  1. Ha cool. I have no immediate plans for the car but in the mid term of the next 6months id liike to aim for 180kw ish, so will start stockpiling a few bits if i see them.

So will look out for an exhaust, might have to find a dump pipe then pickup tez n u exhaust to get that side of things done. Mid range power is good to me, I will be doing trackdays in it but its more often a weekend car.

AdamOst you werent lieing when you said in your intro that your sti is just a little quciker then your old trueno ...hahah nah jks man...what does the car feel like inside when your boosting? is the pull hard or is there a slight pull but speed picks up?

Pulls pretty hard, pushes you back in the seat when taking off from 1st. It was still fast around hampton downs, i had no problems hitting the 180kph limiter over 50m before the pit entry. I had no idea it was possibly down on power until a few people looked at my dyno sheets and said it looked a bit off.

well to me - thats deffonatly not boost taper - the solenoid is clearly dropping the duty cycle to lower boost

and IMO it doesnt look like it should be doing that - as when the boost drops lower - the air fuel goes rich as if its fueling for the higher boost - one would think if the ecu is suppose to lower the boost - it would keep the air fuel in check

did they have a knock link or knock block on it during the run ? quite possibly getting knock and pulling boost

but realistically - its only at 10.7 or a small amount of time and your hanging around 11.1 -11.2 which is a tad rich but subys run around there standard anyway - my ver 3 would run around 11.0 at the richest and 11.5 at the leanest

i highly doubt the bov has anything to do with it - as the boost above the piston + the spring -vs the boost under the piston will hold the valve shut on boost

the power seems not that bad to me - if the cars fully stock - i mean whats on it a vf28 or 29??

Stock turbo is a vf30 I think, although might be a vf28. The few people i showed the dyno to said it looked a little low, should be closer to 170kw and boost should be higher. I mean the car feels ok, but it just seemed a little low.

Didnt have a knock sensor hooked up unfortunately.

  4. So after a dyno day i seem to have an odd power/boost graph which doesnt look normal. Checked the error codes and nothing comes up so any idea what else might be going on. Or does it look normal.

Looks like it seems to run out of puss around 5k? Car is a completely stock v6 sti with just a greddy BOV. Might try grab a stock one to rule that out.

  5. racechrono si awesome, pity no android support, i have an old windows mobile 2003 phone i keep soley for datalogging. Exports to google earth too. I use it with a 5hz bluetooth gps receiver as the 1hz ones in most phones is poos.

Video of my old toyota trueno.:

Google earth exports. (terrible apexing is the result of the gps inacuracies, not my driving I swear!)

    Export data to Circuit tools.

Might have to give trackmaster a go, but then racechrono is amazing for free software.

  6. I did actually notice in romraider it only shows port 6, but the device is mapped to port 5. On my phone the two programs I have show the device as connected, but cant find the ecu.

I tried the device in my bmw and it worked fine with torque for android.

What cable did you use? just a normal odb2 one? and did you do anything different to the setup of rom raider?

  7. What cable did you use to connect? i cant get my phone to pick up the obd2 data over a bluetooth adapter, it says connected but shows no data. Romraider on my laptop just says "unable to receive ecu init" please check cable etc.

  8. So you just used one of those bluetooth odb2 scanners? i have a mate with one so might have to try it out.

Looking at doing it for track data logging in racechrono, plus ability to overlay on video for trackday wank vids :)

  9. Hmm, so I can do the same thing with my stock version 6 sti? i had thought it only worked with v7 and above and while the v5/6 had the obd2 connector it used something else. If not then thats aweosme, ill give it a go.

  10. Hampton downs - 1:22.6

Stock v6 wrs sti, 180kph speed cut.

    Proof if needed

First time at hamptons and first trackday with the subaru so a bit of hamfisted driving and takiing braking zones pretty easy. Aiming for a 1:20.xx with the car as is if possible.

  11. Had a bit of a fail first attempt at installing, these type X spacers are way too big for the doors, they look like they will need an 18mm spacer to fit which means they wont fit behind the door card I dont think. Looks like ill need to make some spacers to put them on the rear parcel tray as midbass only speakers, and leave the current slim components in the front. Not ideal but will get me going in the meantime till i sort something out I guess. Might need a non stock exhaust and some induction noise to make up for lack of stereo.

Also had to make a wooden base to screw to the back of the rear 'seats' for my amps since when i took them out all that was there was a metal bar and some plastic, not like the fold down seats on my toyota.
