  1. Yeah its that nooby thread

I could have asked this in nooby questions but I expect a bit of discussion given the question.

Alright, what are the best products for car care? If it makes a difference I have a JDM 2003 BH5.

I have only ever bothered using armorall, but I understand wax etc is important

  2. Argh yeah way too much unfortunately, gorgeous rims you have though dude

Bit of a follow up question to this thread, Mag and Turbo told me I can only run 18s, possibly 19s with an 8 inch width and that's just the way it is, he said 8.5s are possible with some serious rolling but that I wouldn't be able to lower it.

I figure many of you have probably put different rims on Legacys so I'll ask anyway, why can't I go wider? is it a height clearance issue on the guards we are talking about (at which stage I just wouldn't lower it and put some 19's on there) or is it because it will result in the wheels protruding from the guards?

I am really keen on some nice spoked VIP style rims like many of the sick BPs have so I'd like to know what I can get away with.

Realistically this car will be daily driven, and I am well versed in keeping low cars off yucky driveways.

  3. Haven't had any luck finding those rims in NZ, somewhat of a lost cause unfortunately : (

Spent the last couple of hours searching for rim options for it and I am getting pissed tbh, going to spend some time in Photoshop and see what I come up with but so far I just can't find anything that looks right to me.

  4. Pretty keen to try out some RE002s when I need new tyres for the scooby - worked for Firestone for some time and always had 050As on the front and 001s on the rear on the Skyline but a slightly harder compound with tighter sidewalls would be amazing so definitely going to check em out.

  5. Hey people

I have been looking into rims for my RevD wagon and while I really like GT37s there are quite a few tight Legacys around wearing them.

I happened across these, anyone know what they are? I could be wrong but I am assuming these are 19s and i'd need adjusties to get that sort of stance?

If anyone else can recommend some sweet rims for a BH5 I'd love to see some other options too - I sure as fuck don't want to be the hundredth legacy or evo with DTM Shines

  6. Finally got the shitty Japanese only AVC9022HD out of the subbie

Replaced it with my JVC outta the skidline until I can get a decent heady for it.

Was worried about the McIntosh system and having to pull up carpet to fuck with wiring but it turns out it its already been re-wired and the amp taken out, even though it still has the McIntosh speakers and 6x9 left in (obviously the 6x9 isn't going)

Now for the extremely fun task of running 4 gauge through the firewall and under the carpet -_-

Might need a single din cubby...

  7. I dislike tweeters mounted in the standard position you get them on subbies so decent coax are fine - separating the high soundstage too much ruins the effect for me personally.

Good write up for those looking to do stuff on the cheap.

When I finally get around to doing my install I am going to have the time of my life, so much bothering room in the wagon, my R33 coupe has two 12" Soundstream T4's in a sealed enclosure and it takes two people to get the enclosure in and out of the boot -_- used to get some funny looks at the supermarket when I popped the boot and put two bags in, then put the rest of the trolley load in the backseats.

High and low pass filters are a must for any setup - blown heaps of my mates minds when I tune their system a little and set up filters, they can't believe the difference it makes giving speakers/subs one task so to speak.

  8. Hey people

I have a 2003 Legacy RevD and basically it is quiet as sin - I was planning on holding back on performance upgrades for a bit but as gay as it sounds I like the subbie rumble so I would like to get me some of that.

Before asking about the exhaust - will I need to get the ECU flashed for something as simple as making it louder? I am also considering a GFB hybrid BOV after hearing that half and half is the best route so I would like to know about that too in regards to the ECU

So onto the exhaust - I don't want to drop a g on the exhaust, I just want to make the car a bit louder, and the muffler it has is very quiet so do I need to purchase an expensive name branded catback system, or is there either something in the exhaust I can remove without harming anything or can a muffler shop do me up something a little louder on the cheap?

    Any input appreciated, cheers

I'm in TGA btw if anyone has any suggestions on who to see

'e-tunes' is a loose definition, what he means is the revision (rev) d GTB's.

They are they very last of the BH shape, i think all Model year '02. They are facelifted from the earlier ones A-C, so relatively easy to spot and run higher compression motors than previous models. They seem alot more prone to det in factory format on our 98 pump gas than anything earlier. This can be flashed out luckily on their ECU.

AFAIK - there arent any other real show stoppers particular to RevD?

Yeah I have a 2003 e-tune or whatever it is

I was reading somewhere that the primary turbos are known to shit themselves although obviously this may be for all twin turbo ej20s hence my being careful with it and making sure it gets warmed up and down but based on the advice in this thread I don't have to go overboard

    cheers for the info

  10. Planning a car-pc build sometime in the future, but you really need a 10'+ screen to get usability you can live with (if you have bigger aspirations than gauges etc) hence me not just rushing out and doing it when there are mods to come in the future.

You can still import dc to dc power supplys cheaply and some of the mini-itx stuff available now is awesome with built in wifi too so wireless tethering from my tablet to the car PC would be a piece of cake.

Picked up this wireless keyboard to use with the HTPC because full size mouse and k/b were getting annoying, awesome little k/b with mouse tracker for $80 so that will no doubt find its way into a car-pc build

  11. Anyone used that tint stuff from repco?

Apparently you just spray it on in coats, one or two won't affect light output too much at night, and you can just take it off with meths for warrants.

Keen to hear if anyone has used it before I purchase in case I have been led up the path - looking to tint my revd wagons rear lights, and possibly the fronts too if I am too poor for the black covers.
