  1. ha thats not my question reread op. how do i trick ecu and if i do it with fuel cut defender does it compensate for air/fuel ratio at 20psi as opposed to 15psi as its tricking the computer and limiting voltage to 0.39 i think... i do know if it cuts at 15 and i run 15 it cuts out thats mildly obvious im just trying to understand the concept of what ive asked with the use of fuel cut defenders and other q's
  2. downpipe is definitely 02 sensor just check how many wires and get a universal X wire one or ring genuin fr the correct plug in. not sure on the crosspipe one possible egt exhaust gas temp im not sure? are you throwing codes or just want to change the for feel good factor?
  3. computer as follows A8 22611 AE491 A18-000 D0Y SY26
  4. wrx non sti v5/6 phase 2 engine running td04l with external gate on collector atm. standard ecu seems to cut about 14-15psi as above cuts at higher revs
  5. picking its easiest to jam clip into plug with it unplugged then plug it back in to check only if you run top mount...
  6. ive just hooked up my hdi single channel ebc again and few quick q's: running 15psi i get a boost cut at 5-6000rpm in every gear. i want 14-15psi but do i need a fuel cut defender? and if i use one does that just tell the computer its running 14psi with a 14psi air/fuel ratio and run 20psi without compensating for the extra boost? the gate starts to open slowly after about 6psi on just spring and/or with ebc. i thought the idea of ebc is it stays completely open or shut like a switch? its a 30 psi max controller does that mean it needs to be set to 15 psi to get 15psi or do i set it to 5psi as i have a 10psi spring? please dont tell me i cant run 15psi/ill blow the car up/turbo wont handle etc im just giving indications of figures as examples. any help would be appreciated cheers
  7. everybody has them just o one likes going through box by box to measure them... bnt repco partmaster asl...i can do legwork i have all the catalogues
  8. is it the same as v5/6? i can measure mine up its sitting outside im going to run the same setup just need to make an adjusting bracket for alt first. i just tensioned it with a bar to old alt adjuster and alt pivot bolt for now with a pulley bolted to the middle. long as nothings touching you should be ok pulleysize wise tho. i bolted various idlers on where you have yours but 50mmish would be smallest i tried so far i think. ill revisit when everything else is ready to go on tho
  9. i can sus it out but theres no such thing as generic i put evo one on mine...good ol mitzi parts... what size do you need? does it need to be offset to fit belt? why do you want a smaller pulley? idler pulley is the term you are searching for.
  10. whats the car? where are they located? post up all details/rego makes it easier for everybody to answer... could be 02 sensor or air/fuel sensor...
  11. i wouldve thought $20 took me about 10 minutes and 5 to blow it out but you must know someone with an air comp you can use
  12. i work in parts so the first time when i bought foz i changed leads, plugs, afm, 02 sensor, coil, fuel filter, everything that it could be coz i got them for cheap as. had a mate with 1998 foz with same problem but he spent 1500bux and hes just replaced tps or tcs now and it goes way better would have to check which when he gets back to me. mine seems to only be when its cold but worse in the morning so not sure on moisture. you definitely have a good mech if he doesnt charge if he doesnt fix the problem. ha how many people will sit in their cars for 20 minutes tomorrow morning...?
  13. i think i said above why i dont warm it up above and its only once a day. im not saying "f#ck warming up your car bro" i normally do above but im just interested to know why it surges. im not the village idiot just asking something no one seems to know. it seems to be a common problem just bugs me as ive only had the problem on subarus. do you know why? also did you forge your motor when it was built? forgies do take longer to warm up too like the wheels on your wagon too very different you should keep them ones on
  14. guy on trade me does vapour blasting too... http://www.trademe.co.nz/services/other-services/other/auction-404080668.htm you need to wash it after soda blasting or paint will fall off...
  15. i blasted an evo one didnt harm it at all just blow out with air compressor after and use clean sand or beads or it will stain it.
  16. the car wakes my kid when i go to work or i would warm it up ;D i warm up and down on any other drive. thats random in laws got a 2004 mondeo its sweet from cold. theres got to be a reason that only newish cars do it just interested to know why? it must be a change in the system...
  17. i had a mate check cel the other day while i was doing something else when i knew afm was down. he got 22, 23 and 46 unsure how i just got 23 lol. double check and make sure not saying your eyes are shit... ^^^do this^^^ then try again did you find out what the part was?
  18. so it is a problem on subarus where you have to warm them up first? i dont jump in my car and quartermile everywhere i go i warm up before i thrash ;D but ive driven a shit load of cars and never had this problem before on any car. havent driven many subarus lately though only foz an wrx. just remembering the forester used to be quite bad and was idling funny so i changed afm and 02 made it way better but still fully noticeable. it never threw a code though. subaru suggested leads, plugs just all ignition common for people too break leads when they change plugs but wasnt any of that.
  19. could be worn out alternator or two seperate problems check all the things above and voltage with car running and off should get 14.4-8v. the battery could be on its way out too but battery tests are free everywhere.
  20. all intake is standard and downpipe too. definitly no problems with afm or 02 sensor. will update when i change coolant temperature sensor. its just real annoying and being on both cars which run identical ignition/engine setups i thought it might be a cold start thing like running off afm till 02 sensor heats up. but its is a 3 wire heated 02 sensor...
  21. would this throw a code? just weird both cars did/do it?
  22. Had this same problem on my 2000 foz and 99 wrx. when cold it jumps like its running out of gas. really noticeable when accelerating uphill. its not afm or o2 sensor i replaced both on both cars. im replacing temp sensor but ordered the wrong one and plug wouldnt fit. is this a possible cause or is this just a subaru thing? no cels either and ive reset ecu also it doesnt make sense for me to warm my car up in the morning coz i work 2k away and its still cold wen i get there juz cbf walking.
  23. wont run without it will it? unless you pull it apart and flick wires... just offering advice often genuine people refer to starter switch as the part im talking about. try ringing genuine and pricing the part to fix the fault and finding out what it is.
  24. ignition switch? the piece behind the ignition barrel?
  25. make sure its not too tight, all tensioners are good, alternator spins good and most of all alignment as above. if you have buggered more than one you have a problem in car or installation not shitty belts...
