1. Neil Miller is good, He can be a bit funny about some things but is good.
2. Yep thats the one, going to weigh her up and get the correct spring weight to,
3. im looking at some XYZ\'s this weekend, so far I have heard good things about them
4. Neil Miller or Noel McMillin? I used Neil for my kit car, he was a bit funny about a couple of things he didn\'t like about the design of the frame and wasn\'t the happiest about sending the paperwork away, made notes about a couple of things he thought differently about but at the end of the day it had full design approval so in my case it didn\'t matter what he thought. the point is with certs a lot of it is the point of view of the individual, he might not be happy about doing bags or he may not have done many, try finding someone that has experience with them and use that person, they will know more about what you can and can\'t do.
5. as it becomes more popular here that will probably drop the price
6. 6 cans to picton was $33 so it would be about that to chch for 10 as well
7. I Think the pics say enough The 3 point belts just don\'t do it for me Its never finished, I had the quite exhaust removed yesterday and its now 2.5" the whole way through with two of the longest resonators available to help quieten it down, this would be very loud on a NA but with the turbo its pretty good. this has now allowed the boost to creep a bit higher in the revs, I was almost at max on my injectors as it was so I have now fitted a set of 440cc subaru injectors. I\'m still tuning the new fueling but so far its great!!! A quick vid for your pleasure, Video from a track day Threw it on the dyne today to squeeze a bit more power out of it, more timing and wind the boost up. Remember this is a 190k naturally aspirated engine that i want to be able to take to the track and beat up so reliability over power. And result we left it a nice safe 222HP at the wheels on 12 psi. Once I build a stringer bottom end this setup will easily produce more power, currently it just wants to make more power shown my max hp being at redline, the torque drops away due to removing timing up top to hold off det. Anyway thats 340HP to the ton
8. Well I have just finished 3 days on the car and almost everything on the to-do list to get it on the road has been done. Saturday, Lifted up onto axel stands Remove tunnel Remove exhaust, clean flanges up, re-fit with new gasket to fix leak. Measure centre section of firewall, fit, final mount of non mounted electrics. Re-fit tunnel Remove head light brackets, Trim and fit nose cone, Trim to allow headlight brackets to fit, put riv nuts into tabs for headlight brackets (buggered if i was going to try to get a nut in behind with the nose cone on.) Fit lights, Fit IP rated plug to light loom and plug lights/indicator into body loom. Line up bonnet, install lockable not so flush mount carbon look bonnet pins. Sunday Fit rear tub, line up fuel filler neck, shorten, drill hole in tub, Fit tabs to mount rear tub, Wing stay time, I started with the rear, I drilled and tapped the mount for one of the stays and used the brake calliper bolts for the other, Fitted up the wing, I spent ages at this point deciding on how I wanted to mount the wings, I ended up sticking them as most have done. The front I removed the hub to fit the wing stay, the lock nut came off very easily so that was nice. I kept going until I got the wings glued so they could go off over night. Monday Measure, cut and fit rear cabin panel, Fit seatbelts, Fit Battery bracket and better, Silicone up the rear cabin panel and join between the firewall and trans tunnel. Remove rear tub, Fit tail lights to tub, For the wiring I drilled from the inside of the tub into the the tubes, this way there is no visible wiring for the tail lights. Then I mounted the number plate along with two bolts with lights built into them. Wired up the lighting in the rear tub, fitted a IP rated plug to the body loom and to the wiring in the rear tub. Massive clean up time. I still have to pick up some led\'s for the high stop light and install to the rear tub, Mount the gauge cluster and the panels to the sides but they are just small jobs I can finish up after work . I also need to pick up some more silicone, But in short its almost done!!!!!!!!!! First drive day!! Cert test was today, everything went mostly fine. Emissions were fine so that was good. a short list, he wants a different number plate light, two of the driveshaft bolts are to short the tail lights are not secure enough he wants reflective strips on the back of the rear guards and he can\'t see all of the speedo so i have to move that for him. All in all pretty easy, should only take an hour to sort. Since I can\'t legally drive it yet I decided to get on with fitting the stereo. Im using a remote face marine unit. the beginnings
9. some turbo manifold porn pics from the engineers Well what en exciting day today, I got to pick it up from the engineers, Turbo, intercooler and zaust all done. Now I can get on and get the electrics finished up and then on the road!!! MILESTONE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After completely rewiring the car basically from scratch, well should i say stripping the doner loom, cutting it in half, using the old wiring to create a new loom for the car, adding in some crazy security, timed foot well lighting off the alarm, a gps tracker and multiple immobilisers, push button inanition and start it runs!!!!!!! idle is good, no o2 sensor in so woulds like there is a hole in the exhaust. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10151731856407198&l=5012367207703723626 well.................I went to do the first drive round the car park thing, start up, put foot on clutch and......... nasty noise and almost stalls the engine. This could be a problem, now the gear box needs to come out and the clutch sorted, A bit of a blessing in disguise, I re-used the clutch from the donor car as I was not planning a turbo until later so now that I\'m turbo i want/need a better clutch. New clutch purchased and installed. Im now using a standard organic clutch with a heave duty 40% uprated cover and new bearing. The problem with the old one is it appears the wrong bearing was used, buggered if i know how it worked at all!!!!! But its all sorted now and i was able to have my first drive, it took a bit to select gears until i gave the clutch a couple of slips and now its happy as. Another step in the rite direction.!!!! I have been having trouble with the fuel pressure not coming up where I wanted, I have a aftertmarket fuel reg with gauge so i need to set it at 47psi, On the standard pump i set it but then noticed it dropped to about 25psi. I changed it out with a pump out of my old Subaru V7 STI, it was better sitting at about 45psi but I couldn\'t get any more no matter how far i wound the reg up. So I picked up a walbro 255 and fitted that, WOW straight to 80psi, wound it down to 47psi and its happy as. I then spent some time with the megasquirt, It runs off it mostly happily but Im still working out a few bugs. Getting closer though!!!! More things to fix..... well a good excuse to upgrade. One of the coil packs has had a weak spark, well today the other coil pack started to play up with a weak spark to so time to upgrade to Coil on plug. This is a common conversion on these engines and is very easy with great results according to those that have done it. This is a toyota coil pack I started with a strip of alloy 43mm wide (trimmings from doing the floor. After marking drilling, mark and measuring and drilling e.t.c I ended up with a plate, I used riv nuts from the under side for mounts for the coil\'s to screw down on to and this is the result, well almost, I ran out of time to complete the wiring so thats tomorrows task if I get time. I finished up the wiring this morning, I also fitted my new wide band gauge and got into sorting the electrical gremlins. Thought you might like to see my new wheel centres
10. As a few of you know I have been building a kit car and its now finished, I thought you might like to see the build, I have just pulled my posts off another forum and making one big mega post, enjoy. I brought a donor a couple of months back (october 2012), long story short, had a few dramas, was meant to be an 1800 not a 1600, ended up swapping it with a local dismantler, Ross from MX5Mart. He delivered an 1800 model with a service history that some poor fellow had put backwards through a fence. So now with a car partly stripped and no workshop I decided it was time to unpack all my workshop and get it set up (I have recently moved form christchurch in the south island to The Waikato up the north island). Now I have a working space I can get started on stripping and cleaning up all the bits i need whilst I await my kit to be built. I have started with a resetting my odometer to 000000 So no rain this afternoon so whipped the body off the easy way. Then it was time to take it for a drive so my brother and I jumped in for a spin. Got to spend a couple of hours in the shed over the weekend so stripped the chassis down into many bits ready for cleaning and painting. Still don\'t know if I\'m going to replace the bush\'s yet, I do need a couple new engine mounts though. At this point I ordered a 6 speed gear box and received the call that my frame is now ready!!!!!! So today I went on a road trip to collect my Chassis off Tom. What an exciting day. While with Tom we popped down and gave the donor for his next build a warmup. All loaded up On the way home some smart bugger kept tail gating me and as almost everyone does the sitting shot also started to tidy the engine up Time for a small update. It\'s now sitting on all four wheels for the mock up. Again since I was home alone I had the helpful hand of the tractor. Picked the frame up from the powder coaters today. Very happy with how it turned out. Just waiting for the fly wheel and power steering rack now. Hope to get some more done on it this weekend. got the floor on today, most people find the floor a massive job, getting riveters and putting big handles on them to make the job easier so i took a video to show off how easy it could be. [urlhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8MSRx6DxXU Been putting pieces together slowly. So I spent some time over the weekend sorting out the brake lines, cleaning the clippers up and painting them. I fitted my polished manifold and fuel lines. In short it was mainly small fiddley jobs that take lots of time. I am pleased at how the engine is looking. Progress has been a bit slow at late. I am happy with how the peddles fit now, I got a new clutch feed line and got the clutch all bled up. I got a pair of fixed back bride bucket seats now to, I got one mounted up on a sliding rail, think I might fix mount the passenger one as I have a set of mx5 fixed mounts and it was a mission to get the sliding rail adapted to work. This was the first chance to see how it will end up, its getting there, electrical next And all tucked away Well today was a milestone, I hung the wiring over the frame, connected a few plugs up, got the fuel pressure up, it fired, connected the airflow meter and took this video [a href="url]http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10151473731112198&l=7294865161577000451"]http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10151473731112198&l=7294865161577000451[/a] Bit of an update, it\'s been running but there is far to much loom there for what is needed to time to remove most of it, things have also been a bit quite at work lately so I decided if I\'m paying someone they may as well be doing something. The only problem is work has now picked up, if that can be called a problem, any way some wiring loom pics. So there has been a bit of progress. My mas scientist who works for me has had some time to spend on the car this week. I have cleaned up the standard rear muffler, it won\'t be staying but I\'m not going to build a new system until its turbo\'d at a later date. The ignition is all going to be push button so no need for this. The car is having a very elaborate security system wired in as part of the new harness so I\'m not concerned about not having a key, The hazard button and the ignition buttons Been flat our at work so not much has been done lately, I have decided to get on with the turbo now instead of next winter though so I dug the turbo out of storage, its a Subaru VF37 twin scroll with hardly any use on it, I also have a inlet for the turbo that will increase the inlet size to go straight to the airflow meters or to a pod filter when I go to an aftermarket ecu and remove the airflow meter. I also got a fuel reg off a turbo subaru hopefully it will fit and do the trick. Progress is slow but it is getting there, the wiring is almost all done, it needs the earths finished, the rear loom made and testing, the tracking and alarm is all fitted to. I also had some mail arrive from the good ol USA, funny thing, it comes across the world in a couple days but our customs is so bad it takes another week to get to me. and today I loaded it on a trailer and took it down to the engineers to have the turbo fitted and intercooler setup!!
11. Dyno tune day, ended up with 222hp atw and 196.5Tq on a Plus T\'d 1800 mx5 engine in my 650KG Exocet. Im happy enough for now.
12. that won\'t be standard, its probably just easier to swap the unit out for a new one,
13. mattapo

Plasti Dip

I can provide it, I will have to look at the pricing but if ya are after it let me know
14. Hampton Downs 1:25 with passenger
15. Possom link are good and can be had cheap, they are old and do show it. But bang for buck great. Megasquirt can be quite good however you have to do a lot of work your self, Im using one in my kit car and its great however there is lots of information available for setting them up for a MX5 so it was easy enough but a lot do struggle. The G4 ecu\'s are awesome, so much ability, it all depends what your trying to achieve.
16. this year but it was slow over winter as i had it work and just did a little here and there
17. na just been road tuning, next to no timing up top, 5deg, 5 psi of boost, might have to fit the bigger injectors this weekend and start extracting some good stuff out of her
