  1. Hey guys, I'm wandering what the widest tyres you can fit on a GC8 without having the flare/roll the guards etc. I'm assuming 225's, but I'm almost due for a new set and have seen some 235 40 17's that are really well priced! They'll probably also look a little strange on my 7.5" rims too ???
  2. Thanks mate, appreciate you sharing your experience. I'll definately be painting my rims, as you mention some very valid pionts. I just have to finish sanding now...
  3. Thanks man, there are two places down 15th. I've been to both The one quoted 110 per rim for curb repairs etc (including painting) and the other was 30 (excluding painting). Didn't ask about powder coating, so will stop in there again tomo... Cheers.
  4. I was just about to ask this exact question... I bought a set of Advan RG's that I want to re-paint. In the process of sending them. I was just going to get a mate at work to paint them for a box of beers, but someone mentioned powder coating and it sounds pretty good. I may just paint them after reading this thread... Anyone actually had a set of rims powder coated and have some pics? The set I bought has a polished lip too, I'm hoping the paint will stick to this as I don't want anything shiny on my car ;D... My painter mate said he'll use etch primed (means nothing to me... :-\). DMSREX - Sorry to hijack your thread... I think you got the answers you wanted ???.
  5. Nice clip Fastfour - I love your car! Pity about the problems you had on the day... but at least you were there representing! A few more misc pics
  6. That RX7 was sick! This is the skyline that won I assume...? Spoke to the owner and he said it has a 500kw RB30 - RWD GTS-t shell built on the cheap...
  7. Sorry about the delay, exceeded my download limit! A few more pics. Drift cars
  8. A couple of pics I took today and thought I'd share a few Subaru pics (for now...).
  9. Heat wrapped my factory extractors and part of my down-pipe. I didn't have a set of gloves so have heaps of splinters...! I'm quite interested to see how long it lasts.
  10. My V3 does it a fair amount. Definitely less since the Zerosports intake pipe too! I recently changed my up-pipe which had a tiny hole, and this has drastically reduced backfires too. It still backfires every now and again. I think our cars need to be tuned for the mods (bov, pod filter, exhaust etc...)
  11. + 1 I've had three sets of DZ101's in a row. I think they're a great set of tyres. Having said that, I'm almost due for a new set, so will start looking out for T1R's as they're sounding pretty good
  12. You shouldn't have any vac. leaks such as this one...
  13. True, but this is just for now. I'll only be fitting the 36 when I get a new motor.
  14. Yes, so I wouldn't be the first! It will be interesting to hear whether or not you notice a difference.
  15. Damn... Thought that pic would put you off... You're the third person wanting to buy it. I'd rather not sell it as I wanted to re-con it and re-fit it. It was definitely more responsive than the 22! I bought a VF36 today though, so may sell eventually... I'll let you know. If my car doesn't sell by the time I hit 180 000km's I'm going to get a V7 /V8 shortblock so will fit the 36 then.
  16. Appears you guys know what you're talking about... I just went and got my old VF23 out of the shed to measure it. The hole the up-pipe mates up with is 45mm so there will be a 10mm step if I fit the SS pipe. M... maybe I should use the die grinder on the VF23 housing and bolt this onto my VF22... Come to think of it, could use the mill at work... :-\
  17. It was a joke mate. I wouldn't dream of it... I just remembered a mate that did that to his, but sold the car before he got it going, so didn't know if it made a difference. I agree, anyone want to buy a SS up-pipe...?
  18. Ah, not another issue...! You'r right about there being a step. Sounds like I may have to take my digrinder out M... I'll update this thread once I've done the job.
  19. Tony - The up-pipe arrived today and is in great condition. Thanks again. There's quite a big difference in diameter! I think I'll go with the SS one just to see how much of a difference I notice (will fit this wkend). If its really noticable I know what I'll be doing next Sunday... Factory pipe ID (inside diameter) - 45.5mm SS ID - 64.5mm Factory pipe ID (inside diameter) - 47mm SS ID - 55mm
  20. Excellent, thanks mate. Appreciate it. Didn't arrive today, but I'm in no rush as long as it arrives by the wkend that is...
  21. Great, thanks for your responses. I'm going to remove the heat wrap from the stock one and if its in good condition I'll probably just fit it. Gives me something to do this wkend as rain's forecast...
  22. My factory up-pipe has finally developed a leak... :'( I bought a stainless steel one off Trademe two months ago, I paid $89 but it never showed up, so I bought another standard one (yesterday) which has had the heat shields removed and been heat wrapped. I get home from work today and the SS one is sitting on my front step... Anyway after doing a bit of research, I've read larger diameter Up-Pipe's increase lag... Has anyone experienced this...? If so, I'd rather fit the factory pipe... ??? : A pic of each:
  23. I made it! Still have to make it home though...
