  1. when i had the ECU out for my TT to ST conversion on my 2001 BH, i found the wire at the ECU that controls that exhaust actuator, snipped & extended it, ran it to a micro switch on the dash and simply earthed the other side of the switch. This allows me to activate it manually.

I have a siamese DP and the rest is the standard exhaust, with the exhaust actuator open i get a mild suby rumble and when the missus gets in she hates the rumbel so simply turns it off!

    Works a treat!

What is it you are tryig to figure out Gary?

I have a wiring diagram for an Impreza with those connectors you posted up, but it's not a full service manual.

Nothing special, just things like TPS adjusting/testing and other sensor testing. In general it would just be good to have the right FULL manual for the v5/6 STI.

Did you get my email with all the data files & logs etc?

Nah I wouldn't know for sure. You'd have to check the colour of the wires, the positions, the colour and the shape of the plugs to be sure it was right.

They change things like the colour of the wires and the plugs for a reason... so you don't try and fit the wrong ecu!

Those two diaagrams you sent me a while ago seemed to be right Eh?

Oh, and so. tell me Gary, which way did your TPI wotk? High voltage at idle or full throttle?

I have yet to see a FULL manual with those plugs pictured in it.

Yea those ones i sent you (one for a BH and the other was the possumlink v5/6) are spot on, i was just after the full version of the v5/6.

yea, the possumlink is all installed awaiting a road tune first thing Monday. I have been for a boosted drive and it feels really good. I havnt done a full on WOT drive yet.

I am fitting the old ECU and running that data file for you and vwrx dump for you this morning.

I have to start putting the car back together for my drive to Blenheim (1000kms return) on Wednesday. So any further testing will have to wait sorry.

    Cheers

There is an 98-00 impreza workshop manual and a suppliment for the 2002 sti here...

You;ll have to pick and choose which features your car has.

Thanks Brett, yea that hasnt got the right plugs (for mine at least anyways)

I guess the one i am after is the one that the Link manual must have pinched their diagrams from for their v5/6 booklet.

So youd know if it was the right manual as the plugs would look like these:

Hey I have a 2000 gtb series 3, and i was wonting to minimize the valley of death and, just generally make my gtb go faster and harder. So I was wondering what is the best way to go about it is. also i would like to get rid of speed cut .

Any thoughts and ideas would be appreciated???

you could look at the TT to single T conversion, yours is a BH yea?

I have just done it on my BH and with a g1 possumlink ECU and a VF22 turb, it was about $2200 all up thats with me doing all the work myself.

I had boosting issues using a STD STI ECU, so went for aftermarket, wudnt bother with std ECU.

The car drives basically like you wud expect, still that GTB smoothness but no VOD and STI driveability + its easiler to work on and less to go wrong.

You can make money back by selling your old turbs too

everytime you change or clean a sensor you MUST reset ECU, hopefully you did that?

Have you tried knock sensor relocation?

    /quote]

Well, not religiously, but I have reset it a few times. Both the "disconnect the battery" way, and the "connect black-black and green-green plugs" way.

Nope, havn't tried knock sensor relocation. Easy to do I spose. Will add to the list, cheers :-)

yip, painful as it is i wud reset it every change you make.

here is that link on knock sensor relocation, i spoke to PBMS about this and they say its all good to do.

Infact in rescent knock sensor troubleshooting i mounted my knock sensor on the manifold on the intercooler bracket and listened with a listening device and it worked fine.

You MUST torque knock sensors at 24nm aswell

    what area u from bro..

and maybe host the wave file somewhere so can be downloaded easy .. i wud like to hear what det is lol..

PS> just a theory but what if the factory knock sensor is buggered and causing false det noise - just wondering thats all

maybe try the wrx ecu and injectors and afm - i hear thay run higher compression than the sti

    Sorry man, missed this post.

    I am in Timaru, SI

Wav file is availiable to download as per other posts

My DIY knock sensor picked up all the det and the factory one wasnt even connected for that run, so wen the factory one is connected it must be working otherwise i wud get really bad det.

Dunno bout a std wrx ECU and AFM, just cant afford to trial and error any more.

With this engine and ecu, its simply just trying to det all the time and the knock sensor will be working overtime. If i recall the snap-on engine analyser showed knock voltage constantly evan under light boost evan in safe mode.

Still trying to get evoscan to log some more data too.

OK, that wav file is best played in the program it was recorded in, so download the wave file and play it in a program called spectrogram, download it here http://www.electronics-lab.com/downloads/pc/003/

install it, open it, goto > file > analyse file > then browse to the wave file > let it load > then click play in bottom right

this is cool as you can see the graph and frequencies etc
