the chance.

This might be the one, we picked it up from chick in Otaki, think she said she was from Paraparaumu

  2. Thanks guys, and Joker I'm sorry to hear about your goat :P

Joker is correct it may be foolish of me to disclose too much in the present situation, but suffice to say the company concerned should know better - basically its just poor workmanship. Quote for repair sent and ball is in their court now, will play the waiting game and hope it all gets resolved peacefully.

  3. So I got some new wheels for my Legacy and straight away noticed a little bit of rub in the rear.

At the advice of a work mate I took the car into a shop in town to get the guards rolled (I won't shame just yet), but yeah they did a pretty S*** job and the rear guards are now in bad shape.

I got a quote to fix the damage and I'm hoping they'll cover the costs, my insurance doesn't want to know as they don't cover workmanship, but what about businesses that work on customers cars, are they insured for such things?

  4. OK so I take it BM/BR's are not too popular right now, heck I remember being on here years ago when not many had BL/BP's, anyway I hope this helps someone in the future when it comes time to mod your floppy factory suspension.

The Konis with the H&R springs are awesome, perfect for the street (I still have to take my wife and daughter out in this car).

    The rears go straight in:

The fronts you have to cut your OEM dampers out and slide in the inserts:

paint Koni yellow and pop a little Koni sticker on there (if you are fussy like me):

All finished, nice drop and drives like a true sports sedan should:

  5. For those of you who may be interested or have a BM/BR (not just a diesel either), here is my Legacy after installing the H&R springs.

From what I've heard on other forums the rears take a good while to settle, so it looks a bit high for now, will see after a couple of weeks. Sorry not an awesome pic, the weather in the Waikato has been its typical crap.

H&R's seem like quality products, these are made in Germany, shipped from Germany for just NZ$330!

Thats about half what I was quoted for a set of sloppy King Springs here in NZ.

They're stiff springs, not sure what I was thinking pairing them with the slushy old OEM dampers, so I've ordered as set of Konis (08-14 WRX fitment), the rears are a direct fit but the fronts are inserts - I'm looking for a set of donor struts now to install them in...

  6. In regards to Koni inserts (AKA cut-A-strut method), does this type of modification require an LVV certification?

On the LVV threshold table it refers to NOT requiring cert if...

'replacement shock absorbers, including air-adjustable units, fit unmodified OE

    mountings'

OE mountings referring to the attachment point on the hub casting?

talk to Armstrong Locksmiths. they have the tool to code those keys. i have used them before in Auckland.

Cheers, yep Armstrong's are in Hamilton too and offer a mobile service so won't have to trailer the car anywhere.
