  1. Im going to pay someone to do it since I dont have a garage, but non engine removal makes it cheaper in labour costs I assume :) PBMS said itd be around 2 hours labour to swap, at least for a stock one. Stock headers I do have. Another company said its be around $450 though.

Subtech said ~250+GST or around 3 hours.

  2. So looks like macbilt is around $1000 +GST and no engine removal needed, Moroso ~$1150 inc GST, not sure if engine removal needed. Looks like its much of a muchness then, Buy from proven American brand, or buy proven local NZ company ha.

  3. Sweet, changing the oil isnt an expensive outlay in the scheme of things. Im happy to spend the money getting a mostly reliable setup first before i start worrying about running semi slicks/chasing more power.

    Thanks for your help.

  4. Great info, thanks. I was going to look at an oil cooler as well as the sump itself, didnt think of the oil pump. Looks like im probably going with the moroso sump as they fit in my budget. Ill give macbilt a call as well though to compare.

For taupo ill just what ive been doing and run an extra half L of oil/change at 7k max.

  5. Sweet, will give them a call and get one closer to the end of the year. I shouldn\'t have much in the way of issues at Taupo should I as long as im sensible, till I get the sump?. Ive done one already there and 2 at HD without issue so far. With Subarus its mainly the extended fast right handers that cause issues iirc? Going back to taupo in august for a day I organised so probably wont have the funds to get one before then.

  6. I see this topic has been done a couple of times but nothing recently so want up to date info.

For around the $1000 mark, what would be recommended to replace the stock sump in a v6 sti with a baffled sump of some sort. Is moroso/macbilt still the one to get in the price range? I only have re-11 road tyres for now, but will be getting semi slicks eventually. Or will I be fine with just a pbms baffled sump. Tracks will be pukekohe/taupo/hampton downs.

  7. +1 fuel surge, mine was doing it coming out of turn 1 at hampton downs, same thing and cut out on the straight bit after it. Thought I had broken the car and panicked, but it turned back on again after. Was also showing about 1/4 when not moving, went and filled up and it was fine.

  8. Car in sig, version 6 sti sedan.

    Done K brace/whiteline adjustable rear.

Will look at doing the castor shim/ALK and the sway bar links then. Once those are done I assume its best to move onto the suspension itself? Basically car will be a weekend driver/few trackdays a year.

  9. Haven\'t had a proper back to back test yet but it does seem to feel a bit better. WHen I last went to taupo I didnt have it to itll be good to see the difference this time, im hoping itll help at the fast right hand corner turn 9 where i was understeering a bit, and help point the car in the right direction.

Though itll probably end up raining and ill be drifting around in the wet instead, these re11s are good like that in heavy rain.

  10. So i just bought one of those cusco K brace things, is there anything else under the car around that area worth replacing at the same time/upgrading? Bushes/arms/links etc. Ive got an adjustable whiteline sway bar in the back, but its all on standard links and stuff.
